This study aims to mitigate these adverse vibrations using passive control mechanisms, particularly tuned mass dampers (TMDs). Conventional TMDs require a substantial mass to effectively influence the structure's lateral reactions. The research explores the use of multi-tuned mass dampers (MTMDs) and double-tuned mass dampers (DTMDs) in a soft-story building. The study uses MATLAB to estimate TMD parameters and subject the models to seismic loading. The comparative assessment of these models reveals the potential benefits of using MTMD and DTMD systems to enhance the seismic resilience of soft-story structures.","PeriodicalId":52482,"journal":{"name":"World Earthquake Engineering","volume":"9 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134992151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The formulation of the generalized Unit Commitment Schedule formulation involves the specific combination of generation units at several de-rated capacities during each hour of the planning horizon, the load demand profile, load indeterminateness and several other operating constraints. This largely deterministic schedule continues to find favor with several plant operators, keeping in mind the close operating time-periods involved. However, the deterministic nature of the load profile is sought to be phased out by a stochastic pattern that is realistic and mirrors real-life situations, owing to modern trends in Demand side management. This shift is in tune with the ongoing power restructuring activities of electricity power reforms. The stochastic profile is obtained by a suitably tuned 2-parameter Weibull distribution that uses appropriate shape and scale parameters. The resulting band of generated load profiles are used to evaluate net power and penal costs associated with a set of pervasive randomized probability indices. The exact UCS comprises of a specific unit absolute state corresponding to a certain time period within the planning horizon. Subsequently, regression analysis is applied to establish the correlation between the absolute states and the cumulative randomized load demand against the intervals within the planning horizon. This method is analogous to random furrowing of probabilistic demand profile.","PeriodicalId":52482,"journal":{"name":"World Earthquake Engineering","volume":"38 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135635310","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has application in group decision-making and is used worldwide in a wide variety of decision-making situations. Rather than prescribing a \"\"correct\"\" decision, AHP helps decision-makers choose the decision that best fits their goal and their understanding of the problem. The technique provides a comprehensive and rational framework for structuring a decision problem, representing and quantifying its elements, relating those elements to general objectives, and evaluating alternative solutions. Given each specific situation, making the right decisions is probably one of the most difficult challenges for managers. The obtained results allow the manager to evaluate the employees in an objective way and make an objective decision for their promotion. This tool not only supports and qualifies decisions, but also allows managers to justify their choices as well as simulate possible outcomes.","PeriodicalId":52482,"journal":{"name":"World Earthquake Engineering","volume":"588 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135635867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The floating photovoltaic system contributes to a reduction in water evaporation and an increase in energy output. The development of floating photovoltaic power plants necessitates the study of these systems from both an electrical and mechanical structure perspective for research objectives. Numerous studies have been conducted on floating photovoltaic systems from various angles that have examined these systems. The goal of this paper is to provide a standard design procedure and performance for the construction of a floating photovoltaic energy system at the surface of Toshka lake for the generation of electricity to a household using PV Syst. software. Also it provides a logical analysis and up-todate assessment of the many characteristics and elements of floating photovoltaic systems as an energy production system. The performance ratio analysis reveals that the lowest value was obtained in the month of March is 64% and the maximum value was obtained in the month of December is 82%whereas the average value for year is 71.3%. Analysis of losses has also been done.","PeriodicalId":52482,"journal":{"name":"World Earthquake Engineering","volume":"595 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135635852","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Agile software development satisfies this need and has been widely and appropriately accepted by software professionals. The maintainability of such software, however, has a significant impact on its quality. Unfortunately, existing works neglected to consider timely delivery and instead concentrated primarily on the flexibility component of maintainability. This research looked at maintainability as a function of time to rectify codes among Individual Junior and Random pair software developers. Data was acquired from an experiment performed on software developers in the agile environment and analyzed to develop the quality model metrics for maintainability which was used for prediction. One hundred programmers each received a set of agile codes created in the Python programming language, with deliberate bugs ranging from one to ten. The cubic regression model was used for predicting time spent on debugging errors above ten bugs. Results show that the random pair programmers spent an average time of 21.88 min/error while the individual programmers spent a lesser time of 16.57 min/error.","PeriodicalId":52482,"journal":{"name":"World Earthquake Engineering","volume":"1992 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135636078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper presents models of bolted joints published in the current decade (i.e. after 1 January 2021 and up to 10 May 2023) in journals of the world's largest scientific publishers, such as: Elsevier, Springer, and MDPI, among others. Reporting of the systematic review was carried out based on PRISMA guidelines. The databases were searched with the EBSCO multi-search engine for the following keywords: bolted joint model, bolted connection model, preload, and finite element method. Additionally, the search results were narrowed down to peer-reviewed papers from the discipline of engineering and written in English. This yielded 2,712 records for further analysis. After removing duplicates from this group, screening was carried out, based on which 1,476 records were excluded from the study. For the remaining group of reports, an eligibility assessment was performed, after which a further 210 reports were excluded from the study. Finally, 86 papers were included in the review. As a result of their examination, six groups of simplified fastener models currently used in the modeling of bolted joints at the assembly stage were described.","PeriodicalId":52482,"journal":{"name":"World Earthquake Engineering","volume":"326 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135538802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
