Vessel densities, structural parameters, and foveal avascular zone (FAZ) assesments were made.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>There was no significant correlation between activity and damage index and all regions of both superficial (SCP-VD) and deep capillary plexus vessel densities (DCP-VD) in the SLE group. There were no significant difference between groups in terms of FAZ, structural parameters, and radial peripapillary capillary vessel densities (RPC-VD). The mean SCP-VD and DCP-VD of most regions showed a significant decrease in the SLE group, except for parafovea superior and parafovea temporal. The decrease in vessel density (VD) in the perifoveal regions of DCP-VD in SLE patients was remarkable. DCP-VD showed good specifity and sensitivity in detecting vascular changes in SLE patients with whole image area under the curve (AUC) = 0.671, p < 0.001, odds ratio (OR) = 0.909, p = 0.009, and perifovea AUC = 0.671, p < 0.001, OR = 0.918, p = 0.012. Similarly, the SCP-VD whole image AUC = 0.609, p = 0.037, and OR = 0.825, p = 0.018 and perifovea AUC = 0.608, p = 0.037, and OR = 0.918, p = 0.012. The DCP-VD of perifovea superior showed a diagnostic accuracy for discrimination between SLE patients with and without nephritis (AUC = 0.671, p = 0.016). The SCP-VD and cumulative dose of HCQ demonstrated significant negative correlation in the SLE group (whole image, r =  - 0.332, p = 0.010).</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>SLE patients without ocular involvement had vascular changes that were particularly evident in the DCP and primarily in the perifovea. The most common presenting symptoms were eyelid and periorbital swelling (45%) representing active inflammation. Upgaze restriction was the most common clinical finding (73%). At time of diagnosis, the mean clinical activity score was 4 ± 1/4 ± 1 (right/left eye, respectively). Sixty-three percent (31/49) of the patients were treated both with IV methylprednisolone and underwent orbital decompression surgery, 22% (11/49) were treated with IV methylprednisolone alone and 14% (7/49) underwent surgical decompression only. Seventy-one percent (30/42) of the patients underwent 3-wall decompression. The mean reduction of proptosis in patients treated with both IV methylprednisolone and orbital decompression surgery was 4/5 mm. Mean of reduction in proptosis in patients receiving IV methylprednisolone only was 1/0 mm and in patients with surgical decompression only was 5/5 mm. Mean VA was 0.1 ± 0.5/0.1 ± 0.5 logMAR at baseline and 0.05 ± 0.7/0.05 ± 0.7 at final follow-up. In 92% (45/49), VA was preserved or improved at final follow-up.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>The majority of patients with DON were treated both with IV corticosteroids and 3-wall decompression surgery. Univariate and multivariate generalized estimating equations evaluated the effects of baseline, surgical, and postoperative factors on vision loss of two Snellen lines or more at the 1-year follow-up visit. The primary term was the hypertensive phase (HP), which signified an intraocular pressure (IOP) reading > 21 mmHg within the first 3 postoperative months after reduction below 22 in the first week, without other tube malfunction.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Of 241 eyes from 186 patients, vision loss of ≥ 2 lines at the 1-year follow-up visit occurred in 21.6% (N = 52). Vision loss of ≥ 2 lines occurred in 52.5% of eyes at week 1, 36.9% of eyes at month 1, and 27.0% of eyes at month 3. Between 6 months and 1 year, vision loss frequencies stabilized. In the multivariate model, HP (OR = 4.71 (2.14, 10.38)), total quadrants with split fixation (1.47 (1.20, 1.81)), follow-up non-glaucomatous eye pathology (2.89 (1.44, 5.80)), and concurrent cataract surgery (0.42 (0.22, 0.82)) each met significance (p < 0.05).</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>Post-AGV vision loss in the early follow-up period among Black or Hispanic patients was often transient. This study aimed to develop machine learning models to identify high-risk patients for refractive regression based on preoperative data and fundus photography.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>This retrospective study assigned subjects to the training (n = 1606 eyes) and validation (n = 403 eyes) datasets with chronological data splitting. Machine learning models with ResNet50 (for image analysis) and XGBoost (for integration of all variables and fundus photography) were developed based on subjects who underwent corneal refractive surgery. The primary outcome was the predictive performance for the presence of myopic regression at 4 years of follow-up examination postoperatively.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>By integrating all factors and fundus photography, the final combined machine learning model showed good performance to predict myopic regression of more than 0.5 D (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve [ROC-AUC], 0.753; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.710-0.793). The performance of the final model was better than the single ResNet50 model only using fundus photography (ROC-AUC, 0.673; 95% CI, 0.627-0.716). The top-five most important input features were fundus photography, preoperative anterior chamber depth, planned ablation thickness, age, and preoperative central corneal thickness.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>Our machine learning algorithm provides an efficient strategy to identify high-risk patients with myopic regression without additional labor, cost, and time. Eyes with ultrahigh myopia above - 10 D undergoing ICL-V4c implantation were studied. Univariable linear regression models were used to assess the association between PVAI and preoperative parameters. Myopic maculopathy was classified into 5 categories by fundus photography. After the 1-month follow-up, the PVAI was compared within different age and preoperative spherical degree groups.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>This study included 726 eyes from 419 patients (111 men and 308 women), and the mean age, spherical refraction, and axial length were 28.67 ± 7.93 years, - 13.61 ± 3.44 D, and 28.59 ± 1.50 mm, respectively. At baseline, myopic maculopathy was classified (grades C0-C4) as follows: C0 was observed in 200 eyes (27.5%), C1 in 297 eyes (40.9%), C2 in 147 eyes (20.2%), C3 in 22 eyes (3.0%), and C4 in 60 eyes (8.3%). The PVAI was significantly negatively associated with age and positively associated with SD-pre(-Sph), but no significant association between myopic maculopathy classification and axial length was found. After 1 month, 417 eyes (57.4%) gained more than 1 line at BCVA, 250 eyes (34.4%) remained the same, and 59 eyes (8.13%) lost 1 line. The postoperative visual acuity of 52 eyes was improved by more than 3 lines, and 42.3% were grade C4.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>The ICL performed well for the correction of ultrahigh myopia above - 10 D. Younger patients and those with a higher preoperative spherical degree had greater postoperative satisfaction.</p><p><strong>Trial registration: </strong>Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (ChiCTR2000036335). The accuracy of IOL power calculation with the Kane formula was evaluated in comparison with the Barrett Universal II (BUII), Haigis, Hoffer Q, Holladay 1, and Sanders-Retzlaff-Kraff Theoretical (SRK/T) formulas.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Sixty-two eyes of 62 patients aged 6.2 (IQR 3.2-9.2) years were included. The SD values of the prediction error obtained by Kane (1.38) were comparable with those by BUII (1.34), Hoffer Q (1.37), SRK/T (1.40), Holaday 1 (1.41), and Haigis (1.50), all p > 0.05. A significant difference was observed between the Hoffer Q and Haigis formulas (p = 0.039). No differences in the median and mean absolute errors were found between the Kane formula (0.54 D and 0.91 ± 1.04 D) and BUII (0.50 D and 0.88 ± 1.00 D), Hoffer Q (0.48 D and 0.88 ± 1.05 D), SRK/T (0.72 D and 0.97 ± 1.00 D), Holladay 1 (0.63 D and 0.94 ± 1.05 D), and Haigis (0.57 D and 0.98 ± 1.13 D), p = 0.099.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>This is the first study to investigate the Kane formula in pediatric cataract surgery. Our results place the Kane among the noteworthy IOL power calculation formulas in this age group, offering an additional means for improving IOL calculation in pediatric cataract surgery. The visual function was evaluated using the 10-2 and 24-2 Humphrey visual field (VF) (Dublin, California) and contrast sensitivity test. Structural parameters were obtained using RTVue optical coherence tomography and angiography (Fremont, California). Significant loss of macular vessel density (mVD) was defined as VD < 30%. Each participant completed the National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire 25 (NEI-VFQ-25) and questions regarding subjective symptoms of glare.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Fifty-six patients (24.9%) experienced glare and had a lower NEI-VFQ-25 composite score (P = 0.017). The average retinal nerve fiber layer and ganglion cell complex thickness and mean deviation (MD) in the 24-2 VF test were not associated with glare.
