Only healthcare-associated infections caused by Acinetobacter baumannii were considered. 82 CRAB isolates were included in the analysis. Species identification was performed by MALDI TOF, antimicrobial susceptibility was determined phenotypically, and PCR methods were performed to identify resistance genes.\u0000\u0000\u0000RESULTS\u0000Depending on the hospital, the ICU incidence of CRAB infections was from 428.6 to 759.5 per 10,000 admissions and from 0.3 to 21.0 per 10,000 admissions in non-ICUs. CRAB antibiotic susceptibility was highest with cefiderocol (100%), colistin (96%), tigecycline (77%), gentamicin (51%) and ampicillin / sulbactam (36%). The most prevalent blaOXA genes were blaOXA-66-1 (95%) and blaOXA-40 (71%) and additionally, the extended-spectrum β-lactamase gene blaTEM-1 (41%).\u0000\u0000\u0000CONCLUSION\u0000An unexpectedly high incidence of CRAB infections occurred in Polish hospitals. There is a need for effective CRAB prevention and control that includes effective hospital screening, national surveillance, and improved treatment options.

Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a leading cause of acute, typically self-limited, hepatitis worldwide, although immunocompromised patients may develop chronic hepatitis.\u0000\u0000\u0000OBJECTIVES\u0000Here, we evaluated the impact of HEV seropositivity on the clinical course of AIH.\u0000\u0000\u0000PATIENTS AND METHODS\u0000A group of 374 adult patients with AIH (female 68%, age 34 (18-83) years, 38% with liver cirrhosis) was analyzed. Serum HEV IgG and IgM antibodies were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, liver fibrosis was assessed by liver stiffness measurement (LSM), and liver cirrhosis was confirmed with liver histology or LSM.\u0000\u0000\u0000RESULTS\u0000Fifty-five (15%) patients with AIH were HEV IgG-positive. These patients were older (P <0.001) and had higher BMI and higher LSM (both P <0.05). In a multivariable model including ALT and immunoglobulin G, the HEV seropositive status was associated with an increased risk of advanced liver fibrosis with OR 3.69 (95% CI 1.26-10.77, P = 0.02) as reflected by liver stiffness ≥10.5 kPa. HEV IgG seropositivity was, however, not linked with the type of treatment or worse AIH outcome. The seroprevalence of HEV in patients with AIH was lower compared to results available for Polish blood donors (43%).\u0000\u0000\u0000CONCLUSIONS\u0000Patients with AIH and HEV IgG-positive status seem to be at risk of more advanced liver fibrosis. However, the overall seroprevalence of HEV IgG is a lower in patients with AIH than in the blood donors in Poland.

These symptoms can affect various body systems, including the respiratory, nervous, cardiovascular, and digestive systems. The most common complaints are fatigue, shortness of breath, joint pain, taste and smell disorders, as well as problems with memory and concentration. The pathogenesis of the post-COVID-19 syndrome is complicated and not fully understood, but it is likely related to an overactive immune system, disturbances in the intestinal microbiome, and cell and tissue damage caused by the virus. Incorporating a multidisciplinary approach to treating and rehabilitating patients and further research into this syndrome's underlying mechanisms and therapy is crucial for understanding and effectively treating this complex and multi-faced condition.
