Data were collected manually during May 2021 using the search keywords “travel blogs” and “Romania” on the Google search engine (201 entries). Further, both a word frequency analysis (quantitative), and a content analysis (qualitative) were conducted to ascertain which places are most frequently mentioned in tourists’ travel posts, and the words most often used to describe their experience. The results shown that both destination-specific and primary image attributes are essential to understand visitors’ perceptions through travel blogs. Managerial and practical implications also emerge for tourism managers to improve the destination image of Romania.","PeriodicalId":51784,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Tourism Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.3,"publicationDate":"2023-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41505993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this article, we examined the existing concepts of coffee consumption and identified additional consumption domains that may contribute to the growing body of knowledge regarding coffee tourism. The paper used a scoping review approach and Critical Media Discourse Analysis (CMDA). The scoping review examined 152 articles on coffee consumption and coffee tourism published up to 2020. Subsequently, CMDA enabled a more in- depth textual and contextual analysis of the literature. In addition, Leximancer was used to illuminate the prominent scopes of the literature. Three prominent scopes of the literature are identified in the textual analysis: consumer behaviour, place consumption, and ethical consumption. In addition, the contextual findings indicate that coffee tourism studies have increased in recent decades. Furthermore, the social context highlights the dynamic nature of the coffee market landscape in the global North and the global South. Future research directions were suggested, and the managerial implications of these findings were discussed.","PeriodicalId":51784,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Tourism Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.3,"publicationDate":"2023-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44605268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Putting the economic advantages and values first has a critical effect on the Outstanding Universal Value (OUV), which negatively impacts the destination’s sustainability, such as quality of life. This study proposes a sustainability model based on UNESCO OUV to evaluate tourism’s role in a WH destination’s residents’ perception of quality of life. The model was tested on a WH destination Ohrid (North Macedonia). The findings revealed that tourism has a beneficial economic impact while also having a negative influence on the OUV ecological environment and residents’ perception of quality of life. The discussion takes place in UNESCO’s considerations to add Ohrid to the list of WH in Danger due to unsustainable tourism development. The findings encourage destination managers to take responsibility for the OUV resources and to take the necessary actions to improve tourism sustainability. The model can be easily adapted and applied to any WH destination.","PeriodicalId":51784,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Tourism Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.3,"publicationDate":"2023-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43835544","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As such, multiple works associated with this research stream have been developed, with a special focus on the tourist value co-creation. This article presents a conceptual model that aims to aggregate the various dimensions of customer value co-creation with its antecedent and consequent factors in the tourism industry. On the other hand, it proposes practical implications for the tourist organizations building on conceptual contributions. Thus, this article reveals the importance of other constructs of tourist value co- creation which surpass the behavioral dimension of the customer, namely, attitude, significance and recognition. Furthermore, this study systematizes the multiplicity of antecedent and consequent factors, recognizing that they may be grouped into factors associated to the company as well as to the customer.","PeriodicalId":51784,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Tourism Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.3,"publicationDate":"2023-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43963691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We intend to study the influence of five gastronomic/food experience variables on the tourists’ life satisfaction and happiness. After inquiring 352 tourists in Porto, the data were analysed through SEM and SPSS/AMOS software. The results validate the hypotheses concerning refreshment and hedonic/novelty experiences, which improve tourists’ satisfaction and happiness. The adverse experiences reduce the tourists' happiness, and lastly, tourists' life satisfaction with the gastronomic/food experience improves their happiness. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.","PeriodicalId":51784,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Tourism Research","volume":"9 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.3,"publicationDate":"2023-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70691752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The theoretical rationale of this systematic literature review was chosen to clarify the synergies between these constructs, wellbeing and mindfulness to understand how tourists derive meaning from their experiences. The scientific platforms Scopus and Web of Science were selected to conduct the search for journal articles. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the final sample was comprised of 70 articles. The results evidence the holistic character of meaningful experiences in tourism in terms of personal, emotional, wellbeing, relational and behavioural dimensions that enable a better conceptualisation of the construct. These experiences were significantly assessed on life satisfaction, meaning and purpose, emotions, authenticity and mindfulness. This review highlights the potential of positive psychology to maximise tourists' wellbeing through their experiences. It represents an opportunity for the tourism and hospitality industry as well as other entities to enhance tourists’ experiences, such as researchers, psychologists, resident communities and universities. Therefore, this study contributes to future research to better assess meaningful tourist experiences and to tourism companies so they can manage enhanced experiences considering the multidimensional nature of the construct from a positive psychology perspective.","PeriodicalId":51784,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Tourism Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.3,"publicationDate":"2023-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44986767","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The scope of the interview was the impacts of OpenAI's GPT on higher education and academic publishing. Particularly, several questions about the impacts of OpenAI's ChatGPT and other AI-based machine learning models on the hospitality and tourism industry and education were asked. The originality of this paper derives from having the ChatGPT as an interviewee. ChatGPT stated that its use helps instructors delegate monotonous tasks such as grading and focus on more intellectual tasks, and students may utilize ChatGPT to brainstorm ideas. ChatGPT confesses the risk of diminishing critical thinking for students in the case of over-reliance on ChatGPT as well as educational inequalities. For academic work, ChatGPT addressed it cannot be a substitute for human creativity and intellectuality because originality and novelty lack in outputs generated by ChatGPT. The tourism and hospitality industry can benefit from ChatGPT for certain things such as personalized services, content creation, and many more.","PeriodicalId":51784,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Tourism Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.3,"publicationDate":"2023-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45698654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, this study explores the mediating mechanism of service innovation and the moderating impact of organisational resilience on the relationship between a manager’s proactive personality and organisational performance. The study applies resilience theory to support the proposed framework. Using data from several sources, including hotel managers in Cyprus and their staff, the researchers developed a model to illustrate how managers with proactive personalities contribute to organisational performance. Findings from the structural equation modelling revealed that a proactive personality strongly influences organisational performance. Furthermore, service innovation mediates the relationship between organisational resilience and organisational performance of hotels. Finally, this paper discusses the theoretical and managerial implications and limitations of the study as well as future research possibilities.","PeriodicalId":51784,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Tourism Research","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.3,"publicationDate":"2023-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44294417","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
