Information on drugs and therapies: a new independent journal. In this issue birth of a new journal 'Information on drugs and therapies' is announced. The journal offers itself as space for an independent, critical reflection, open to health professionals but also to citizens, of information on - as the title anticipates - drugs and therapies. We hope that the journal will host many nursing contributions as drugs and therapies take up a large amount of nurses working time and attention. The journal, as stated in the editorial, was also created to carry on the work of Prof. Del Favero, a national and international reference for Clinical Pharmacology, who has always been committed to fostering a correct approach to the use of drugs, and founded and was editor of 'Informazione sui Farmaci', the first independent Italian journal for healthcare professionals.</p>","PeriodicalId":516320,"journal":{"name":"Assistenza infermieristica e ricerca : AIR","volume":"44 1","pages":"38-40"},"PeriodicalIF":0.9,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143757212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mandatory memories for 2025, and far beyond. The only widely shared consensus which characterises the times we live in is the perception of a devastating earthquake shaking the political, cultural and institutional scenarios of the global international relations. Besides the now well known, because so often repeated epidemic diffusion of wars (more than 50 in an active state) the aggressiveness of exploitation of nature, and the failure of peace-oriented strategies, have become part of the daily experience of uncertainty: the report of a life in dignity, which was at least a legitimate and universal goal, appears not only as a difficult horizon, but a forbidden framework of research and commitment. Those who are directly and indirectly, professionally and not only citizens of a society, in the frontline of the right of life, are specifically challenged to be not only spectators, but active actors. A Perspective is not the place for a detailed review of what is happening, but a tentative proposal of methods for resisting to the desolation through a disentranced regard to the future. The images of two of the most tragic, symbolic people who are talking with their suffering and resilient lives are proposed as key words for not only understanding but also accompanying our long-term committed research of a future of shared dignity.</p>","PeriodicalId":516320,"journal":{"name":"Assistenza infermieristica e ricerca : AIR","volume":"44 1","pages":"32-37"},"PeriodicalIF":0.9,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143757221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Is it possible, or even mandatory, to confront the unspeakable? The scenes of ferocious destruction of the lives of the Palestinian people have been the dominant protagonists of the international scenario for more than one year without any credible sign of a concrete solution. The world has been the powerless and connivent spectator of what is widely recognised as an exemplary genocide. What has been documented as violation of even the most fundamental human rights has made the repetitive formal condemnations an apparently useless exercise, in front of evidences which defy any definition. What is happening is unspeakable because if coincides with the cancellation of our human society. The only sign of resistance and dignity are the massive protests which are often violently repressed, even in the University campuses. We have included this reflection into the section dedicated to methodology, to underline that for all those working in the field of health (who have also been one of the preferred targets of the genocidal process), the people of Palestine together with all countries and human groups expelled from their rights to life must become the urgent, mandatory, global reminder of the fact that the priorities and the advances in knowledge are made senseless if peace, in all its expressions, continues to be a forbidden word.</p>","PeriodicalId":516320,"journal":{"name":"Assistenza infermieristica e ricerca : AIR","volume":"43 4","pages":"187-190"},"PeriodicalIF":0.9,"publicationDate":"2024-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142809057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The nursing assistant: the main issues in the Italian debate. The recent approval by the State-Regions Conference of the figure of the nurse assistant has sparked a heated debate in the professional community and beyond. Numerous objections have been raised. In this contribution, which has considered what has been published in the press and on the web in the last two months, we attempt to the analyse the pros, the cons, and the main critical issues. Certainly, the nurse assistant should not be considered as a measure to counter the nursing shortage but only as one piece of a set of measures urgently needed to be planned and communicated. However, if implemented carefully with new models of care delivery, and under strict monitorization and assessment of the outcomes on patients and on the organization, nurses may be supported by a dedicated aid, as already happens in other countries.</p>","PeriodicalId":516320,"journal":{"name":"Assistenza infermieristica e ricerca : AIR","volume":"43 4","pages":"191-200"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142809061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
