Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with 156 patients undergoing cardiac surgery in a research hospital. Data were collected using a questionnaire and the \"Attitudes Toward Holistic Complementary and Alternative Medicine Scale.\" Analysis involved descriptive statistics and bivariate correlation. Results: Findings indicate that 16.7% of participants considered conventional medical treatment inadequate. Reasons for CAM use included strengthening the immune system (10.3%) and seeking physical/psychological relaxation (15.4%). Crucially, 71.8% of CAM users failed to disclose this information to healthcare personnel. The mean attitude score was 31.38 ± 4.40, revealing significant positive correlations between CAM use, education level, and the perception of benefit. Conclusion: Consistent inquiry into patients' use of supportive methods is essential for effective postoperative management. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted using an online questionnaire to assess demographics, professional background, gastrointestinal health, and CAIM use. Items also captured knowledge sources, perceived barriers, and facilitators related to the use of CAIM. Results: Constipation was reported by approximately one-quarter of the nurses. About 70% of nurses used CAIM for constipation. The most frequently used modalities were probiotics, dietary fiber, lifestyle modification, and abdominal massage. Nurses primarily acquired knowledge from informal sources rather than evidence-based literature. The primary barrier to CAIM use was limited familiarity, and the main facilitator was fewer side effects. CAIM use was more likely among nurses who met recommended physical activity thresholds. It was not significantly associated with other demographic or professional characteristics. Conclusion: Nurses use CAIM for bowel health, yet reliance on informal sources reveals an evidence-literacy gap. Education, better access to high-quality syntheses, and organizational support may advance evidence-informed integration. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: A total of 146 primiparous women were randomly assigned to intervention (education) or control groups. Data were collected using the Maternity Blues Scale (MBS) and the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS). Results: The intervention and control groups were largely comparable in sociodemographic characteristics; however, significant differences were observed in education level and employment status. No significant differences were found between groups in MBS and EPDS mean item scores (p > 0.05). However, mean scores of the MBS responsibility and socioeconomic subdimensions were lower in the education group (p < 0.05), while the Breastfeeding subdimension score was higher (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Postpartum mood education did not influence overall maternity blues at one week or postpartum depression at 6 weeks. Nevertheless, improvements in subdimensions suggest that education may reduce responsibility and socioeconomic stress while enhancing breastfeeding experiences. From a holistic nursing perspective, these findings indicate that postpartum mood education may contribute to person-centered care. Design: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted. Methods: The study included 410 nursing students enrolled at a state university in western Turkey. Data were collected using a sociodemographic characteristics form, the Spiritual Health Scale, the Spiritual Care-Giving Scale, and the Self-Compassion Scale. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression to identify predictors of self-compassion. Findings: Among the participants, 57.1% were aged 21-23, and 75.9% were female. The mean scores were 93.18 ± 13.49 for spiritual health, 140.25 ± 19.54 for spiritual care-giving, and 3.18 ± 0.55 for self-compassion. Positive and significant correlations were observed between self-compassion and both spiritual health and spiritual care-giving (p < .001). Multiple regression analysis identified spiritual health, spiritual care-giving, gender, academic achievement, psychological support, and participation in religious or faith-based activities as significant predictors of self-compassion (p < .005). Conclusions: The findings indicate that nursing students' self-compassion is closely linked to their spiritual health and perceptions of spiritual care-giving. Palliative care may enhance overall quality of life among older adults experiencing a stroke, but a limited understanding of these patients' holistic needs exists. Objective: To conduct a scoping review of the literature exploring the palliative care needs of older adults with stroke, with the aim of tailoring holistic nursing interventions to improve quality of life. Methods: The review followed Arksey and O'Malley's five-stage framework: formulating the review question; identifying relevant studies; screening and selecting studies; charting the data; and collating, summarizing, and reporting the results. Three online databases (PubMed, Embase, and CINAHL) were searched for studies published between 2014 and 2024 using key terms such as \"palliative care needs,\" \"older adults,\" and \"stroke\". Screening and selection were managed via Endnote and Covidence review management software, guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) guidelines. Results: Eighteen studies emphasize the need for holistic palliative care nursing in older adults with stroke. Five overarching themes emerged: physical functioning, psychosocial and emotional support, informed decision-making, symptom management, and comfort-based care. Conclusion: Integrating holistic palliative care nursing into patient-centered stroke services is vital for improving the quality of life in older adults. This paper re-envisions holistic nursing not merely as a clinical approach but as an ontological and ethical philosophy of wholeness that sustains nursing's identity amid such complexity. Drawing upon Lonergan's interiority as a foundation for moral awareness, Ubuntu's relational ontology, and Foucault's critique of surveillance and power, the paper develops a philosophical framework that reconnects the nurse's being and action. It proposes that the nurse's moral presence arises from interior reflection and relational accountability, enabling resistance to reductionist and algorithmic forces that dehumanize care. By viewing the nurse as a contemplative witness and ethical actor within fragmented systems, this framework invites a return to nursing's core calling-to honor human dignity, cultivate presence, and nurture authentic relationship as the essence of healing. In holistic nursing, self-care is viewed as a professional and ethical responsibility essential to delivering whole-person care. This pilot study, guided by the Integrative Nursing Framework, explored the use of a mobile mindfulness app as a holistic intervention to support nurse well-being. Purpose: To explore how ED nurses experience and manage stress and burnout and to evaluate the effects of a mobile mindfulness app on these outcomes. Methods: An explanatory sequential mixed-methods design was used. Eleven ED nurses used the Headspace app for 4 weeks and completed pre- and post-intervention surveys measuring perceived stress, burnout, mindfulness, and well-being. Nine participants also completed post-intervention interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using Wilcoxon signed-rank tests; qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Results: Perceived stress significantly decreased, while mindfulness and well-being significantly increased. Burnout scores showed no significant change. Themes included usability, personal impact, barriers to engagement, and recommendations for improvement. By redefining traditional paradigms, Watson's model positions transpersonal care as both a theoretical and practical pathway for holistic nursing practice. Empathy, as a foundational human experience present in all care encounters, is central to the holistic development of transpersonal care. This essay explores, from classical and contemporary philosophical perspectives, the concept of empathy within Watson's framework, relating its core concepts to nurse-patient encounters in holistic care. Empathy is examined as an existential mode of being-with-the-other, articulated with concepts such as intercorporeality, comprehensive understanding of the other's experience, and becoming-other. Two of Watson's Caritas® Processes are analyzed as spaces for holistic openness and empathic presence. The discussion highlights the importance of developing practices that transcend the technical-biological model, emphasizing the appreciation of alterity and the cultivation of dignified, sensitive, ethical, and transformative bonds in holistic care. Empathy is also discussed in relation to mindfulness, understood as an intentional practice that integrates body, mind, spirit, and heart, fostering compassionate listening. This study explored nurses' perceptions and experiences, emphasizing holistic care that addresses patients' physical, emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual needs. Design: A descriptive, exploratory qualitative design was used with content analysis. Methods: Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 16 participants and analyzed using traditional content analysis. MAXQDA software was used for coding and organizing the qualitative data. Results: Four main themes emerged: \"Professional Readiness and Communication Competence,\" \"Experiences in Talking About Death,\" \"Factors Shaping Death-Related Communication,\" and \"Internalization of Death and Its Influence on Care.\" Nurses stated that talking about death was influenced by patient requests, disease progression, family expectations, and the nurse's communication skills. Training and expertise were seen as essential. Some nurses felt this task was more appropriate for physicians or psychosocial teams. Conversations included both positive experiences (e.g., offering hope) and challenges (e.g., emotional strain, patient resistance). Nurses described death as both a fearful and natural experience. Design: A cross-sectional, quantitative, web-based questionnaire with minor qualitative elements. Methods: The questionnaire contained both open- and closed-ended questions. It was developed in Qualtrics and sent via email to nurses working on inpatient units at an academic medical center hospital in the southeastern United States. Findings: A total of 348 nurses responded to the questionnaire. Eighty-nine percent of nurses reported having used music in their care. The methods of implementation most employed by nurses were streaming (90%) or encouraging a patient to play music on the patient's personal device (76.8%). Eighty-eight percent of nurses reported that access to music streaming services (e.g., Spotify) would be very helpful or extremely helpful. In response to the open-ended questions, nurses indicated a lack of equipment as the primary barrier to implementing music in care. Conclusion: Nurses reported having a positive attitude toward the use of music, strongly endorsing its utility in patient care.
