As questões dizem respeito ao fato de identificar se as sociedades contemporâneas precisam do conhecimento que a ciência ocupacional está gerando, ou seja, se ele é útil para explicar as mudanças, padrões emergentes, riscos, conflitos, e inequidades perturbam as sociedades. Podemos ser relevantes para a mudança social? O que tento refletir é como validar formas de conhecimento corporificadas, subjetivas, holísticas e coletivas que sejam solidárias e construídas inclusivamente, criando um modelo de conhecimento verdadeiramente integrado, e ainda assim não arriscar o celebrado (e perseguido) status científico. Ao abordar estas questões, aponto para a interligação entre colonização e ciência, e para um processo cientifico que tem largamente desconsiderado as metodologias de conhecimento indígena, o conhecimento artesanal, a intersecção de pensamentos e sentimentos, e a ciencia nativa (ciência nativa), para citar alguns. Coloco também questões desafiadoras sobre se apoiamos os cientistas ocupacionais enquanto eles tentam consolidar novas linhas desafiadoras de investigação, alem de tentar compreender quantos compromissos devemos aceitar para alcançar um estatuto científico que seja semelhante a campos bem estabelecidos.PALAVRAS CHAVE: Ciência ocupacionalprojeto decolonialSul Globaljustiça cognitivaThis article is a translation of:Building knowledge of occupation from the ground up: A field in search of epistemic fairness and social relevance Reconhecimento da territorialidadeEu reconheço que as/os participantes da Conferência Mundial Inaugural de Ciência Ocupacional, que se reuniram em Vancouver, Canadá, vieram de vários locais que eles e elas chamam de lar. Research on arts-based pedagogies to teach occupation within educational programs is emergent and remains limited.Objectives To explore the use of art created by people with acquired brain injury to develop understandings of the lived experiences and occupational impacts of acquired brain injury for graduate students in an entry-to-practice occupational therapy graduate program.Methods First, development of the arts-based pedagogical tool was undertaken through an online review to select works of art that reflected acquired brain injury experience as depicted by people with lived experience. These art pieces were then used to develop a class that facilitated learning of the occupational impacts of acquired brain injury in an entry-to-practice occupational therapy graduate program. A descriptive qualitative approach was then used to explore the learning experiences of five graduate students who participated in a focus group. Reflexive thematic analysis was used to understand the data.Findings: Art facilitated transformative learning experiences for students and was described by three themes: (1) captivating the learner, (2) “whole ‘nother layer”, and (3) inviting exploration and expansion.Conclusions Arts-based pedagogy holds potential to be an enriching teaching and learning tool for critically reflexive engagement, awareness, and deep understanding of the lived experiences and occupational impacts experienced by individuals with acquired brain injury.RESUMEIntroduction: l'art peut être un outil pédagogique transformateur pour l'enseignement des occupations. La recherche sur les pédagogies fondées sur l'art pour enseigner les occupations dans les programmes éducatifs est émergente et reste limitée.Objectifs: explorer l'utilisation de l'art créé par des personnes ayant subi une lésion cérébrale acquise pour développer une compréhension des expériences vécues et des impacts occupationnels de la lésion cérébrale acquise pour les étudiant·es dans un programme d'ergothérapie d'entrée dans la pratique.Méthodes: tout d'abord, le développement de l'outil pédagogique fondé sur l'art a été entrepris par le biais d'une recension en ligne afin de sélectionner des œuvres d'art qui reflètent l'expérience des lésions cérébrales acquises telle qu'elle est décrite par les personnes ayant une expérience vécue. Ces œuvres d'art ont ensuite été utilisées pour développer un cours qui facilite l'apprentissage des impacts occupationnels des lésions cérébrales acquises dans le cadre d'un programme de formation en ergothérapie. Une approche qualitative descriptive a ensuite été utilisée pour explorer les expériences d'apprentissage de cinq étudiant·es diplômé·es qui ont participé à un groupe de discussion. Une analyse thématique réflexive a été utilisée pour comprendre les données.Résultats: l'art a facilité les expériences d'apprentissage transformatrices pour les étudiant·es et ","PeriodicalId":51542,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Occupational Science","volume":"25 16","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135875560","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While research within the field of psychology is robust, little is known about the occupational transition of individuals who leave cults. This study utilized a qualitative interpretive description methodology. Data consisted of 11 first-hand accounts of former members across various multimedia sources (memoirs, podcasts, blogs, and social media posts). The frameworks of doing, being, becoming, and belonging were utilized to guide theme development and enrich the analysis. Data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis and five themes were identified: Forbidden occupations, Fish out of water, Finding closure through occupation, (Re)Discovering self through occupation, and Rebuilding life. This study contributes to occupational science research by examining the occupational transition of leaving a cult. Increasing the knowledge base on this topic will not only increase understanding of this population but generates an opportunity to provide occupation-centered supports to enhance transitions. Additional research that embraces former members’ active participation across the research process and methods that allow for more feedback from former members, including interview-based methods, may further validate the findings of this study and amplify the experience of this population in transition.RESUMEAlors que la formation de sectes dans le monde entier a régulièrement diminué depuis les années 1970, il reste un nombre important d'anciens membres qui ont été marqués par leur participation et qui sont confrontés à des défis uniques lorsqu'ils quittent ces organisations. Bien que la recherche dans le domaine de la psychologie soit solide, on sait peu de choses sur la transition occupationnelle des personnes qui quittent les sectes. Cette étude repose sur un devis qualitatif descriptif et interprétatif. Les données consistaient en 11 récits à la première personne d'ancien·nes membres à travers diverses sources multimédias (mémoires, podcasts, blogues et messages sur les médias sociaux). Le modèle de l'action, de l'être, du devenir et de l'appartenance a été utilisé pour guider le développement des thèmes et enrichir l'analyse. Les données ont fait l'objet d'une analyse thématique réflexive. Cinq thèmes ont été identifiés : les occupations interdites, un poisson hors de l'eau, tourner la page grâce à l'occupation, se (re)découvrir à travers l'occupation, et reconstruire la vie. Cette étude contribue à la recherche en science de l'occupation en examinant la transition occupationnelle liée à la sortie d'une secte. L'approfondissement des connaissances sur ce sujet permettra non seulement de mieux comprendre cette population, mais aussi de générer des mesures de soutien axées sur l'occupation pour faci","PeriodicalId":51542,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Occupational Science","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135222287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
