The involvement of millennial farmers is expected to be a driver in sustainable agricultural development. A study analyzed the factors influencing millennial farmers' interest and the types of entrepreneurship prioritized in implementing integrated farming (IF) in the Trenggalek Regency. The sample selection method used was the Simple Randomized and Clustered Sampling method. The research respondents were 110 millennial farmers who are members of farmer groups aged 17-39. Data were collected using an ordinal scale questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ordinal logistic regression, and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). To overcome the declining interest of millennials in agricultural entrepreneurship, subjective norms or psychological factors such as motive factors and expectation factors need to be considered. These factors can be used as a basis for millennial farmers in choosing priorities for agricultural entrepreneurship. Agro-processing is the leading choice of types of entrepreneurship for millennial farmers, namely Solid Organic Fertilizer, Liquid Organic Fertilizer, Biourine, Probiotics, Vegetable Pesticides, Trichoderma, Refugia, Straw Amofer, and Magot. The priority of agricultural entrepreneurship that has the opportunity to be developed by the millennial generation of agriculture in Trenggalek Regency is agro-industrial entrepreneurship.","PeriodicalId":513854,"journal":{"name":"Anuário do Instituto de Geociências","volume":"53 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141803807","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Long-term monitoring is faced with a lack of empirical data. This study implements Cook’s method to determine the run-off coefficient in the Cisangkuy watershed. This method involved watershed characteristic data such as slope, soil, stream, and vegetation greenness. Run-off related to vegetation greenness, as the component of hydrological responses, data retrieved from satellite imageries (Landsat series) over 30 years using Google Earth Engine were used for this analysis. High-density vegetation areas in the Cisangkuy watershed tended to degrade from 1990 to 2010 and then increased significantly from the last ten years until 2020. Meanwhile, there was no significant change in the run-off coefficient over the 30 years measured. Non-vegetated areas increased over low- and moderate-vegetation lands, especially after 2010. The Cisangkuy watershed has a high run-off coefficient with a larger area compared to other classes with a run-off coefficient of 60-63%. In the Cisangkuy watershed, a decrease in the area of the normal category run-off coefficient contributes to an increase in this phenomenon in the high and extreme classes. The physical characteristics of the watershed, especially in terms of the utilization of water resources and flood mitigation, were examined in this study to achieve sustainable management.","PeriodicalId":513854,"journal":{"name":"Anuário do Instituto de Geociências","volume":"22 17","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141802953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Limited research indicates the feasibility of extracting U and Th from granitic sources, necessitating further studies to optimize leaching efficiency and its potential as a fissionable fuel. This study investigates the leaching efficiency of the uranium 238U and thorium 232Th series, as well as 40K, in granitic soil samples. The study utilized a high-purity germanium detector (HPGe) to quantify the activity levels of the 238U and 232Th series and 40K in the studied samples. The black sand deposit and tin-tailing samples were also utilized to benchmark the finding of the leaching efficiency of the uranium 238U and thorium 232Th in granitic samples. The study found that the leaching samples contained low radioactivity levels that were a few to tenth times lower compared to the original samples, with tin-tailing samples exhibiting the highest leaching activity for 238U (630.05 Bq l-1) and 232Th (512.17 Bq l-1) and comparable to granitic soil samples 238U (437.7 Bq l-1) and 232Th (23.9 Bq l-1). Sulfuric acid showed the most efficient leaching reagent ~ up to 23% and 32% for 232Th and 238U, respectively. In comparison, nitric and hydrochloric acids exhibited low leaching efficiencies, ~ 1 – 13%. Overall, granitic soil shows comparable leaching rates to conventional sources of natural uranium nuclear fuel, making it a potential secondary and alternative nuclear fuel source.","PeriodicalId":513854,"journal":{"name":"Anuário do Instituto de Geociências","volume":"62 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141693354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In these campaigns, a Sun CIMEL photometer was used to measure the microphysical and optical properties of aerosols at wavelengths ranging from 340 to 1020 nm, and a low-cost Purple-air sensor to quantify the concentration of material particulate (PM), in fine and coarse modes. The AOD results indicated values in the range 0.06-0.22. The daily averages of PM2.5 and PM10 did not exceed Peru's current Environmental Quality Standards (50 μg/m3 and 100 μg/m3). The air quality index (AQI) calculated for PM2.5 and PM10 was classified as good. On some days during the campaigns, the air quality was classified as moderate. The aim of the research was to analyze and predict the import of gold and silver jewelry to Slovakia using statistical methods, namely the correlation coefficient and time series analysis. Using the correlation coefficient, we determined the relationship or degree of relation between selected countries of origin based on the amount of gold and silver jewelry (in kg) imported to Slovakia for hallmarking. We obtained an estimate of the future development trend of gold and silver imports into the domestic market from abroad using the time series method, particularly regression analysis and Holt-Winterson methods. It was found that the import of gold jewelry to Slovakia from the studied countries has an upward trend and, conversely, the import of silver jewelry has a downward trend.","PeriodicalId":513854,"journal":{"name":"Anuário do Instituto de Geociências","volume":"24 18","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141004861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this particular type of engineering work, soils saturated by water present changes in their mechanical properties (especially in the first filling), which usually cause a simultaneous loss of stiffness and shear strength. In this context, the software UNSTRUCT presents itself as a very useful tool, as it allows calculating the final state of stress x strain for a plane strain state, using the Finite Element Method, both for saturated and unsaturated embankments, considering an elastic model and the effect of suction (and its variation), through a stiffness variation technique. The present research used UNSTRUCT to assess the behavior of the embankment of a hypothetical earth dam, varying the features of its typical cross-section: homogeneity; internal drainage structures; geometry along a longitudinal profile; and the influence of the compaction level. The results showed that the soil responded better to strains for the scenario of better compaction along the dry branch of the compaction curve, as well as with the use of a vertical drainage element. It was also observed that the strains were higher when greater sections considered, which, in a real situation, would cause distortions along the longitudinal profile of the dam. The software UNSTRUCT proved to be efficient in obtaining and visualizing the modeling results, also making it possible to analyze the development of failure over time after the dam was filled. With UNSTRUCT, a more realistic analysis of the behavior of the hypothetical dam – considering factors that are specific to unsaturated soils – was possible. Worth mentioning also that the software allowed the appraisal of multiple changes in the dam’s geometry and parameters.","PeriodicalId":513854,"journal":{"name":"Anuário do Instituto de Geociências","volume":"33 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140700295","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, multivariate statistical techniques were applied by means of a Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Hierarchical Cluster Analysis (HCA). The PCA allowed a reduction of physicochemical parameters and determined the two components responsible for approximately 86% of total variance in the data for both sampling periods (rainy and dry). The first component is represented by variables that indicate natural rock weathering processes, and the second comprises seasonality and pollution indicators. Samples were also correlated through HCA according to compositional similarities, which were associated with possible natural or human sources.","PeriodicalId":513854,"journal":{"name":"Anuário do Instituto de Geociências","volume":"82 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140746961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, cities and communities along rivers obtain water from tube wells without studying the chemical quality and, consequently, the potability of their water. In specific geological contexts, there is a significant probability of natural contamination by arsenic in groundwater in the region, already attested in previous works in the Solimões, Madeira and Amazonas rivers basins, but not yet found in the Negro river basin. As the Negro is the second largest river in the Amazon Basin, it has become necessary to study the chemical quality of its groundwater, relating it to the geology of the region. In this work, water samples were collected from 21 wells and 4 water springs used for human consumption, following the protocols proposed by the US – EPA. In the field, the physicochemical parameters of the in-situ water were measured, and alkalinity tests were carried out on the samples. The cations were analyzed at INPA and the anions at the Geological Survey of Brazil (SGB). From the 25 samples, 16 had analises results within acceptable ionic balance values, and 12 of the 16 had at least one of the following elements in concentration above World Health Organization and Brazilian Guideline Values: Al, As, Fe, Mn and Pb. The presence of values below the GV, but above what is considered natural, of NO3- in 66% of the contaminated points, associated with the shallow depth of most of the wells, installed in areas of recent sedimentary deposits and that do not show any or few signs of care demonstrate that the contamination in these localities is of anthropic origin. Two samples (16% of the contaminated samples) are from deep wells installed in fractured aquifers, which in this case indicate contamination of geogenic origin. Arsenic was found in association with iron and aluminum in a well installed in alluvial sediments, which indicates that more studies are needed for this specific geologic formation to know the quality of this water. For other locations and cities, short, medium and long-term measures are needed to prevent anthropogenic contamination of aquifers.","PeriodicalId":513854,"journal":{"name":"Anuário do Instituto de Geociências","volume":"121 19","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140370138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As most reservoirs do not outcrop and all the data obtained are restricted to those collected from wells located in areas of major interest or from indirect measurements, the study of analogous outcrops has brought important contributions to improve the production routines and still represents a helpful information resource. The use of data from analogous outcrops permits, for example, to estimate the sedimentary facies distribution in true reservoirs, and thus to improve on the reliability of fluid flow modeling during the oil field exploration. However, such data must be processed to become equivalent to the data collected under the reservoir conditions and the results obtained to be more realistic. This work presents the statistical method used to make permeability data obtained from an outcrop compatible with the subsurface conditions of poorly consolidated and tectonically deformed sandstone reservoirs. The studied outcrop is predominantly composed of Eocene fluvial sandstones (Resende Formation) of the Volta Redonda Basin, located in the Central Segment of the Continental Rift of Southeastern Brazil. These deposits are affected by deformation bands and faults. From statistical analysis, it was intended that the permeability data become more suitable to be used, in the next phase of the studies, to build a 3D flow model, in which it will be possible to test the potential of different tectonic structures acting as hydraulic barriers in poorly consolidated and deformed reservoirs. The methodological approach applied in this study made it possible to turn compatible the permeability data obtained in conditions of no confining pressures from the outcrop with reservoir conditions under confinement pressures of 2,000 psi. Such pressure conditions are frequently observed in important Maastrichtian reservoirs found in the Brazilian Southeastern Margin.","PeriodicalId":513854,"journal":{"name":"Anuário do Instituto de Geociências","volume":"125 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140378615","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
