The eight factors examined in this study are relative advantage, complexity, compatibility, trialability, observability, ICT infrastructure, top management support, and regulatory environment. A questionnaire‐based survey was used to collect data from 156 accounting lecturers belonging to academic institutions in southeast Nigeria. Relevant hypotheses were derived and tested by multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that relative advantage, compatibility, trialability, and top management support, firm size have a significant effect on the adoption of cloud ERP and BDA at 5% and 10% respectively. Complexity, ICT infrastructure and regulatory environment are negatively associated with cloud ERP and BDA adoption. The research was conducted from the perspective of academia, which may limit the generalisability of the findings. The findings offer insights into factors that influence the adoption of cloud ERP and BDA in the Nigerian context such a better understanding can inform policymakers and decision-making in organisations. The research contributes to the literature using the TOE and DOI frameworks to identify the implication of technology-based cloud ERP and BDA computing through the use of a wide range of variables.","PeriodicalId":511341,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Comprehensive Business Administration Research","volume":"39 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141798745","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objectives were to determine the correlation between trend values of FX with export and import shipping trades in Nigeria. Provisional data on Foreign Exchange Reserve, export and import trades from World Bank, CBN and Trend Economy were analyzed using spearman’s rank correlation coefficient analysis and it was observed that Foreign Exchange positively influences export and import shipping trades, however, the study infers that the impacts were not significant at 0.05 (2-tailed) Significance level. It concludes that the positive correlations between the data variables informs that decrease in FX influences decrease in export and import trade which also retar economic growth, development and reduced people’s standards of living in Nigeria. However, the reserve becomes the case. The study recommends immediate policy adjustment to hold and maintain strong Foreign Exchange which could boost country’s reserve for better performance of the shipping industry and other sectors of the economy.","PeriodicalId":511341,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Comprehensive Business Administration Research","volume":"19 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141661192","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent times, board gender diversity has attracted the attention of policymakers, regulators, and academics. This study explored the influence of board gender diversity on corporate performance. The sample of the study consists of 15 consumer goods companies on the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) from 2012 to 2021. The study uses fixed effects regression to estimate the model. The evidence indicates that gender diversity ‘proxied’ by female directors on the boards has a positive outcome and significantly affects corporate performance. Hence, consumer goods companies may perform better as a whole if they have more female directors on their boards. The findings is consistent with prior study and with resource dependency theory. The study suggests that companies with zero female directors should hire them while those with a single female director should consider adding more since corporate performance will be improved as a result.","PeriodicalId":511341,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Comprehensive Business Administration Research","volume":"32 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141344019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It presents a novel probabilistic lens to comprehend uncertainty and its impact on entrepreneurial theory and practice, highlighted through analysing decision-making behaviour via the Monty Hall problem. The deterministic perspective is called into question when entrepreneurship is depicted as an agent whose outcomes are indeterminate and probabilistically predetermined. Entrepreneurs effectively handle risk and uncertainty, venturing into uncharted territories to attain possible benefits. The research distinguishes between probabilists, who base their decision-making on likelihoods, and possibilists, who investigate the attainable through imaginative potential. This possibilist approach incorporates concepts of contingency and potential, recognising both the potential outcomes and the associated dangers, making a valuable contribution to practical application. Theoretically, this paper contributes to the entrepreneurship literature by offering the Many-Doors model as a tool for understanding the complex interplay between an individual’s inclination towards probability or possibility and their entrepreneurial decisions. This conceptual model functions as a link integrating elements of risk, uncertainty, and strategic choice, thereby broadening the theoretical frameworks used to analyze entrepreneurial behaviour, potentially resulting in a more holistic understanding of entrepreneurial dynamics.","PeriodicalId":511341,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Comprehensive Business Administration Research","volume":"31 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141341517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The advantages of teleworking include improved productivity and job satisfaction for employees, reduced overhead costs for employers, and decreased carbon footprint for the environment. However, the benefits and challenges of telework, especially on back-office employees in their organisations, are still not fully investigated. This project researched the demand for telework from New Zealand back-office personnel after the COVID-19 pandemic and the drivers for this need. The research used a mixed-methods approach with qualitative and quantitative approaches to achieve the research objective. A questionnaire consists of the Likert scale, open-ended, and multiple-choice questions was used to collect quantitative data. In order to get insightful qualitative information about the research question, semi-structured structured interviews were used. The findings of the research revealed that there is a significant demand for telework among the back-office employees in New Zealand, and predominantly they prefer a hybrid telework model.","PeriodicalId":511341,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Comprehensive Business Administration Research","volume":"28 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141354691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The existing works did not present any intelligent startup suitability prediction for funding and investor assistance mobile applications by taking into account growth rate, annual profit, rating, and reputation factors. This paper initiates a machine learning-based recommendation system for predicting suitable startups and matching them with appropriate investors. The proposed system leverages a comprehensive dataset of startup and investor characteristics, including market segment, geographical region, and city. In comparison with Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) schemes, our results show that TF-IDF scheme (Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency) is selected for startup recommendation due to its high recall and precision value. Our investor assistance mobile application offers features like login, apply for funds, best funder recommendation, best entrepreneur selection, and user rating features. Our application evaluation results indicated the more than 60 percent users are satisfied with the feasibility of the proposed mobile application.","PeriodicalId":511341,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Comprehensive Business Administration Research","volume":"88 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141376453","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Capital structure which considers how a company combine its mix of equity and debt in financing its business is important to its overall operations and growth. To conduct this research, eight healthcare firms listed on the NSE were deliberately chosen. The study examined the financial data of various firms, through their annual reports. The data included short-term and long-term debts, equity (the value of a company's shares), return on equity, and size. The study used correlation and regression for its analysis. The results showed that short-term debt, long-term debt, and equity had a negative but significant relationship with return on equity. However, the size of the company had a positive and significant relationship with return on equity. Based on the findings, the study recommends that healthcare firms should consider using long-term debts to increase the time to repay the borrowed capital and generate more profit.","PeriodicalId":511341,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Comprehensive Business Administration Research","volume":"7 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141271961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing studies have shown that uncertainty has a significant negative impact on project performance. Some strategies to deal with uncertainty have been proposed; however, they lack systematic attention to PPP contract governance. This paper builds a theoretical framework of PPP contract governance under the constraints of “behavior and environment” through the derivation of classic theories. The framework includes four theoretical variables: output-based specification, good-faith cooperation, flexibility, and public interest protection. The theoretical framework was tested empirically based on data from 368 respondents of a set of survey questionnaires regarding water environment PPP projects. Results reveal that the four theoretical variables are an organic unity and that PPP contract governance and its four dimensions have a positive impact on project performance. Meanwhile, this paper uses the NVivo12 quantitative analysis tool to identify the PPP mechanism: PPP contract governance promotes project performance through the prevention and reduction of behavioral, environmental, and semantic uncertainties. These findings provide evidence from the context of developing countries, such as China, for the improvement of PPP contract governance theory. Moreover, these findings contribute empirical experience and wisdom from contract governance theory to the improvement of long-term project performance.","PeriodicalId":511341,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Comprehensive Business Administration Research","volume":"31 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141110825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Scholars in various fields have been making progress in exploring the contributions of GSCM and GHRM towards the development of sustainable firms. However, it is worth noting that integrating these two cutting-edge topics has been significantly delayed, mostly due to a substantial gap in the integration of SCM and HRM. The objective of this study is to present a comprehensive framework that combines and enhances the interaction between these two elements, as well as to suggest a research agenda for further exploration of this integration. This study employs the ability-motivation-opportunity theory framework to examine the influence of GHRM, GSCM, and environmental strategy on firm performance. The researchers employed a structural equation model (SEM) to examine the hypotheses, utilizing a sample of 640 survey questionnaires obtained from manufacturing firms. The findings indicate that there is a positive relationship between GHRM and firm performance. Additionally, the findings indicate that GSCM serves as a positive and significant mediator in the association between GHRM and firm performance. Ultimately, the study's results and ramifications are revealed to serve as valuable policy tools for various entities such as manufacturing firms, administrations, and other relevant parties of supply chain.","PeriodicalId":511341,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Comprehensive Business Administration Research","volume":"11 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141120946","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Focusing on a product from the JD.com e-commerce platform, historical data spanning the past three years are analyzed, considering factors such as shipping costs, product inventory, product costs, and the impact of holidays. The study employs the Double Deep Q Network (DDQN) for dynamic pricing optimization of the product and compares its performance with the DQN model. The results indicate that both the DQN algorithm and DDQN algorithm lead to varying degrees of profit improvement for dynamic pricing of products. Specifically, the pricing profit with the DQN algorithm increased by an average of 1.925% compared to the original pricing profit, while the pricing profit with the DDQN algorithm increased by an average of 11.975% compared to the original pricing profit. These findings demonstrate practical significance.","PeriodicalId":511341,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Comprehensive Business Administration Research","volume":"171 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141001950","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
