The spectrum of statistical dimensions of the cast iron microstructure was calculated using the Renyi formula. The hardness of chromium-nickel cast iron was determined at three points of the sample. It was found that the pairwise correlation coefficients for predicting hardness by traditional structure characteristics (length, diameter, area) were R2= 0.73...0.87. When assessing hardness indicators by multifractal characteristics, the correlation coefficients are\u00000.78...0.88 for the pearlite structure with flake graphite and 0.81...0.93 for the pearlite structure with spherical graphite. The sensitivity coefficients of the hardness indicators of СПХН-43 rolls to the information and correlation dimensions of carbides, as well as to the fractal and statistical D-100 dimensions of flake graphite were determined. The sensitivity of hardness indicators to the fractal and statistical D100 dimensions of carbides and to the fractal and correlation dimensions of flake graphite was determined for СПХНФ-47 rolls. Based on the results obtained, an approach to assessing the hardness of СПХН-43 and СПХНФ-47 rolls was developed, which includes: 1). Determination of the statistical dimension spectrum of the cast iron structure elements. 2). Determination of the sensitivity coefficients of hardness indicators to the spectrum of dimensions of structural elements. 3). Creation of a mathematical model for\u0000predicting the hardness of rolls. The considered approach can be interpreted as an alternative method for assessing the quality criteria of cast irons based on the analysis of their structure.

The method involves the periodic introduction of energy through an unfocused laser beam into a layer of condensate formed on the surface of the laser beam input window.\u0000The focus of such a cleansing laser beam is located outside the vacuum chamber, ensuring the absence of unauthorized activation of the plasma source, and the optical axis is perpendicular to the input window surface, providing optimal conditions for removing the formed condensate film. The periodicity of cleansing the laser beam\u0000input window, which determines the window throughput, is based on the condition of ensuring the probability of vacuum arc excitation not below a specified level. The area of the cleansing laser beam unfocusing spot Sunf on the laser beam input window surface facing the plasma source cathode is determined under the condition of ensuring the power density q of the laser radiation on the cleansed surface in the range of 104 ≤ q ≤ 105 W/cm2 and the condition Sunf ≥ Sexc, where Sexc is the area of the laser beam spot that excites the vacuum arc discharge on the input window\u0000surface facing the plasma source cathode. The vacuum arc excitation in the pulsed plasma source using the proposed method, which allows removing the condensate layer on the laser beam input window, is characterized by a stable 95% probability of exciting the vacuum arc at a pulse repetition frequency of 300 Hz, regardless of the plasma source operating duration.

Modernization/improvement of design strategies for scheduled repairs and tests of active safety systems determines the need to develop appropriate methods for qualification (substantiation) of modernized strategies. There is presented a risk-informed method for qualifying modernizations of strategies for scheduled repairs of active safety systems, taking into account experience in operation, scheduled repairs and tests, as well as the current reliability of the main equipment. The developed method is based on the following provisions. The determining reliability indicator when qualifying strategies for scheduled repairs of active safety systems is the safety unavailability factor, which determines the probability of a critical failure at the current time depending on the critical failure rate established in scheduled tests/repairs over the expired operation life. A critical failure here means a failure to perform safety functions (for example, failure to turn on a pump, forced shutdown of a pump due to a violation of operability conditions, leaks in the circuits of active safety systems, etc.). The qualification criterion to modernize strategies for scheduled repairs of active safety systems is a risk function that determines the ratio of the safety unavailability factors of the design and modernized strategies for scheduled repairs of active safety systems. Condition for successful qualification is the safety unavailability factor of the modernized strategy for scheduled repairs is not greater than the safety unavailability factor of the design strategy for scheduled repairs. Based on the developed method, modernized strategies for scheduled repairs of active safety systems of the WWER-1000 reactor were substantiated and the conditions for the applicability of the modernized strategies were determined.

This technique is based on the interpretation of experimentally obtained nonlinear dependences of the steady-state distance between spiral’s turns in relation to the inverse undersaturation by numerical simulation performed using the analytical solution of the Barton, Cabrera, and Frank diffusion problem, taking into account the step kinetic coefficient and the back stress effect. The linear tension value of steps with one-ion height is found to be less than half the linear tension value of steps with two-ion height. This suggests that the studied vicinal surfaces are thermodynamically stable. The proposed technique can also be applied to other alkali halide crystals.

Both the anomalies themselves and the deformation effects are associated, we believed, with hole↔electron conversion, which changes the ratio of the areas of electron and hole of the Fermi surface sheets. The kinetic data are compared with the temperature behavior of the spontaneous magnetization (Is) of the equiatomic AlCoCuCrNiFe alloy, which contain a set of 3-d ferromagnets in almost the same proportions. Interest in AlCoCuCrNiFe is caused by presence of the anomaly in Is(Т) in the same temperature range where the kinetic features of Al0.5CoCuCrNiFe we observed.
