Because surface of multi-point die is discontinuous, the sheet metal will produce dimple during the forming process, which will affect the forming effect. In order to suppress the dimple, this paper takes parabolic spherical parts as the research object, and discusses the influence of swinging unit and discrete elastic cushion on the dimples of forming parts by numerical simulation. The results show that the strain and thickness distribution are more uniform and the dimples on the surface of the forming parts are obviously reduced when the swinging unit is used. The use of discrete elastic cushions on the fixed unit and the swinging unit can further suppress the dimples of the forming part and improve the forming accuracy. In order to verify the correctness of the numerical simulation, the multi-point die for swinging unit with discrete elastic cushion was used to carry out the flexible stretch forming test of the parabolic spherical part. The test results are in agreement with the numerical simulation results, which shows that the methods are reliable and feasible.","PeriodicalId":510378,"journal":{"name":"Materials Research Express","volume":"42 33","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141800072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The two-dimensional semi-metallic carbon nitride g-C4N3 is an excellent candidate for electrochemical reactions owing to its eminent conductivity and stability. Here, using density functional theory (DFT) a series of low-budget non-noble transition metal single-atom (SAC) loaded on the g-C4N3 (named as TM@C4N3, TM=Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu) were investigated as electrocatalysts for OER and ORR. Ni@C4N3 shows an enormous application potential as electrode material, with OER and ORR overpotentials of 0.59 V and 0.23 V, respectively. The second lowest binding energy between Ni and support g-C4N3 indicates that Ni@C4N3 possesses good overall stability. The d-band center as well as metal valence as the descriptor exhibit good agreement with the adsorption energy of the intermediate. A linear relationship exists among the adsorption energies of the three intermediates O, OH, and OOH, given the similarity that they are all bonded to the metal through one oxygen atom. By adjusting the adsorption energy of these intermediates, the catalytic activity of electrocatalysts can be tuned for OER and ORR. This study confirmed that Ni@C4N3 is a good bifunctional catalyst and provides important guidance for the design of bifunctional electrocatalysts for OER and ORR.","PeriodicalId":510378,"journal":{"name":"Materials Research Express","volume":"53 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141804673","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to fabricate these micro-supercapacitors, we have developed a promising and user-friendly approach for printing a conductive functional ink containing a ternary composite of manganese dioxide (MnO2) nanoparticles, Graphene, and polyaniline (PANI) as a dopant. Screen-printing technique was employed to fabricate micro-supercapacitors using the nanocomposite conductive ink. The performance of the energy storage device was examined using flexible symmetric and asymmetric, with an aqueous 1M KOH electrolyte. According to this strategy, the characterisation and electrochemical study results revealed that doping PANI into both symmetric and asymmetric devices significantly increased the material's capacitive performance of areal capacitance 167 mFcm-² for MnO2/Graphene/PANI-5 composite (MGP-5) and 292.5 mFcm-² for asymmetric supercapacitor (ASSC) at 5 mVs-1. Furthermore, the asymmetric supercapacitor displayed outstanding cyclic stability, retaining 93.6% of its capacitance after 10000 cycles. This underscores the possibility of incorporating polyaniline (PANI) into MnO2 and graphene matrices as efficient blueprints for the development of superior electrode materials. The improvement represents a significant step forward, opening avenues for the future development of novel devices and their integration into top-of-the-line flexible energy storage systems.","PeriodicalId":510378,"journal":{"name":"Materials Research Express","volume":"17 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141804346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Additionally, additive manufacturing has widened the possibilities for producing intricate geometries. With this in mind, a novel architected metamaterial based on dihedral tiling is presented here, and its mechanical response is characterized experimentally. The architecture comprises two shapes: a pentagon and rhombuses, arranged in a manner dependent on each other. Three parameters were defined as variables to generate several design variations and analyze the impact of geometry on their effective mechanical properties: pentagon edge length (l), pattern rotation angle (theta), and strut thickness (t). For this purpose, the selected designs were additively manufactured using Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) and tested under compression. It was found that t is directly proportional to relative density, and consequently, to apparent stiffness, while l is inversely proportional to both properties. On the other hand, theta has a minor influence on apparent stiffness and is more related to the deformed shape obtained. Overall, it was observed that the response depends on the combination of all geometrical parameters, meaning the apparent properties cannot be related to the response of only one of the shapes. This behavior differs from lattices based on a singular shape, in which the properties of the whole metamaterial are usually related to those of the unit cell.","PeriodicalId":510378,"journal":{"name":"Materials Research Express","volume":"37 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141806099","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The single-layer Bi-LSTM model adeptly predicts experimental stress-strain curves obtained under different deformation temperatures and strain rates, demonstrating superior effectiveness and excellent performance in modeling hot deformation behaviors of the FGH98 nickel-based alloy and TiAl intermetallic alloy. The present model achieves the coefficient of determination of 0.9051 for FGH98 and 0.9307 for TiAl alloys, whereas the corresponding values of 0.8105 and 0.8356 are obtained by the conventional strain-compensated Sellars constitutive equation (SCS model). However, the conventional precious metal coatings used on the bipolar plates (BPPs) and porous transport layers (PTLs) of the PEM water electrolysis cell to prevent their oxidation are problematic because of their high cost; indeed, the BPPs and PTLs combined are the largest contributor (50–70%) to the total cost of PEM water electrolysis stacks. Here, the Pt-coated PTL on the oxygen electrode side of a PEM water electrolysis cell was replaced with one with an alternative low-cost material coating (Ti4O7 or NiTiP), and the water electrolysis characteristics of the system were evaluated. Deposition pressures of 0.6 Pa, 0.8 Pa, 1.0 Pa, 1.2 Pa, and 1.4 Pa were used during the deposition process. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the B/WS2 composite coating were characterized, and friction and wear experiments were conducted. The study found that the microhardness of the B/WS2 composite coating decreased as the deposition pressure increased. The highest hardness of the coating, reaching 8.1GPa, was observed at a deposition pressure of 0.6 Pa. This was due to the formation of Tungsten tetraborate (WB4) during the deposition process, which had a high hardness and improved the mechanical properties of the coating. The wear life of the B/WS2 composite coating was at its best, reaching 9.9×104 cycles, and the friction coefficient was at its lowest when the deposition pressure was 1.2 Pa. This can result in pilot eye fatigue and pose a serious threat to flight safety. To address this problem, a bionic moth eye antireflection structure is designed and prepared on the windshield glass surface using a combination of self-assembly and reactive ion beam technology. The aim is to reduce the surface reflectivity of the windshield glass and prevent glare. The anti-reflective structure comprises of conical structures with a size cycle of 100 nm and a structure height of 150 nm. The surface of both sides is microstructured, resulting in a reduction of surface reflectivity from 8% to 0.5% at the wavelength of 300 nm to 800 nm. The passing rate is increased from 92% to 99.5%, and the applicable angle is greater than 60 °. The anti-glare ability is improved by about 16 times.
