The teaching case management system aims to provide a platform for communication and sharing of teaching resources, solve the problem of scattered and fragmented teaching resources, improve resource accessibility and utilization efficiency, and support centralized management of teaching resources and interaction and cooperation among users. This paper develops a fully functional teaching case management system based on the needs of modern Internet technology and education informatization. The system integrates the web page development technology of the Internet, through the standardized and procedural design concept, and based on in-depth analysis of educational practice needs. The system mainly includes user management module, teaching case management module, and teaching case forum module, providing a convenient, efficient, interactive, and quality oriented platform for teachers and students to share and access teaching case resources. The final output of the project can support the centralized management of teaching resources and the cooperation between users, and can help teachers and students choose teaching resources more pertinently, at the same time, optimize the management, sharing and utilization of teaching cases, and promote the sharing and interaction of resources. This project not only implements a fully functional teaching case management system, but also explores the development practice of modern web applications, which has important theoretical and practical significance for promoting educational informatization and improving teaching interactivity.\u0000","PeriodicalId":508901,"journal":{"name":"Higher Education Research","volume":"111 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141126776","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It examines how integrating online and in-person formats can serve these objectives and how evaluation techniques can enhance the quality of teaching offerings. The shift towards lifelong learning (LLL) and catering to individual student needs are regarded as pivotal concerns. The paper presents various developmental fields within higher education, emphasizing the need to cultivate a learner-centric culture that supports self-directed learning. The integration of online and in-person formats as part of a flexible teaching concept is discussed as a solution for individualizing and flexibilizing learning. Additionally, the evaluation of teaching as a quality measure is deliberated, emphasizing the importance of effective evaluation methodologies. The work concludes with a contemplation on the future of university education, advocating for a balanced blend of online and in-person formats. This strategy aims to foster flexibility and individualization in learning to meet the demands of self-directed and lifelong learning. The article notes that experiences from the pandemic should be integrated into future university teaching rather than reverting to previous norms. The open questions, particularly regarding the integration of AI applications like chatbots and their impact on instruction, are highlighted as pivotal for further developments in higher education.","PeriodicalId":508901,"journal":{"name":"Higher Education Research","volume":"11 18","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140754031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this paper is to present a new methodology applied to ensure quality of learning process within virtual learning environments. Our case study focused on the model of quality control adopted by Syrian Virtual University (SVU), which is pioneer in the field of virtual learning in the Middle East and the Arab region. The methodology is based on SET methodology (Students Evaluation Test) and defined by the assessments of each of the four pillars of learning process: (1) Assessment of tutors performed by learners; (2) Assessment of tutors performed by the administration; (3) Assessment of tutors performed by their peers; (4) Self-assessment of tutors. The last two procedures have not been yet implemented within SVU, while other procedures are in continuous development in order to improve their results. The importance of this model comes from its flexibility, its appliance since 2018 in a virtual education establishment (Syrian Virtual University), its possible generalization to any similar environment with virtual academic programs.","PeriodicalId":508901,"journal":{"name":"Higher Education Research","volume":"53 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140752574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Computer-assisted testing, as a new examination system, has gained attention and recognition from educators. It has reformed traditional teaching models to a certain extent, liberating teachers from repetitive and labor-intensive teaching activities while improving the overall teaching quality. Taking the application of the iTEST paperless testing system in English Listening course as an example, this study establishes a testing template and evaluates the role of the iTEST system in teaching. The research methods used in this study include quantitative and qualitative research methods, such as interviews and statistical analysis. By collecting feedback from students and teachers who have used the iTEST system, the study aims to understand the advantages and limitations of the iTEST system as perceived by teachers. Through statistical analysis, the study evaluates the examination results of the iTEST system and compares them with those of traditional paper-based tests. The results indicate that the iTEST paperless testing system can effectively enhance the teaching outcomes of English Listening courses, providing students and teachers with a more flexible, efficient, and accurate testing experience.","PeriodicalId":508901,"journal":{"name":"Higher Education Research","volume":"253 22","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140448377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
