This scoping review aims to examine the beneficial outcomes and intakes of omega-3 and omega-6 PUFA among children. An electronic database search on academic journals published from 2017 to 2021 was conducted using Science Direct, PubMed, and Google Scholar. A total of 35 studies were identified and included in this scoping review. Majority of the findings found that PUFAs intake has a beneficial impact on the growth development, mental and cognitive health among children whether they are malnourished, sick or healthy individuals. Overall, this review may provide additional information on the benefits and recommended intake of supplementing PUFAs on children. More detailed research on this topic is needed to support these findings since it will contribute to the formation of the dietary intervention.","PeriodicalId":506570,"journal":{"name":"November 2023","volume":"6 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139278408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research discerns the complex influence of meteorological parameters and air pollutants influencing O3 concentrations. Methods: Data were acquired from 1 January 2018 until 31 December 2020 that including ozone (O3), nitrogen oxide (NOx), nitric oxide (NO), sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), carbon monoxide (CO), particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5), wind speed, solar radiation, temperature, and relative humidity (RH). Data were analysed using descriptive statistics in terms of line graphs. Results: The results demonstrate that the O3 concentration peaked around 14:00 hours and dropped at night (20:00 hours) owing to the lack of sunshine and redox processes. Conclusion: In conclusion, ozone precursors played an important role in ozone formation and the findings of this research are valuable for policymakers and other interested parties.","PeriodicalId":506570,"journal":{"name":"November 2023","volume":"9 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139278498","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These may contribute to overweight, obesity and co-morbidities. The aim of the study was to determine the association of food choices motives, physical activity (PA) level and body mass index status among undergraduates in Universiti Sains Malaysia. Methods: A total of 125 undergraduate students were recruited. Self-reported online questionnaire was administered to obtain information about sociodemographic information, anthropometric measurements, food choice motives using Food Choices Questionnaire and physical activity using the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire. The association between food choice motive, PA and body mass index was assessed using Spearman correlation and Fisher`s Exact Test. Results: The three most important food choice motives are religion, price and sensory appeal. A total of 16% of the subjects were underweight, 19.2% were overweight and 11.2% were obese. 21.6% of the students had low PA level. There was significant inverse association between sensory appeal and BMI (p = 0.002, r = - 0.269). Physical activity was not significantly different between BMI categories. Conclusion: Those who have lower BMI reported to have greater sensory appeal, but association between PA and body mass index had no significant difference. Future studies are required for understanding the direct impact of food choice motives on dietary quality and its association with PA motivation and BMI status for reducing the prevalence of obesity among undergraduates.","PeriodicalId":506570,"journal":{"name":"November 2023","volume":"31 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139278957","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is rare and accounting for less than 2% of cases in malignant gynaepathology. To date, only a few reported cases of leiomyosarcoma arising from leiomyoma documented in the literature. We shared an uncommon occurrence of leiomyosarcoma arising from leiomyoma. Presented herein is a case of a ‘rare epithelioid subtype’ of leiomyosarcoma arising from a leiomyoma in a postmenopausal woman. We highlighted the importance of recognizing the possibilities of this event to allow for a timely diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma and to provide insights on management of patients presented with clinically presumed fibroid.","PeriodicalId":506570,"journal":{"name":"November 2023","volume":"52 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139278366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The disease is treatable by a minimum of six months of anti-TB drugs. However, prolonged duration of treatment using directly observed therapy (DOT) causes significant inconvenience to patients and is ineffective in improving treatment outcomes. Therefore, incorporating the Health Belief Model into the development of digital technology could help change behaviour and improve adherence. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of mobile applications in improving TB medication adherence. Methods: This study proposed to conduct a randomized trial among TB patients in the Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, and Putatan districts of Sabah, Malaysia. The eligible sample will be randomly assigned to the mobile application DOT arm and standard DOT arm. The primary outcome is the adherence level calculated by the percentage of medication observed divided by the intended dose taken in two months, with 80% and more successfully observed treatment considered highly adherent. The secondary outcomes are health-related quality of life, satisfaction, and monthly household income. Multiple logistic regression and repeated measures ANCOVA will be used to determine the effectiveness of interventions to achieve primary and secondary outcomes. Discussion: The findings from this study could hopefully provide insight into rethinking TB care delivery to achieve better TB treatment outcomes. This study aimed to determine whether there is a difference in the morphology of intestinal mucosa between mice treated with Dawood fasting and those fed an ad libitum (AL) diet. Methods: An experimental study used ten mice (BALB/c) divided into two groups. One group was given food and drink AL (the AL group). The treatment group (the F group) fasted intermittently in 14-hour (5 p.m. to 7 a.m.) every other day. The study was conducted for 56 days. The faeces from the intestine were diluted 100-fold and cultured for microbiota colony counts. Haematoxylin and eosin staining was performed to observe the villus length (VL) and the area of PPs, and periodic acid-Schiff staining was used to examine the number of GCs. Results: There were no significant differences in the VL, GCs, PPs and the number of microbiota between the F group and the AL group with the respective p = 0.26 (369.54 ± 48.41 vs 307.16 ± 61.16) μm, p = 0.33 (10.42 ± 1.27 vs 9.15 ± 2.44), p = 0.8 (0.164 ± 0.069 vs 0.159 ± 0.089) mm2, and p = 0.64 (1.85 ± 0.97 vs 2.22 ± 1.43) CFU/ml. The current smoking cessation interventions mostly target smokers who are ready to quit and are reactive in recruitment. Recently, mobile phones have become a new tool for promoting smoking cessation. The aim of this paper is to present a study protocol on a quasi-experimental study investigating the effects of a workplace mHealth intervention for smoking behaviour. Methods: A quasi-experimental study will be conducted among employees in an academic institution in Malaysia. The intervention group will receive a theory based WhaSTOP module via WhatsApp and will be compared with the control group (receive usual care). The primary outcomes are stage movement and the number of cigarettes per day. The secondary outcomes include knowledge of smoking, quit attempt, nicotine dependence, 7-day point prevalence of smoking abstinence, and the Transtheoretical Model constructs. A generalised estimating equation analysis will be performed to determine the effects of the intervention. Discussion: This protocol will provide a novel method to proactively approach smokers regardless of readiness to quit and to guide them through the stages of change so that they will be ready to take action to quit. This research will also provide insight into whether the intervention can be utilised as an additional tool for smokers at the workplace to quit smoking. Roasting is a common processing method that can enhance millet palatability. However, it is important to ensure that the nutritional properties are well preserved. Hence, this study investigated the influence of roasting on the proximate composition, amino acid composition, total phenolic content (TPC) and antioxidant activity of the whole grain barnyard millet sample. Method: The roasted sample of whole grain barnyard millet was roasted in the oven at 110℃ for 10 minutes and used for proximate analysis and amino acid composition. Meanwhile, TPC and DPPH were performed using the ethanol extract of a roasted whole-grain barnyard millet sample. Results: This study found a significant (p<0.05) of 14.22% reduction in moisture content in roasted millet compared to non-roasted millet. The roasted millet sample showed a higher fat content (p<0.05) compared to the non-roasted millet sample, with values of 5.08±0.24% and 4.38±0.24%, respectively. The total amino acid content of the non-roasted sample was 116.76±11.31ng, while the roasted sample had a value of 123.51±0.23.22ng. In addition, the TPC and antioxidant activity were found significantly higher (p<0.05) in the roasted sample than in the non-roasted sample of whole grain barnyard millet. Conclusion: The roasting method should be considered in processing of the whole grain barnyard millet to enhance the nutrient composition and boost its functionality.","PeriodicalId":506570,"journal":{"name":"November 2023","volume":"42 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139278435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
