Creation of a 3D geomechanical model represents a key stage in studying the stress-and-strain state of rocks. The paper presents a theoretical overview of the rock stress-and-strain state calculation. The main objective of the research is to create a geomechanical numerical model aimed at describing the stress-and-strain state of rocks. Distribution of the stress tensor components for different directions of the forces applied and other boundary conditions was determined during the stress-and-strain modeling in order to determine the limits of their changes. Modeling of the stress-and-strain state in a 3D formulation was performed using the finite element method in the COMSOL Multiphysics software suite, which is a common approach among the researchers.","PeriodicalId":506182,"journal":{"name":"Mining Industry Journal (Gornay Promishlennost)","volume":"3 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140241309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Illustrations and detailed information are provided on the physical, geographical and geological features of the field site, the degree of its exploration, the geological structure, reserves, climatic, geocryological and mining conditions of the deposit, physical and mechanical properties of the overburden rocks and coals, a technological scheme of the mining operations at the strip mine. The key mining and geological indicators of the NorthWest section of the developed deposit are given; and the technical capacity of the proposed surface miner is defined. Estimated qualitative indicators of coal production are presented in the graphic form, including the losses, dilution and ash content at the bulk and selective mining of individual seams. It is emphasized that the highest rates of losses and dilution of the mined coal are observed when mining a seam with the most complex structure. The obtained results will allow to justify the optimal technological parameters to apply the continuous flow process technology based on application of the KSM-type surface miners when developing complex seams in different areas of the Elga deposit, which will ultimately increase the cost efficiency of the mining company. Based on the performed researches, a conclusion is made on the efficiency of using surface miners for development of the deposit.","PeriodicalId":506182,"journal":{"name":"Mining Industry Journal (Gornay Promishlennost)","volume":"5 18","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140237384","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main functions of the weight control system are described, as well as the requirements towards this system, the principle of applying the proposed algorithms and the results of implementing this system at an existing mining operation. The experience of measuring the rock mass during loading and hauling operations is described in terms of operational management and control of actual quantitative and qualitative parameters of ore flow in the multistage process of the ore grade stabilization in underground mining. The obtained results help to solve the challenge of controlling the LHD bucket load while ensuring the required parameters and operating conditions for the following application scenarios: (1) control of the transported rock mass for each haul cycle with the accuracy of ±6%; (2) control of the transported rock mass by a particular LHD per shift with the accuracy not worse than 1% for 60 haul cycles per shift; (3) for the operations with high moisture content of the transported load, it is possible to account for the stuck material for each haul cycle; (4) no special requirements to the weighing process; (5) minimization of the operating costs for calibration and maintenance; (6) high reliability due to minimum amount of hardware; (7) no degradation of the method when using readings of the hydraulic system; (8) unification of the system. The accuracy and reliability of the data obtained gradually increases during the operation when the test measurements are made about once a month. The disadvantages include: (1) impossibility to use the metrological level for measurements; (2) dependence on the technical condition of the onboard hydraulic system; (3) partial dependence on the LHD mileage. A conclusion is made that the process of ore grade stabilization should be multistage, and the measurement of the rock mass during the loading and hauling operations is one of the mandatory methods for implementation of the geometallurgical tasks.","PeriodicalId":506182,"journal":{"name":"Mining Industry Journal (Gornay Promishlennost)","volume":"7 23","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140239372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results of engineering-geological and hydrological studies of the tailing dump were used as the input data. The main research methods and approaches consisted in creating a hydrogeomechanical 3D model and finite element modeling of the geomechanical and hydraulic conditions. At the same time, the main emphasis was placed on the dynamic change in water filtration through the soils of the enclosing dam, which is realized in the results of calculations through step-by-step changes in the transverse filtration coefficient. The purpose of the study was to identify the features of filtration and deformation processes occurring in the tailings storage of the mining enterprise using their 3D modeling. A hydrogeomechanical model has been developed that reflects the geometry of the investigated facility, soil properties, geomechanical and hydraulic conditions. Based on the modeling results, model parametric values of soil movements of the enclosing dam and the volumes of filtered water from the tailings dump were determined. Dependence of parametric values of the indices on the coefficient of transverse filtration is established. The dynamics of changes in the total soil movements of the enclosing dam and the volume of water filtration from the tailing pond were traced. The obtained results serve as a scientific and technical basis for assessing the hydrogeomechanical state of the tailings storage by using established graphic and analytical dependencies, and thus have undoubted practical significance.","PeriodicalId":506182,"journal":{"name":"Mining Industry Journal (Gornay Promishlennost)","volume":"6 16","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140241197","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The difficulties in correlating the data on particle size distribution in the muck pile with the blast, the rock properties and the energy characteristics of explosives define the need to solve a wide range of scientific and practical tasks. Contemporary approaches to optimizing the particle size distribution (\"fragmentation\") are based on considering the energy efficiency of explosives and controlled distribution of the blast energy during the blast. At the current development stage of digital technologies in the mining industry, the qualitative and quantitative characteristics in assessing the particle size distribution are determined with the help of tools that estimate the size of the rock pieces by analyzing two- or three-dimensional images obtained by various technical means. The authors of the article present a study of the rock particle size distribution analysis based on digital technologies using a Russian innovative hardware and software suite developed by the DAVTECH Company. During a full-scale study the authors confirmed that the hardware and software suite ensures satisfactory results for a preliminary assessment of blasting operations due to faster sampling using a fully autonomous system, and it provides reliable information and allows visualizing and comparing the data of a large number of measurements. The studied hardware and software suite also secures improved safety by eliminating manual sampling directly at the muck pile, thus avoiding work in high-risk areas.","PeriodicalId":506182,"journal":{"name":"Mining Industry Journal (Gornay Promishlennost)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139157598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of digital solutions, as the experience of the main mining enterprises of the Kola region shows, can mitigate these challenges to a certain extent. The intensive introduction of digital technologies into the main business processes of mining production allows obtaining both direct and indirect economic effects. The direct effects include generation of additional profits, reducing costs and increasing labor productivity. The indirect ones can be of scientific, technical and social nature, as well as those concerned with improving the safety of mining operations. The objective of the study was to justify a scientific and technical approach to assessing the economic effects of digital solutions in the mining industry based on parametric and scenario modeling of the discounted cash flows. The result was to develop a graphical algorithm and disclose its step-by-step description for evaluating the economic effects of digital solutions for the mining industry in the Western part of Arctic. The use of digital solutions is estimated as an effective tool that meets the requirement to obtain positive direct and indirect economic effects. The proposed scientific and technical approach was tested using the case of one of the promising ore deposits in the Western part of Arctic.","PeriodicalId":506182,"journal":{"name":"Mining Industry Journal (Gornay Promishlennost)","volume":"46 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139159370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Studying the processes of formation and transformation of material flows allows us to clarify the design methodology of continuous haulage systems. The normative methodology of belt conveyors selection is based on treating the material flows as normally distributed random variables, with the point value, i.e. the irregularity coefficient, being used as the main indicator. There are doubts in methodological justification of such an approach. The normal law of distribution in the classical variant adequately describes a random variable changing within infinite limits, and real mine material flows via the conveyor lines are random variables with unilateral constraints. The majority of tasks on finding the design ranges of material flows can be solved using experimentally established distribution functions (or probability density functions) of random quantities of material flows. Based on the publications in recent years, as well as on our own experimental studies, it is proposed to describe material flows by piecewise linear probability density functions, in particular the triangular ones, and to summarize material flows on the basis of general theoretical provisions of classical probability theory. The paper solves a particular problem of finding an analytical solution of the sum of two random material flows defined by the triangular distribution laws and compares the results of numerical integration of the probability densities of the material flows.","PeriodicalId":506182,"journal":{"name":"Mining Industry Journal (Gornay Promishlennost)","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139159026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to predict the decrease in the productivity level of mining equipment in such conditions, it is necessary to study the process of cutting the frozen rocks by different types of cutting tools of the mining machines. The article analyzes the existing laboratory benches and experimental devices, as well as methods of work execution that were published in research and technical literature dedicated to investigating the process of cutting hard and frozen rocks by different types of cutting tools of mining equipment. Most studies of the cutting process are carried out on homogeneous samples mainly to justify rational parameters of the cutting tools, for which the authors develop laboratory models, since it is practically impossible to cover the entire range of changes in the physical and mechanical characteristics of frozen soils in field conditions. It is noted that the existing laboratory benches and experimental devices make it possible to study the force and energy indices of the cutting processes as well as the parameters of elementary chipping depending on the depth of the cutter impact on samples and in natural conditions. At the same time, the review has shown that in the scientific and technical literature there is practically no information on laboratory or field studies of the cutting process of re-frozen blasted mass of permafrost rocks.","PeriodicalId":506182,"journal":{"name":"Mining Industry Journal (Gornay Promishlennost)","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139158437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
