Based on the data of satellite observations of the monitoring sites during the vegetation period, the impact of relief as well as the heat and moisture availability on the state of the emerging vegetation cover was studied using gradient transects of different exposures along the height of the enclosing dam slope. The spatial resolution of the satellite images was harmonized using the enhanced pan-sharpening procedure with the minimum characteristic size of the dam slope elements and the representativeness of the data obtained when assessing the vegetation cover condition using the vegetation index and the moisture stress index was ensured. Generalization was made of the relationship between the parameters characterizing the vegetation cover state and abiotic factors of its formation using a neural network model. Two artificial neural networks were trained to predict the vegetation and the plant moisture stress indices using the data set obtained from processing of visible, infrared and thermal spectral channels of satellite images of the monitoring sites. The neural network model shows that the vegetation index of the emerging vegetation cover is antibate to the plant moisture stress index - the dominant factor in restoration of the environmental state of the investigated site, and to the surface temperature of the enclosing dam of the tailing dump. Dependence of the predicted moisture stress of the phytocenosis formed ontop the enclosing dam slope on the elevation and exposure was used to assess the potential of its restoration to the forest succession stage corresponding to the phytocenosis of the surrounding natural environment. Zoning of the tailing dump according to the potential for restoration of the environmental state was performed in order to support the decision-making process when planning environmental protection measures.","PeriodicalId":506182,"journal":{"name":"Mining Industry Journal (Gornay Promishlennost)","volume":"257 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139170804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The software module is based on both wireframe and pure block models, and takes into account a given development direction. The algorithm defines the mineable reserves of the deposit as a set of mining unit models. The module determines the expected levels of rational loss and dilution for each mining units of the bench, for each ore body, for the bench and for the open pit in general. The mining units also become the reference points for the design of blasting operations and the basis for the development of special measures to modify the parameters of the mining system locally. The obtained mineable reserves can be used in defining the pit boundaries and planning mining operations, and the contours of mining units will guide the design of the blast blocks. The algorithm can also be used to clarify the pit boundaries in the footwall of a sloping deposit and for economic comparison of the development options.","PeriodicalId":506182,"journal":{"name":"Mining Industry Journal (Gornay Promishlennost)","volume":"14 27","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139168948","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results of numerical modeling of the stress-and-strain state are presented for the rock mass in vicinities of one of the quarries in the Khibiny Apatite Arc. Calculations were made using elastic approach to a three-dimensional finite-element model which incorporates basic geological, mining engineering and geomechanical data. The impact of gravitational and tectonic stress field is demonstrated on the stability of the pit wall and benches during its development. Potentially unstable areas have been determined in the wall and benches of the open pit design contour. The identified features of the stress-and-strain state of the rock mass in vicinities of the pit wall make it possible to increase the justification level of technical solutions for the development of surface mining operations and to design preventive measures that would ensure the stability of structural elements of the open pit.","PeriodicalId":506182,"journal":{"name":"Mining Industry Journal (Gornay Promishlennost)","volume":"69 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139169302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The importance of classifying geodynamic processes is noted in terms of understanding the nature of seismic phenomena, identifying their sources, assessing the potential hazard as well as their impact on the environment and the infrastructure of underground structures. The paper describes an algorithm for analyzing seismic activity based on the data obtained as the result of recording seismic events using the hardware complex and the GITS2 seismic monitoring software in a coal mine. The paper briefly examines the key artificial intelligence methods used to control and predict hazardous geodynamic phenomena. Particular attention is paid to the development of a machine learning model based on decision trees that demonstrates high accuracy in classifying seismic events. The classification accuracy of the developed model is 98,39% on the training set and 98,41% on the test set. This result indicates the high generalization ability of the model on new data and the absence of overfitting. Testing the algorithm on new data entering the system also confirms the high accuracy in classification of seismic event types with the level of 83–93%. This highlights the efficiency of machine learning methods in mine seismic control. After its trial operation, the developed machine learning model will be implemented in the GITS2 monitoring system, that will allow classification of the incoming seismic events in automatic mode.","PeriodicalId":506182,"journal":{"name":"Mining Industry Journal (Gornay Promishlennost)","volume":"10 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139169599","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Control of the geomechanical state of the adjacent rock mass using local geophysical methods plays an important role in the overall monitoring of stability of the open-pit elements. The control allows studying in more detail the state of benches and groups of benches in critical areas of the open-pit and developing measures to ensure production safety on this basis. One of the main interdependent factors affecting the pit wall stability is, on the one hand, the size of the disturbed zone that depends on both natural and mining-induced rock fracturing; on the other hand, the level of ground water changing over time depending on the season. The importance of joint account of the factors above has stipulated to propose a comprehensive methodical approach to study water saturation and structural disturbance of rocks in the wall of a deep open-pit. The method consists in periodic, seasonally synchronized, geophysical studies using seismic profiling and GPR sounding and allows identifying the areas of high water saturation and disturbance in the adjacent rock mass. The methodological approach makes it possible to estimate the effect of the main time-varying impact factors (water saturation, natural and mining-induced disturbance, anomalies of physical properties of the rock mass) on the slope stability and provides a scientific and technical basis for developing engineering measures to improve the safety of deep open-pit mining.","PeriodicalId":506182,"journal":{"name":"Mining Industry Journal (Gornay Promishlennost)","volume":"47 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139171077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Along with a significant design depth (765 m for the Vostochny quarry, the Olympiadinsky ore mining and processing plant), mining is carried out within a rather narrow ring-shaped working area, which leads to high concentration of mining activities and makes it difficult to manage the operation of all types of equipment, including the process vehicles, for which the project justifies the slope angle of the pit roads to be up to 100‰, which would ensure the reduction of pit wall spreading and the decrease in the stripping volumes. The above features create specific conditions for road maintenance and require justification of measures to enhance these activities, which is one of the ways to reduce the cost of the rock mass haulage (with account of a comprehensive analysis of the current conditions and generalization of the experimental work results). Based on the results of measurements and observations of the road condition during the year, an analysis of the actual condition of the roads at the Olympiadinsky and Blagodatny ore mining and processing plants was carried out and measures to improve them were proposed. Based on the analysis of the specific features in formation and operation of the roads at the quarries of the Olympiadinsky and Blagodatny ore mining and processing plants, the article systematizes the recommendations on the in-pit road construction and maintenance. The article describes a methodology of optimizing the design (thickness) of the road topping. The economic effect of improving the condition of the in-pit roads in accordance with the increased haulage volumes has been determined.","PeriodicalId":506182,"journal":{"name":"Mining Industry Journal (Gornay Promishlennost)","volume":"42 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139273070","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method of formulating and verifying hypotheses on implicit relationships between the parameters of mining and related systems appears to be an efficient tool for targeted data collection from digital sources and their storage for use in predictive analytics. The second approach is creation of artificial intelligence systems to work with data that aim to identify deviations and adjust the operating parameters of the mining system based on retrospective analysis of the collected arrays of historical information, without having hypotheses formulated in advance when managing the mining system. In addition to hypotheses on the regularities and relationships between the mining system parameters, the article emphasizes the importance of forecasting and accounting for the extent of changes in the parameters of the related systems. The related systems mean such systems as the environment and society, which interact with the mining systems in time and space. Moreover, the functioning of the latter, due to the global scale of man-caused transformation of the lithosphere, results in inevitable changes in the state of the related systems. Only the big data technologies can make it possible to reveal implicit regularities in changes in the parameters of each adjacent system, including identification of rational indicators of the mining systems operation. The paper emphasizes the data collection based on the principle of capturing all changes of the information from the digital sources. The advantages of this technology and the VR devices have been considered in relation to the conventional way to visualize technological information of the SCADA systems on the screens. A SCADA prototype was developed based on a 3D interface displayed by means of a VR headset for operator to interact with the virtual objects. Scaled operating models of the mechanized roof support sections as part of the longwall system with servo-drives that ensure thrust and unloading of the section were used as technological equipment. The virtual control interface both reproduces the control objects and displays their response to the control inputs in an interactive mode. The paper presents a block diagram of the algorithm that features interaction between the interactive virtual objects and the physical models; a structural diagram of the software data exchange between the virtual reality and the physical objects, the front control panel on the operator's PC screen and the control interface from the virtual environment. The mineral resource base of non-ferrous metals in Russia is affected by the shortcomings of certain concentration processes that have a negative impact on the efficiency of commodity production. Human-generated wastes of non-ferrous metallurgy industries often form reserves that are comparable to the natural deposits of primary ores. In addition to the economic losses from incomplete metal recovery, dumping of mining waste creates environmental problems. Current Russian technologies fail to ensure waste-free concentration processes. Upgrading of the concentration processes is done through introduction of hydro-metallurgical treatment operations, which results in changes of the mineral properties that leads to better ore liberation and enhanced metal recovery. It is also possible to increase the metal recovery by boosting the activity of minerals through their treatment with surfactants. The efficiency of mechanochemical activation of the leaching processes has been discussed in the leading Russian and foreign scientific journals and magazines, and is being further developed in research activities on the subject. The technology performance is improved when traditional technologies are combined with new wastefree hydrometallurgical processes through introduction of disintegrator-type activators into the process flow.","PeriodicalId":506182,"journal":{"name":"Mining Industry Journal (Gornay Promishlennost)","volume":"46 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139273248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
