Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the biochemical and haematological indices in Plasmodium beighei infected wistar rats. Freshly harvested leaves of Sida cordifolia were washed and dried at room temperature, after which they were ground to fine powder and subsequently extracted. Twenty-five adult Wistar rats were divided into five groups of five rats each. Group I was the normal control and was administered 2 ml of distilled of water. Group II was infected without treatment, while Group III and IV were infected and afterwards administered 200 and 400 mg/kg of aqueous extract of Sida cordifolia respectively. Group V was administered the standard drug. Biochemical and haematological indices were determined using standard procedures. The Packed Cell Volume (PCV) reported for group II (negative) control was significantly (P<0.05) lower than that reported for the normal control. However, oral administration of 200 and 400 mg/kg of Sida cordifolia leaf extract significantly (P<0.05) increased it, though to a level which was significantly (P<0.05) lower than that reported for the normal control. Similar observation was made on Haemoglobin Concentration (Hb) and Red Blood Cell (RBC). However, a contrary observation was made on the white blood cell. Urea and creatinine reported for the negative control were significantly (P<0.05) higher than those reported for the normal control. However, the aforementioned parameters were significantly (P<0.05) reduced following oral administration of Sida cordifolia. In conclusion, it can be deduced from this study that Sida cordifolia leaf extract has the ability to restore distorted haematological and biochemical status resulting from P. berghei infection.

Their presence can have a more or less serious effect on the health of the consumer. The general objective of this work is to evaluate the diversity of filamentous fungi producing mycotoxins in peanut paste sold in public markets in the city of Daloa. A total of fifty samples were collected from five markets for carrying out the work. Isolation was carried out on Sabouraud medium with chloramphenicol. An identification of filamentous fungi was carried out through the analysis of macroscopic and microscopic morphological characters. Of the 50 samples, ten do not contain mold with a rate of 20% and 40 contain mold with a rate of 80%. Macroscopic analysis after enumeration made it possible to identify two species of mold. These are Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus. Microscopic examination made it possible to partially confirm its two species. The presence of these species with their mycotoxin production capacities suggests that contaminated peanut paste represents a risk to the health of consumers.

The object of examination vary from cells (normal or pathologic), microorganism (such as parasite and bacterium), and even non biological part. There are several types of microscope, one of the oldest forms and still used today is the light microscope. A light microscope relied on continuous light source to operate. The most common source for today's microscopes is an incandescent tungsten-halogen bulb, which is solely electric dependent, positioned in a reflective housing that projects light through the collector lens and into the sub-stage condenser. Current situations sometimes require readiness for conducting microscopic examination anytime, anywhere. Unfortunately, problem occur if the electricity goes out, most people will not be able to continue their microscopic observations. This problem raises the question of what if in an emergency it is necessary to carry out a microscopic examination but unfortunately there is no power source. Below we propose emergency modification efforts so that the microscope can still be used even in conditions without a power source. \u0000Aims: to modify an electric light microscope in such a way that it can continue to be used in the absence of an electrical power source using external source of light. \u0000Discussion: Adding an external source of light is a brilliant approach in order to make the electric dependent light microscope still useable in emergency condition. \u0000Conclusion: it is possible to modify an electric light microscope in the condition of no electric source available and make it operable.
