The study involved twelve players from the Turkish Deaf Men's Futsal National Team, and PlayerLoad (PL) metrics such as total PL (PLtotal), PL per minute (PL·min⁻¹), peak PL (PLpeak), PL bands (PLband1 to PLband4), and external load variables such as acceleration (ACC), deceleration (DEC), explosive efforts (EXPEFF), and right/left change of direction (COD-R, COD-L), were analyzed using inertial movement analysis (IMA). Additionally, the internal load metrics, including minimum, average, and maximum HR (HRmin, HRave, HRmax), percentage of HR (HR%) and percentage of time spent in different HR zones (HRzone1 to HRzone4) were continuously monitored. IMA variables and HR metrics, based on playing position, were analysed with the Kruskal-Wallis H test. Group comparisons were conducted using the Mann-Whitney U test, and a Bonferroni correction was applied. As a result, PL variables show varying patterns with notable distinctions between defenders and wingers. Additionally, the PLBAND4 stands out as the only significant difference when comparing wingers and strikers. Wingers generally exhibit different external load patterns, including ACC and COD-L, compared to defenders. Additionally, differences were observed in COD-L between strikers and defenders, as well as in COD-R between strikers and wingers. In conclusion, external and internal load metrics during the simulated game vary depending on the players’ positions in hearing-impaired futsal players, highlighting the importance for coaches to consider this diversity in their athlete monitoring approaches.","PeriodicalId":505764,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Disabilities Sports & Health Sciences","volume":"7 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141016836","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recovery can be made faster and more effective by post-exercise modulation of the autonomic nervous system. Stimulation of the auricular vagus nerve may increase parasympathetic activity and therefore benefit healing. The aim of our study is to find out whether the return rate of parasympathetic activity (PA) can be accelerated with auricular transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (TVNS). \u0000 Pulmonary function test, ANS activity, pulse and blood pressure measurements were made. Individuals ran for 15 minutes. Those in the TVNS group received 5 minutes of auricular VNS. In the control group, headphones were attached but no current was given. After the end of their procedures, they were compared with pre-exercise. The pulse parameter increased in the TVNS group compared to the first measurement (p=0.001). An increase in the FEV1 value was found in the VNS group (p= 0.007). There was no significant difference in the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) Index between the groups, and the SNS Index value increased in both groups compared to the first measurement (p0.05), but an increase was observed in the TVNS group compared to the first measurement (p0.05).TVNS can improve respiratory parameters in healthy individuals in the acute period after exercise, and it seems that it can also increase activation in both the sympathetic and parasympathetic system. It can be stated that TVNS may lead to variable results in different circumstances in sports.","PeriodicalId":505764,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Disabilities Sports & Health Sciences","volume":"13 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141020002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Joint alignment is the main bio-mechanical risk factor for progression of knee osteoarthritis. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of spinal and lower limb realignment protocol on bilateral medial compartment knee osteoarthritis in postmenopausal women and to compare it with the conventional method of treatment for osteoarthritis of knee.Method: A study sample of 98 post-menopausal subjects having bilateral knee osteoarthritis with medial compartment involvement were selected and equally divided into two groups as the control group and the experimental group. Assessment of pain, knee range of motion, quadriceps and hip abductor strength, and posture for spinal and lower limb malalignment was taken before and after giving the treatment regime to both the groups. Comparison was carried out between the results of the two groups. Results:The results showed how significantly the mal-aligned structures were re-aligned after giving 8 weeks of realignment protocol and how significantly this resulted in better reduction of pain intensity and improvement in knee range of motion and strength of quadriceps and hip abductor muscles in experimental group as compared to the control group. Conclusion:Re-aligning the spinal and lower limb malalignment present in postmenopausal women with bilateral medial compartment knee osteoarthritis results in pain reduction associated with knee joint and improved knee range of motion and strength of quadriceps and hip abductor muscles in these individuals as compared to the ones receiving conventional physiotherapy.","PeriodicalId":505764,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Disabilities Sports & Health Sciences","volume":"38 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141021612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With this application, it makes it easier for people to order motorbike taxis more practically. Many online motorcycle taxi drivers have complaints while working, one of which is the obligation to meet life's necessities which causes the physical and mental workload to increase. This study aims to measure the physical and mental workload of online motorcycle taxi drivers in Serang City. Data collection was carried out by measuring heart rate with a Polar H10 and filling out the NASA-TLX questionnaire which was distributed to online motorcycle taxi drivers who were willing to be respondents. Data processing starts from measuring heart rate, with an average %CVL value obtained of 40.08%. This value is included in the physical workload category that requires improvement. For mental workload data on online motorcycle taxi drivers, the average obtained from calculations using the NASA-TLX method is in the high category, namely 74.20. The suggestions given to reduce these two workloads are calculating work break times with a duration of 90 minutes, designing extra footsteps for automatic motorbikes, using sprayable energy, facilitating road congestion detection tools, improving the quality of online motorcycle taxi applications, and reducing heat stress exposure.","PeriodicalId":505764,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Disabilities Sports & Health Sciences","volume":"14 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141021244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to lower levels of education and their inherent limitations, persons with disabilities usually have fewer job opportunities, or find it harder to get ahead at work and are more likely to lose their jobs. They need to be made more employable through a wide range of programmes and training and their employers need to be made aware of the possibilities for workplace adjustments. Slovenian legislation makes this possible. However, persons who are not granted a disability status do not have any disability rights. The aim of this scientific article is to present the disability status of persons diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (G35, hereinafter MS), which they acquire under the various relevant legislation. The objectives of the research are to examine the existing Slovenian legislation in the field of disability and rights, the protection of persons with disabilities and the recognition of disability for persons diagnosed with MS. We examined the existing legislation and conducted a survey with 85 adult persons diagnosed with MS and who are members of the MS Association of Slovenia. The survey shows that persons with the same or similar disabilities do not have the same rights, but that these rights depend on the legal basis on which they have acquired the status of a person with disabilities. Those who acquire the status of a person with disabilities on the basis of the Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities Act (ZZRZI) are not entitled to disability benefits. The fragmentation of the relevant legislation should be consolidated into a single statute on the recognition of dis-ability and a single register of persons with MS should be established. Our survey shows that 85% of respondents have a recognised disability status. The figures show that 14% are full-time em-ployees, 21.2% are part-time employees, 9.4% are jobseekers and are registered with the Em-ployment Service of Slovenia (ZRSZ), 1.2% are students. There has been no previous research in the field of employment and work of persons with MS in Slovenia. Future research would be needed to monitor the impact of employment on changes in the health status of persons with MS, the extent of sickness absence, restrictions or adjustments in the workplace (e.g., shorter working hours), employment opportunities, and suitable workplaces and environments for these persons.","PeriodicalId":505764,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Disabilities Sports & Health Sciences","volume":"14 32","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141020269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
