These advantages include the quietness, the friendly usage, low pollution emission and low maintenance cost. On the other hand, and as electric vehicles are still machine, the EVs have several components that can be faulty and affect the vehicle performance and maybe in some stages lead to severe failures or life threatening. These components are mainly the battery, electric motor and controllers. So, many studies focused on studying the electric vehicles components fault detection in the early stages. This paper will focus on one of the most common motor types, the permanent magnet synchronous motors. One of the common PMSM faults related to the rotor is the demagnetization. This fault will be extensively studied using two of the signal analysis method techniques: the output torque and the stator current signal analysis. Using the MATLAB Simulink, a complete model of the PMSM will be built and the uniform demagnetization fault will be introduced. Then, a comparison between both torque and current signatures will be presented to put our hands on the ability of these techniques to identify the uniform demagnetization fault.","PeriodicalId":505017,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal","volume":"43 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141408891","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Value Engineering (VE) and Building Information Modelling (BIM) are used as strategies to cope with large-scale and complex construction projects. VE involves a multidisciplinary team in a systematic workshop focused on improving the project function. VE is applied during the pre-construction phase where benefits can be maximized. The implementation of VE can be more effective with utilizing BIM, especially in providing accurate and adequate information. This paper explores the integration of Value Engineering (VE) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. This study proposes a framework that aims to systematically implement VE in construction projects by leveraging BIM and Common Data Environment (CDE) technologies. This framework consists of four main modules: (1) Upload project data into CDE, (2) 3D Design BIM model development, (3) Value Analysis / Engineering model, (4) Detailed Value Engineering Study. The integration aims to improve project outcomes, reduce costs, and facilitate better collaboration and communication among stakeholders. The benefits of the use of this structured approach include automating tasks such as quantity takeoff and cost estimating, utilizing 3D models for visualization, develop structured database which could manage, store, search, and share the past VE ideas among team members and applying the VE at the pre-construction phase, to avoid potential major redesigns, and more opportunities for improvement can be implemented.","PeriodicalId":505017,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal","volume":"273 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141413017","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can prevent premature death and a number of diseases, e.g. cardiovascular diseases and type II diabetes. Physical activity also boosts our mental health and the sense of well-being. Parks can be an important, low-cost neighborhood resource to increase physical activity , reduce overweight and obesity, provide psychological, social, and physical health benefits for users, and can facilitate community building. Literature indicates two main factors for the shift of people towards sedentary lifestyle: The personal factors related mainly to gender, race, age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and religion and need a behavioural change and factors arising from the urban design of neighbourhoods/communities and cities [1]–[3]. All in all, beautiful, exciting and safe environments encourage movement, and hence, the design of the urban environment is essential for citizen‘s level of physical activity. A growing part of the population choose to live in the city, and thus, city planning plays an increasingly important role for general public health . Communities may consider increasing park maintenance and addressing attractiveness in existing parks as a relatively low-cost environmental strategy to encourage park use, increase physical activity, and reduce the burden of obesity, especially among people in low-income communities.","PeriodicalId":505017,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal","volume":"19 47","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141393732","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The utilization of available space is crucial for improving the environment and promoting social equality as we strive to create more resilient and healthy residential areas. Streets in informal housing areas have a significant impact on public life, extending beyond just the flow of vehicles. Streets constitute a substantial part of the communal open space accessible to the community. Streetscape can greatly enhance streets in informal areas and have a significant impact on their development. Streetscape can encourage people to use outdoor spaces and increase their enjoyment, in addition to creating a welcoming, relaxed, and involved atmosphere for them. On the other hand, Egypt has the opportunity to utilize waste materials and create a recycling system due to the large quantity of waste available. Reusing waste materials helps to decrease pollution and improve the quality of the environment, preventing waste from ending up in landfills, as well as providing significant financial benefits. There is a mass of reclaimed materials being utilized in the creation of streetscape elements, such as wood, steel, plastic and rubber. This study explores the potential that would make the streetscape of informal housing areas more friendly to the environment by using recycled materials. A thorough study of the behavior of pipes and soil is essential in the design of buried pipes. The study goal is to forecast the performance of buried HDPE and fiberglass pipes at different thicknesses of sand backfill. A tank-shaped laboratory model of a trench and top static stress is built. PLAXIS-2D finite element software was employed to validate the experimental test values. A parametric study is performed to investigate the potential impacts of the ground loads, the loading area length, the pipeline's buried depth, and the pipeline's type and wall thickness on the model response. From the results, it can be concluded that pipes buried at shallower depths are subjected to significantly greater stresses and damage ratio. The physical and numerical modeling results agree with each other. It is also observed that if the parameters are well selected for physical and numerical analysis, it can be an easy and less time-consuming method for finding out strength and deformation behavior for analyzing and designing the buried pipes. Generally, the pipes with greater wall thickness and depth are safer within a reasonable range. Therefore, it can be concluded that this methodology can be used for the safe and economical design of buried pipes subjected to static loading conditions","PeriodicalId":505017,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Research Journal","volume":"9 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140406596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three square composite columns are included in the experimental test program under axial compression, and the primary variables are the longitudinal reinforcement ratio and steel angle thickness. Investigations are conducted into the axial and horizontal deformations, load capacity, failure mode, and axial and lateral strains of composite columns. In order to review the impact of the slenderness ratio on the behavior of composite columns for parametric study, more numerical models are utilized. The results indicate that there are two primary phases to the failure process. Localized buckling in the longitudinal reinforcement occurs in the second stage, after the concrete cover has been crushed or spalled in the first stage. The impact of steel angle thickness according to experimental results: axial strain, lateral strain, horizontal displacement, and axial displacement decrease with increasing steel angle thickness. The percentage of decrease for axial displacement is between 11% and 20%; for horizontal displacement, it is between 16% and 20%; for axial strain, it is between 4% and 10%; and for lateral strain, it is between 13% and 22%.
