{"title":"Shale gas deposit model and preliminary resources estimation based on mud logging data on gas content variation","authors":"M. Nieć","doi":"10.24425/gsm.2019.128541","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24425/gsm.2019.128541","url":null,"abstract":"The occurrence of gas confined in shales allows us to consider it as a component of the host rock. During drilling wells, the gas is released into the drilling fluid from finely ground gas-bearing rock particles. The amount of gas released can be determined on the basis of mud-gas logging; in addition, it is possible to determine the gas-content in shales expressed by the volume of gas released per mass unit of rock [m3/ton]. The gas content in the Ordovician and Silurian shales (Sasin formation and Jantar member respectively) in two selected wells in northern Poland was determined using this method. It has been found that clearly distinguishable, highly gas-bearing sections, which are separated by very poorly gas-bearing ones, can be determined in the well log. The increased gas content in shales can be observed in zones generally enriched in TOC. No direct correlation between TOC and gas-bearing capacity was found however, but the structure of TOC variability and the gas-bearing capacity 45 Musiał et all 2019 / Gospodarka Surowcami Mineralnymi – Mineral Resources Management 35(4), 27–46 described using variograms is identical. Correlations of the distinguished gas-bearing layers in the wells under consideration suggest a multi-lens or multi-layered reservoir model. The lack of natural boundaries in the shale gas reservoir means that they must be determined arbitrarily based on the assumed marginal gas-bearing capacity. In the case of several gas-bearing zones, numerous variants of interpretation are possible. In any case the low, best and high estimated resources may be evaluated, assigned to each borehole in the area with radii equal to the range of variogram of gas content in horizontal part of the well. Taką metodą określona została gazonośność łupków ordowiku i syluru (odpowiednio formacji z Sasina i ogniwa Jantaru) w dwóch otworach w północnej Polsce. Stwierdzono, że: w profilu otworów wyznaczyć można wyraźnie wyróżniające się odcinki silnie gazonośne, które przedzielane są bardzo słabo gazonośnymi. Podwyższona gazonośność łupków ma miejsce w strefach ogólnie wzbogaconych w TOC. Nie stwierdzono bezpośredniej korelacji TOC i gazonośności, ale struktura zmienności TOC i gazonośności opisana za pomocą ich wariogramów jest identyczna. The model was trained and the identifi - cation and positioning results of the model were tested under different sizes, illumination intensities and various working conditions, and compared with other algorithms. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can detect the coal gangue quickly and accurately, with an mAP of 99.08%, a speed of 139 fps and a memory occupation of only 9.2 M. In addition, the algorithm can effectively detect mutually stacking coal and gangue of different quantities and sizes under different lights with high confidence and with a certain degree of environmental robustness and practicability. Compared with the YOLOv3, the performance of the proposed algorithm is significantly improved. Under the premise that the accuracy is unchanged, the fPS increases by 127.9% and the memory decreases by 96.2%. {"title":"The import of energy raw materials and the energy security of the European Union – the case of Poland","authors":"A. Rybak, A. Rybak","doi":"10.24425/gsm.2022.143630","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24425/gsm.2022.143630","url":null,"abstract":"This article presents research on the structure of energy mixes and the dependence on imports of the eU-27 member states, with a particular emphasis on Poland. During the conducted research, a spatial information system was used. GIS tools made it possible to build layers presenting information based on the countries’ energy mix, the level of dependence on the import of this fuel, and the share of the Russian Federation in fuel imports. It was also examined whether the level of dependence on imports from Russia was dependent on the geographical location. Since it has been shown that the share of Russian fuel is significant in the energy mixes of many member states, and that security does not depend solely on import dependence, an energy security assessment measure has been created (SeS). As the level of security consists of many factors, assessing each of them separately is very difficult and unclear. Therefore, in order to simplify this analysis, it was necessary to determine one indicator that would take into account all the factors influencing the level of energy security. Poland is privileged in terms of access to fossil fuels due to its rich coal deposits; however, the potential of this fuel is not used, which is also indicated by the level of the SeS measure. In the case of Poland, SeS amounts to less than 16% and is almost three times lower than the eU-27 average. The indicator made it possible to indicate not only those factors that positively affect the level of energy security but also those that adversely affect it. W prowadzonych badaniach wykorzystano system informacji przestrzennej. Narzędzia GIS umożliwiły zbudowanie warstw prezentujących informacje o podstawowym składniku miksu energetycznego krajów, stopnia uzależnienia od importu tego paliwa oraz udziału Federacji Rosyjskiej w imporcie paliw. Zbadano również, czy stopień uzależnienia od importu z Rosji jest zależny od położenia geograficznego.
