The forecasting is made solely from the knowledge of soil properties and loading parameters. Our approach combines mathematical modeling, regression analysis, and Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) to overcome the limitations of traditional DNN training. As a novelty, we propose a hysteresis loop evolution equation and design a family of DNNs to determine the parameters of this equation. Knowing the nature of the phenomenon, we can impose certain solution types and narrow the range of values, enabling the use of a very simple and efficient DNN model. The experimental data used to develop and test the model was obtained through Torsional Shear (TS) tests on soil samples. The model demonstrated high accuracy, with an average R² value of 0.9788 for testing and 0.9944 for training.","PeriodicalId":503238,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering Reports","volume":"121 41","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141822051","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this standard, to ensure the stability of both the concrete production process itself and its individual stages, appropriate requirements have been formulated. Some of these requirements pertain to the on line stage of the production process, and some to the off-line stage. Some of these requirements, if not properly controlled, can disrupt the stability of the production process and also negatively impact the quality and durability of concrete structures. The article analyzes the significance of these standard requirements. For this purpose, the AHP method was used, and the Pareto principle was applied to interpret the results. The AHP analysis showed that three out of seven requirements have the most significant impact on the quality of concrete and concrete structures. These are: the constituents of concrete, the limitations for concrete composition, and the delivery of fresh concrete. The applied Pareto principle confirmed their dominant role. These three criteria account for almost 80% of the importance in ensuring the quality of concrete.","PeriodicalId":503238,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering Reports","volume":"32 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140248237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The key problem in such technological solutions is to provide a reliable navigation system, which is typically based on high-definition (HD) maps supporting the identification of the position of a maneuvering vehicle. HD maps should include possibly up-to-date and detailed information on traffic lanes and on the traffic rules and regulations on such lanes. An effective development of an HD map should be based on the geodetic measurement methods, which ensure efficient and accurate acquisition of spatial data. This article presents the results of an experiment consisting in the manipulation of data obtained with the use of the mobile laser scanning method and further in employing this data in the development of an HD map in an open-source environment. The applied measurement technology and the processing method allowed data of high resolution (frequently above 1000 points per m2) and of high accuracy (3D accuracy down to less than 5 cm). The obtained data were processed in the Vector Map Builder environment (which is accessible from the level of an internet browser) and the final product - HD map was created in the Lanelet2 open-source environment. The above-described experiments allowed two main conclusions. Most importantly, they demonstrate the importance of planning and performing in-field mobile laser scanning measurements. They also point to the important role of the human analyst who needs to manually vectorize the key elements of road infrastructure and to define traffic rules.","PeriodicalId":503238,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering Reports","volume":"24 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140258119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we considered disposable tannery sludge as a matter of concern and proposed an innovative framework for placing tannery sludge in the economic value chain via an encapsulation technique-based construction product development. We used polypropylene plastic and a cement-water matrix as encapsulation materials, and the encapsulated tannery sludge bodies were tested for their drop strength, water absorbing behaviour, ability to leach chromium and tendency to lose weight upon ignition. Value of water absorption for the prepared double layered encapsulated tannery sludge bodies was 1.332%, the drop strength performance index arrived was 90% and 0.0001 µg/g of Chromium leaching was found in Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) and shown 67% weight loss in thermogravimetric (TGA) analysis. The results confirmed the possibility of ecocompatible disposal and recirculation of tannery sludge for the sustainable production of building blocks in the form of encapsulated bodies. The outcomes of our work add upon a new perspective to the existing literature regarding the environmentally positive utilization of tannery sludge in the production of building blocks.","PeriodicalId":503238,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering Reports","volume":"122 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140257205","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on research focused on young people, and conducted in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, physical activity positively affects mental comfort and is one of the social preventive measures for maintaining mental comfort. Thus, designing spaces dedicated to young people has become a common social interest. The purpose of the article was to identify criteria for locating recreational and leisure centers for young people. For the purposes of the study, a detailed literature review was conducted, following which the most relevant locational features were listed, defining criteria for evaluating their location. In addition, a keyword co-occurrence network was developed using VOSviewer software. The research was conducted on the basis of the Scopus database. The presented review highlighted the lack of comprehensive studies on the analysis of the location of youth recreation and leisure centers, which is definitely a gap that needs to be filled. Taking such a study into consideration when conducting planning work would certainly be a valuable effort to help creating a friendly urban infrastructure and an effective network of services.","PeriodicalId":503238,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering Reports","volume":"44 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140257493","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both the character of the structure and the nature of the soil have an impact on the stresses that exist between them, which in turn affects how the structure and soil beneath it move. The issue is crucial, particularly in earthquake regions. The interaction between soil and structure is an extremely intriguing factor in increasing or reducing structural damage or movement. Structures sitting on deformable soil as opposed to strong soil will experience an increase in static settlement and a decrease in seismic harm. The engineer must take into account that the soil liquefaction problem occurs for soft ground in seismic areas. A reinforced concrete wall-frame dual framework's dynamic reaction to SSI has not been sufficiently studied and is infrequently taken into consideration in engineering practice. The structures’ seismic performance when SSI effects are taken into account is still unknown, and there are still some misconceptions about the SSI idea, especially regarding RC wall-frame dual systems. The simulation study of the soil beneath the foundations significantly impacts the framework's frequency response and dynamic properties. Therefore, the overall significance of SSI in the structural aspect and sustainability aspects will be reviewed in this research.","PeriodicalId":503238,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering Reports","volume":"2 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140092669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Papers should be written in English. Manuscripts s Landfilling is the most common and cheapest method of waste management practice in India. Municipal Solid Waste Landfills (MSWL) became a nuisance affecting the health, hygiene, sanitation and aesthetics of the surrounding area. Aggregates occupy almost 70% of concrete, so replacing waste materials with them could be a rewarding choice. In the current work, an experimental investigation is being carried out to test the addition of MSWL as a substitution with fine aggregate for concrete production. Out of the different aged samples available at the dumpsite, the most aged sample is chosen for experimental investigations according to the basic physical properties. Concrete mixes, with 0%, 4%, 5%, 7% and 10% partial replacement of fine aggregate with MSWL are tested for mechanical properties such as compressive strength, split tensile strength, flexural strength, and non-destructive test and have proved to be a partial substitute for fine aggregate. Durability studies such as water absorption, acid attack and sulphate attack also gave better experimental proof for the sustainable reuse of this waste material. The research reveals 5% replacement is the optimum considering all the test result values. The paper leads to advanced research for the suitability of the material in the construction industry.","PeriodicalId":503238,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering Reports","volume":"121 46","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140089309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Operating in an ever-changing reality, local government units should plan for the necessary sustainable local government investments, with particular attention to structural gaps and financial mismatches. Local government is responsible for ensuring local energy security and thus for 'environmental sustainability'. The overall objective of this study is to assess the effectiveness of financing low-emission lowering measures from the Environmental Protection and Water Management Fund in municipalities in Lubusz Province in 2020. The article uses cause-effect relationship analysis (regression models). Investments implemented by local governments generally have a positive impact on the reduction of low emissions, although the results of the study indicate a negative impact of financing investments in alternative energy sources (RES). This may be related to large investment outlays, as well as difficulties in spatial planning, environmental impact and administrative inefficiency.","PeriodicalId":503238,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering Reports","volume":"109 17","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140088802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
