Sediment-hosted Li deposits in bauxite formations and coal-bearing strata are mainly distributed in the southwestern Yangtze block and the North China block in China. This type of Li-clay deposit is famous for its large reserve, stable strata and wide distribution. Hence, studying this type of Li-clay deposits is of great significance to solve the lithium resource dilemma of China in the future. In this paper, we have summarized the distribution of this type of Li-clay deposits in bauxite formations and coal-bearing strata in China, and have sorted out research progresses on the Li occurrence state, material source, and development and utilization status of the Li-clay deposits. The Li enrichment process is mainly related to the weathering-sedimentation and volcanic magmatism processes, and the lithium was mainly sourced from the Li-rich basement rocks including volcanic tuff, early formed magmatic rock, clay rock and other rocks. Lithium mainly occurred in forms of lithium independent minerals (cookeite), and isomorphic replacement/adsorption in/on clay","PeriodicalId":502214,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry","volume":"104 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139636578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the marine environment, Hg is easily converted to the neurotoxin methyl-Hg which bioaccumulates and biomagnifies through the food web, posing risks to ecosystems and human health. Accurately constraining the source, migration, and transformation of marine Hg is crucial for understanding the Hg cycle and has significant value in updating existing marine Hg cycling models and formulating relevant environmental policies. Over the past decade, the development of Hg stable isotope techniques has provided novel insights into the study of Hg cycling in the environment, as well as the related ecological effects. The unique “three-dimensional” fractionation pattern of Hg isotopes, especially the mass independent fractionation (MIF) has brought about a paradigm shift to the study of marine Hg cycling and achieved a series of important discoveries. In this study, we systematically review the recent progress of Hg isotope system in tracing marine Hg cycling, including the sources of Hg in oceans and the generation, transport and transformation of methyl-Hg. Specifically, we provide a key analysis and outlook on recent research hotspots, such as the atmospheric depositional pathways and the cycling of methyl-Hg in open oceans. We recommend that the future research should combine more sophisticated Hg isotope measurement tools and more environmentally relevant Hg isotope fractionation control experiments to further clarify the main controlling factors of marine Hg isotope fractionation and expand the application of Hg isotopes.","PeriodicalId":502214,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139640325","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results show that the outlet temperature of underground hot water in Da Qaidam is 52~74°C, and the total dissolved solids (TDS) content is 959.8~1451.3 mg/L. The hydrochemical types of the groundwater are all the Cl-Na type, and according to the ion correlation and 87 Sr/ 86 Sr value, the main solutes of groundwater in the area originate from the dissolution of evaporites and silicate minerals. Stable isotopes of hydrogen and oxygen show that atmospheric precipitation is the main source of groundwater recharge and part of the groundwater is recharged by magma water, and the estimated recharge elevation is 3591~4374 m.
