Ulceration occurs on nonglandular (squamous) and glandular gastric mucosa, with an average prevalence of 5% in pasture horses, 93% in racehorses and between 25% and 57% in foals. The incriminated causes are diet and incorrect feeding, stress and the administration of anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Medication for gastric ulcers includes proton pump inhibitors, histamine (H2) receptor antagonists, prostaglandin analogs, and sucralfate.","PeriodicalId":500866,"journal":{"name":"Practica veterinara.ro","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135131901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can present as a primary or secondary, single or multiple lesion. Commonly, it affects the cervical segment in large dogs and the thoracolumbar segment in small dogs. The clinical picture is dominated by progressive proprioceptive ataxia with varying degrees of tetraparesis or paraparesis. The diagnosis of the lesion involves the use of myelography or CT-myelography to identify and locate the intradural arachnoid diverticulum. However, the gold standard method is represented by the MRI exam that determines the degree of damage to the spinal cord, as well as the identification of associated conditions.","PeriodicalId":500866,"journal":{"name":"Practica veterinara.ro","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135131902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main difference between those two situations is the heterogenicity of lymphocyte populations as a result of diverse antigenic stimulation for the first situation, compared to single and identical population (clones) for the second situation. The present paper describes one of the many genetic assays capable of discriminating between normal and malignant, characterized by low time-to-result interval, accuracy, simplicity, and low cost comparing to other tests.","PeriodicalId":500866,"journal":{"name":"Practica veterinara.ro","volume":"67 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135131903","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They belong to the family Camelidae of the order Artiodactyla (ungulates). They are separated from other ruminants in the infraorder Tylopoda (footed) because they differ in gastric morphology (three compartments), with the absence of antlers or horns, and replacement of hooves with callous pads ending in claws (Novoa and Wheeler, 1984). Camellias are tall, robust and the largest of the four camelid species. They are used to transport goods in Central and South America, where their meat is also used. The leather is used for shoes, sandals and bags. Their wool fiber is long and coarse, varying in color from white to black, and is used to make various clothing items. In our country, and in Europe in general, llamas and alpacas are used for leisure purposes and even as pets, in some cases their wool being used to create clothing products.","PeriodicalId":500866,"journal":{"name":"Practica veterinara.ro","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135131893","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The etiopathogenesis of the pathology of paralytic urinary retention, with clinical-pathogenetic consequences that are difficult to identify and remedy therapeutically, mainly recognizes different causes, both neurogenic and traumatic. The traumatic ones are the most common and, depending on the location of the neurological injury, they influence the treatment, the evolution and also the prognosis. The present paper attempts to describe the importance of imaging examinations (both ultrasound and radiographic) in the judicious approach to patients with paralytic urinary retention.","PeriodicalId":500866,"journal":{"name":"Practica veterinara.ro","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135131890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The presence of five or six teats is not normal in a cow or goat, but it is not unusual. Which of these are extra? It is usually very obvious; sometimes it is helpful to look at the placement, size and sphincter development of all teats to identify normal versus extra. Most additional nipples in goats are \"blind\"and are not attached to the mammary tissue. An extra nipple is not able to produce milk. Blind teats are often found in pairs. It is not uncommon in cattle or goats to find a pair of \"button-like\" protrusions on the hindquarters or a few less developed hanging teats next to the functional ones. Causing little more than an unsightly rear udder image, blind teats in a commercial cattle or goat herd are usually not a problem.","PeriodicalId":500866,"journal":{"name":"Practica veterinara.ro","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135131904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is defined as a decreasing in the number of red blood cells (erythrocytes), the hematocrit and the hemoglobin concentration, respectively. The physiopathological and, respectively, the clinical consequences are directly corelated with the severity of the anemia and the responsible mechanism, expressed by pallor of the mucous membranes, weakness, tachycardia and/or tachypnea and, indirectly, by the reduction of productive and reproductive indices. Nutritional/deficiency anemias are widespread in intensive breeding, with economic repercussions not to be neglected, and the knowledge and application of curative-prophylactic principles at the ages of maximum vulnerability considerably reduce the incidence and the unfavorable economic impact.","PeriodicalId":500866,"journal":{"name":"Practica veterinara.ro","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135131896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cardiomyopathy is defined as a primary disease of the myocardium. Most animal cardiomyopathies are idiopathic diseases that are not the result of systemic heart disease or other primary heart disease. The cause has been identified in some cases as a genetic mutation and in others as an inherited trait. In animals (mainly dogs and cats), cardiomyopathies are classified as dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy and restrictive cardiomyopathy. The present study addresses, comparatively, the topic of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in dogs and cats.","PeriodicalId":500866,"journal":{"name":"Practica veterinara.ro","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135131898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
