Homosexuals are a minority whose existence, both from a religious and social perspective, is undesirable, so they often receive various forms of rejection in the social, educational or work environment. , the ban on the existence of homosexuals gave rise to a community called homophobia. The emergence of homophobia as a form of society's rejection of the existence of homosexuals is increasingly common in society. People who have sexual deviance problems are very vulnerable to mental health problems such as anxiety, low self-esteem, unhappiness, problems with sexual satisfaction, use of illegal drugs, depression, and even suicide attempts, in contrast to people who have heterosexual orientation who do not have mental problems related to their sexual orientation. Sexual orientation problems experienced by a person are related to personality. This research aims to determine the differences in the big five personality dimensions based on sexual orientation. The subjects of this research are people who have heterosexual and homosexual sexual orientations, where homosexuals are divided into two groups, namely gays and waria. The number of subjects in this study was 30 heterosexual people, 30 gay people and 30 transgender people. The instrument used for data collection is the big five scale. Data were analyzed using the ANOVA analysis technique. The results of this study show that there are no differences in the big five personality dimensions (neuroticism, extraversion, agreeableness, open to experience and conscientiousness) based on sexual orientation (gay, transgender and heterosexual).","PeriodicalId":500586,"journal":{"name":"Psyche 165 journal","volume":"9 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138585419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is characterized by a variety of reactions, including physical, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral responses. The aim of this research is to empirically test the extent to which resilience contributes to academic stress among health students taking online learning at \"X\" University in the Bangka Belitung Islands during the New Normal period. The method used in this research is a quantitative approach with simple linear regression analysis. The sample for this study consisted of 143 health students at \"X\" University in the Bangka Belitung Islands, selected using cluster random sampling. Data was collected using a scale that measures the level of academic stress and the level of student resilience. The research results show that resilience plays a negative role in students' academic stress during online learning in the new normal period. The higher the level of resilience a student has, the lower their academic stress will be. Resilience accounts for 45.2% of the variance in academic stress, while the remaining 54.8% is influenced by other variables. These findings have important implications, showing that students need to enhance their resilience in order to reduce academic stress levels. In the context of online learning during the New Normal period, resilience can be a factor that helps students successfully cope with the academic pressure they face. Further research and holistic approaches to student well-being should also be considered to support increased resilience and reduced academic stress.","PeriodicalId":500586,"journal":{"name":"Psyche 165 journal","volume":"17 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138605841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Every student should possess self-regulated learning skills in order to achieve high academic performance. Various factors influence a student's self-regulated learning during their educational journey. According to social cognitive theory, these factors are the result of the reciprocal interaction between individual characteristics, behavior, and the environment. This research primarily focuses on environmental factors, namely parental support and peer support. Both parental support and peer support play a role in shaping self-regulated learning. The research aims to empirically examine the contribution of parental support and peer support to self-regulated learning. The research employs a quantitative methodology and takes the form of an ex post facto study. The study population consists of 385 students in the 11 grade from SLTA A and B in Yogyakarta. A random sample of 77 students was chosen independently. Data were collected using instruments, including a self-regulated learning scale, a parental support scale, and a peer support scale. The empirical results of the study reveal that both parental support and peer support significantly contribute to self-regulated learning, with an F value of 36.703 and p-value of 0.000 (p<0.01). When examined separately, parental support significantly and positively contributes to self-regulated learning, with a t-value of 2.032 and a p-value of 0.046 (p<0.05). Peer support also significantly and positively contributes to self-regulated learning, with a t-value of 8.325 and a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.01). Especially among young adult women, as young adult women tend to have more demands in early adulthood compared to young adult men. The demands of these developmental tasks are best faced by having good emotional regulation in order to avoid psychological issues while fulfilling developmental tasks. The objective of this research is to examine the relationship between father attachment and emotional regulation in young adult women The research method employed is quantitative with a correlational design. The research included 213 participants, specifically young adult women aged 18-25 years, who were unmarried and employed, selected through incidental sampling method. The scale used to measure father attachment is the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA), and the scale used to measure emotional regulation is the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ). The data analysis method employed was Spearman's Rho. The research results indicate a significant positive relationship between father attachment and emotional regulation in young adult women (r= 0,285 and sig.=0,000). The more secure the attachment between fathers and young adult women, the higher the emotional regulation they possess. Thus, the hypothesis in this research is accepted. It is hoped that young adult women can continue to develop emotional regulation effectively to cope with the demands of early adulthood and prevent the emergence of issues during this developmental stage.","PeriodicalId":500586,"journal":{"name":"Psyche 165 journal","volume":"28 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135476781","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This situation places significant physical and mental pressure on her. The spouse’s role as a support system is no longer available to the single mom, and the grief experienced as an independent single mom leads to changes in her psychological well-being. This research aims to provide an overview of the psychological well-being of single mothers who have lost their spouses due to death. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with thematic analysis. Data collection involves semi-structured interviews with three participants using snowball sampling. The research findings indicate that single mothers undergo changes in self-acceptance and their current experiences after experiencing profound grief due to abandonment for approximately one year. Social support from the family influences a positive connection with their environment, while a lack of social support results in loneliness and reduced self-esteem. Job instability makes it difficult for single mothers to earn a living and be self-reliant. Social pressures related to the assessment of their status as widows and single mothers are felt by them. Single mothers have life goals related to the future of their children, and for those who are pessimistic, life is often entirely dedicated to their children, with limited opportunities for self-development. This research can be used by mental health promotion program designers and policymakers as additional empirical information on the current condition of single mothers' psychological well-being.","PeriodicalId":500586,"journal":{"name":"Psyche 165 journal","volume":"34 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136105771","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The increasing global prevalence of eating disorders underscores the need for an in-depth understanding of these disorders. It is known that the emergence of eating disorders is influenced by excessive evaluation one’s body and attempts to avoid unpleasant experiences. This indicates the role of psychological inflexibility in individuals with eating disorder symptoms. One of the protective factors against eating disorders is self-compassion, which is a gentle and loving attitude towards oneself, even when experiencing difficult experiences or emotions. Self-compassion helps individuals to become more flexible in dealing with their experiences and emotions, thereby avoiding maladaptive behavior. This study aims to examine the role of psychological inflexibility as a mediator in the relationship between self-compassion and eating disorder symptoms. This is a cross-sectional study involving 141 female participants aged 18-25 years (M=22,6, SD=2,02) who were obtained through convenience sampling techniques. Data retrieval is done using three measuring instruments, which are Self-compassion scale, acceptance and action questionnaire-II, and Eating Attitudes Test-13. The results showed that psychological inflexibility had a mediating effect in the relationship between self-compassion and eating disorder symptoms. Moreover, self-compassion cannot predict eating disorder symptoms directly without psychological inflexibility as an intermediary. It can be concluded that an individual's level of self-compassion lead to eating disorder symptoms through psychological inflexibility. The results also support the possible application of self-compassion interventions and acceptance and commitment therapy to treat eating disorder symptoms.","PeriodicalId":500586,"journal":{"name":"Psyche 165 journal","volume":"44 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136067928","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
