However, information about the community's ability to anticipate fire disasters is still very limited. The research objective was to determine community preparedness in facing the threat of fire in Penggilingan Village, Cakung District, East Jakarta. The method used is descriptive research using quantitative data. The study population consisted of all heads of households living in Penggilingan sub-district, totaling 40,641 families, while the sample was part of the heads of families, totaling 125 families. Sampling used proportional random sampling technique. The research variable was community preparedness in facing the threat of fire as measured by 4 parameters from LIPI-UNESCO/ISDR, 2006 namely knowledge and attitude, disaster warning system, emergency response plan, and ability to mobilize resources. Data were analyzed using frequency distribution tables and preparedness indexes. The results showed that the community is prepared to face the threat of fire in Penggilingan Village, Kec. Cakung is categorized as ready with an index value of 79.03. Even though it is in the ready category, it would be better if this preparedness continues to be improved to become very ready. Especially preparedness regarding the disaster warning system and the ability to mobilize resources that still need to be evaluated by the community and stakeholders. As well as fire socialization or training programs should be further intensified so that information about fire disasters can be received by all levels of society.","PeriodicalId":496084,"journal":{"name":"Jambura Geo Education Journal","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135038938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Efforts have been made to increase knowledge about landslide disasters among the public. The use of technology through applications in providing knowledge about landslide disasters generally uses text and images. To address this gap, we developed a new application prototype with disaster knowledge and evacuation route navigation features called LANDIE (Landslide Disaster Education). The method used is quantitative descriptive in the form of mean and standard deviation analysis; descriptive percentage; kolmogorov-smirnov and paired sample t-test. The research results reveal that the LANDIE application prototype is effective in increasing knowledge of landslide disasters. This is supported by the findings that initial knowledge about landslide disasters is at medium criteria, with the application design being suitable for use with revisions, the application is suitable for use as a medium in disaster training, and the LANDIE application prototype is declared effective in increasing knowledge about landslide disasters.","PeriodicalId":496084,"journal":{"name":"Jambura Geo Education Journal","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135037770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At SMA Negeri 1 Papar, the challenge of low creative thinking skills of students is evident in test results. with an average daily test score of 70 reflecting this concern. Nonetheless, the latent potential to develop creative thinking skills exists within Indonesian students, thus the need to encourage teachers to use appropriate educational strategies. To that end, the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model emerged as an appropriate solution to address the shortcomings in students' creative thinking skills. However, little knowledge is available in this important area. This research focuses on assessing the impact of the PBL model on students' creative thinking skills by using a quasi-experimental methodology. The experiment involved students in class XI-IIS 1 (36 students) as the experimental class and XI-IIS 3 (34 students) as the control class in the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year at SMA Negeri 1 Papar. Using essay questions as an assessment tool, the data were analyzed using SPSS 23 for Windows through a t-test, with a significance level of 0.05. In particular, a considerable difference was observed between the experimental group using the PBL model and the control group using the conventional approach. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significance level of 0.000, underscoring the potential of the PBL model in fostering higher creative thinking ability among students, as evidenced by its striking difference with a significancethresholdof 0.05. The findings are useful to Educators, teachers, parents and students. The study recommended that PBL can be adopted and used to teach in all subject areas in the currica inorder to help develop the creative thinking skills of students.","PeriodicalId":496084,"journal":{"name":"Jambura Geo Education Journal","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135037765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The functions of settlements go far beyond just providing a place for rest and shelter. Settlements serve as spaces where social interactions occur, relationships between individuals and groups develop, and community identities are formed. Ngagelrejo is located in the densely populated Wonokromo district of Surabaya, and despite its high population density, it is an area that is in great demand for residential purposes. When considering land ownership status, the entire area consists of land without citizen ownership titles, commonly referred to as \"surat ijo\" or green certificates. The purpose of this research is to understand the reasons why people choose to reside in densely populated areas. The research methodology employed is a qualitative phenomenological approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Triangulation and in-depth interviews were conducted to ensure the validity of the data. The results of the study indicate that the choice of living in a densely populated area is primarily influenced by strong family and friendship bonds. The location of the residence is relatively close to workplaces, providing convenience and compatibility with the surroundings. Additionally, the price of land in this area is lower compared to other areas in the city of Surabaya.","PeriodicalId":496084,"journal":{"name":"Jambura Geo Education Journal","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135037760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
