Pavan, Marcus Antônio Rossi-Feliciano","doi":"10.21897/RMVZ.2007","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21897/RMVZ.2007","url":null,"abstract":"This paper aims to review, discuss and define the factors associated with development of kidney injury in patients with sepsis, diagnosis alternatives, therapy and prevention, offering to the veterinarians an updated guide to improve the prognosis of sepsis patients. Sepsis is a clinical condition that leads to systemic complications and to multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), mainly due to poor tissue perfusion in humans and animals. Acute kidney injury (AKI) is considered the most frequent and lethal among organ complications secondary to sepsis, however the etiology of AKI in patients with sepsis is complex and multifactorial and not completely elucidated. Early diagnosis of AKI is difficult and consequently the treatment is not very successful, due to hemodynamic aspects. Upon clinical examination, multifocal and symmetrical bilateral scabbed alopecia was observed. An ultrasonographic evaluation was carried out determining the presence of ovarian cysts. As a therapeutic alternative, an ovariohysterectomy (OVH) was performed with an excisional biopsy of both ovaries, which were sent to the pathology laboratory. The histopathological findings concluded a neoplasm of the left ovary consistent with a Luteoma. Nonetheless, the right ovary did not present significant lesions. Identificar ectoparásitos en las plumas primarias de avestruces adultas alojadas en un criadero del Departamento del Cauca Colombia. Materiales y métodos. Un total de 15 aves adultas (mayores de 7 años), con un peso promedio de 120 kg (10 hembras y 5 machos) fueron seleccionadas para el estudio. De cada ejemplar fueron extraídas tres plumas primarias del ala, siendo depositadas en bolsas plásticas para ser enviadas al Laboratorio de ciencias básicas de la Universidad Antonio Nariño. Una contramuestra de ácaros fijados en alcohol al 70% fue enviada a la Universidad Nacional, posteriormente, los parásitos se montaron en láminas examinadas al microscopio. Este estudio fue de tipo descriptivo y a conveniencia. Resultados. Las plumas poseían barbas desorganizadas y en su raquis un polvo de color café, al analizarlas microscópicamente, se obtuvo aproximadamente 1000 especímenes de un ácaro de pluma por muestra, del orden Astigmata, familia Pterolichidae y género Struthiopterolichus sp., lográndose diferenciar hembras, machos, ninfas y larvas. Este es el primer reporte del ácaro de Struthiopterolichus sp. en avestruces de Colombia. Conclusiones. En los avestruces inspeccionados se colectaron plumas que contenían el ácaro Struthiopterolichus sp. The objective of this work was to calculate descriptive statistics of milk yields. Materials and methods. 6733 milk controls were carried in the morning, afternoon and total/day milkings produced by 21 goats saanen, alpina americana and togenburen breeds in a semi stable system located in the Ocaña region, Norte de Santander; Results. Milk yield (milliliters) in the morning, afternoon and daily total was 564.99±242.38, 259.30±112.81 and 824.29±350.07. Also, it was observed that in the non-parametric statistical tests of the probability distribution of the phenotypic expression of the morning, afternoon and daily total yield, they presented highly significant normalities (p<0.0001). Estudiar la calidad de la canal y la carne en pollos de ceba que consumen harina de frutos de Roystonea regia (palmiche). Materiales y métodos. Se utilizaron 40 pollos de ceba distribuidos según diseño completamente aleatorizado en cuatro tratamientos: control (maíz-pasta de soya) y la inclusión de 5, 10 y 15% de harina de palmiche. Se estudió el rendimiento de la canal, grasa abdominal y la calidad de la carne (tecnológicos y composición de ácidos grasos (AG)). Para los parámetros de apariencia se realizó análisis de varianza no paramétrico de clasificación simple. Resultados. No se encontraron diferencias entre tratamientos para el peso de la canal y pH a los 45 minutos y 24 horas postmortem. Hubo una reducción de la grasa abdominal en el 5 y 15% con respecto al control (13.00 y 11.96 vs 17.02 g/kg), en tanto que el 10% no difirió del resto (15.10 g/kg) (P<0,01). No se observaron diferencias en el color, excepto para la luminosidad en el muslo que fue superior con la inclusión de 10 y 15% (48.62 y 49.22) respecto al 5% (45.32) y el control no difirió entre tratamientos (47.53) (P<0,05). La composición de AG en las diferentes porciones comestibles mostró que las aves depositaron los ácidos oleico, linoleico y palmítico en mayor proporción. Conclusiones. Evaluate the effects of supplementation with different protein sources (soybean meal and wheat bran with urea) on the productive performance, intake, digestibility, microbial protein synthesis, and metabolic profile of grazing beef heifers. Materials and methods. Were used twenty Nellore heifers at 8.5±0.06 months of age, with an initial average body weight of 241.5±4.71 kg. The animals were distributed in a completely randomized deseing with two treatments and ten replicates. Two protein sources in the supplements were evaluated: 1) Soybean meal (SBM), and 2) Soybean meal + Wheat bran + Urea (SBM+WB+U). Results. Crude protein (CP) and organic matter intakes were higher (p<0.05) for heifers from SBM compared with SBM+WB+U. The CP digestibility was increased (p<0.05) with SBM supplementation. Mean blood concentrations of glucose, cholesterol, serum urea nitrogen, and total proteins were not affected (p>0.10) by protein sources. In the same way, daily weight gain and final body weight were not influenced (p>0.10) by protein sources. Conclusions.
