This study was intended to identify the main characteristics of the image of the spirit–mistress of the earth, Aan Alakhchyn Khotun, in the olonkho epic. Use was made of the structural, functional, and semantic analysis, as well as of the review and generalization, with the principle of historicism being the key one. The analysis has revealed the following stable signs of the image: being a female, a predominance of white color, nudity of breasts, elegant clothes, localization in the world tree, divine origin, and the functions of a nurse, protector, or adviser. A cane and a ladle in her hands or a shamanic tambourine and a mallet have been found to be characteristic attributes of the appearance. The natural prima materia and, in some texts, the anthropomorphic images (little people) of Ereke-Dyereke tend to accompany the arrival of Aan Alakhchyn Khotun. Emphasis is placed on the ornithomorphic hypostasis of the spirit of the words of the image in the form of a cuckoo. The early records demonstrate the phytomorphic hypostasis of the image in question in the form of a fusion of the images of the spirit of the tree and the hostess of the place. A conclusion is drawn that the semantic features of the image of Aan Alakhchyn Hotun reflect the multi-temporal nature of their historical appearances, suggesting further genetic studies to explore the archaic image of the spirit-mistress of the earth.","PeriodicalId":492289,"journal":{"name":"Âzyki i folʹklor korennyh narodov Sibiri","volume":"2014 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135107519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The name of this character includes the gakhai ‘pig/boar’ component. At the same time, it is an anthropomorphic character with obvious mythological roots. Gakhai bagsha is a type of simpleton under the guise of a sage who emerges victorious from conflict situations thanks to his luck and coincidence. The epic Gakhai bagsha is rather close to the deity of the shamanic-buddhist character. An indispensable attribute of Gakhai bagsha in fairy tales and epics is a pig’s / boar’s head. The mythological basis of this outfit appears in the folk calendar. Gakhai bagsha making a fire under the ground is associated with the arrival of spring and the thawing of the earth. In shamanic invocations, he is called the owner of the earth. The image of Gakhai bagsha is rooted in ancient ideas about the owner of the earth embodying the idea of fertility and the heavenly deity controlling the rains and fertility. Not only did the ancient Mongols have such representations. They were also widespread in the world culture. Another aspect of this image is the reminiscence of the totemistic cult of the boar-first ancestor. Gakhai Bagsha is likely to have appeared in the folklore and mythological space of Buryats through the Khori-Buryat people. Due to historical reasons, Khori-Buryats were longer influenced by the Mongol world and preserved the ancient Mongolian mythological and totemistic representations.","PeriodicalId":492289,"journal":{"name":"Âzyki i folʹklor korennyh narodov Sibiri","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135106971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their genetic closeness determines the similarity in the organization of color naming systems due to their common historical roots. However, this closeness does not deny the differences that arose during their independent cultural and historical development. The morphological method is basic in the word formation process of color designations of the languages under study. A number of parametric values are formed, in particular, the sufficiency or insufficiency of color, the degree of color intensity and saturation (high or low), and the gradation of features. The word formation mechanism also includes compounding and reduplication (full and partial), syntactic and comparative constructions. Each of the methods is intended to express specific semantics, with the morphological expressing a weak degree, reduplication demonstrating high-degree features, and compounding designating mixed colors. The word-formation analysis of color designation allows a conclusion to be drawn that the Kazakh and Altai languages possess a significant potential for expanding and enriching the lexical-semantic group of color designations.","PeriodicalId":492289,"journal":{"name":"Âzyki i folʹklor korennyh narodov Sibiri","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135106490","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Being isolated from the Russian population, they did not know Russian until the second half of the 20th century. The documented texts of the traditional Taz Selkup folklore were analyzed to identify the diachronically early ways of expressing comparative relations. It was found that the equivalent comparison prevails in diachronically early mythological texts and is realized by syntactic constructions denoting similarity. The comparative relation of similarity of the object and the standard of comparison according to a certain characteristic is expressed mainly by postpositions. The postpositions tarД (tar) ‘like’, ‘like someone else’, car ‘how’, saqyn ‘respectively’, ‘similarly’, ‘just like’, and kəpy ‘with value’ are combined with pronouns and nouns in the possessive and non-possessive form of the genitive. The postpositional construction functioning rule is to place the word preceding the postposition in the genitive form. All the postpositions mentioned (except car) are commonly used in non-metaphorical comparisons. The postposition car functions in metaphorical comparisons, requiring the preceding word in the locative adjectival form. A synthetic indicator, the special “coordinate” case affix šaŋ, is sometimes used to express an equivalent comparison mainly in diachronically early constructions of complicated sentences, with verbal nouns and adverbial participles predominating. A non-equivalent comparison reflecting the differences between the object and the standard is realized by constructions including the object of comparison (noun or pronoun in the main case), the standard of comparison (a noun or a pronoun in the form of an ablative), and the sign underlying the comparison (an adjective or an adverb).","PeriodicalId":492289,"journal":{"name":"Âzyki i folʹklor korennyh narodov Sibiri","volume":"109 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135106703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A case study of artistic and folklore texts and field materials allowed the phonetic, dialect, lexical-semantic, folklore, and ethnographic features of zoonyms denoting deer animals in the Altai language and folklore to be identified for the first time. The cultural stereotypes of the Altai people about deer are closely related to hunting customs and traditions. In hunting folklore, reindeer family members have a sacred meaning: they are considered sacred animals of Altai, the personification of the master spirit of Altai. In this context, a complete system of prohibitions and taboos has been formulated within the realm of hunting ethics. In the fiction of the Altai people, the deer and elk became animal characters of hunting stories and are also used for comparisons and metaphorical allegories about humans. In folklore and artistic texts, the denotative features of zoonyms characterize the features of the body structure or color, the habitat of these wild animals. The connotations associated with these zoonyms serve as a reflection of a person’s moral and ethical character. In the linguistic consciousness of native speakers of the Altai language and culture, deer and elk are associated with male strength and courage. The participation of zoonyms-reindeer in the conceptualization of spatial and temporal concepts is presented in chrononyms (sygyn ai ‘month of deer’) and toponyms indicating the habitat of moose and deer (for example, Bulandu ‘with moose’).","PeriodicalId":492289,"journal":{"name":"Âzyki i folʹklor korennyh narodov Sibiri","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135107330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Lamu-khinskiy dialect is understandable to most speakers of the Western dialect of the Even language spoken in Yakutia. The Lamukhinskiy dialect is prevalent in the territory of the Kobyai district of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) within the villages of Sebyan-Kyuel and Segyan-Kyuel. This idiome is currently among the most prosperous Even dialects with a higher vitality in terms of functioning parameters and social indicators: about 800 people regularly communicate in it, with intergenerational transmission preserved in the area of the language community. A detailed examination of the most commonly used verbal forms, i.e., the participles in the Lamukhinskiy dialect, is necessary to complete the data on specific issues of morphology and syntax in Tunguso-Manchu linguistics. In contrast to other Eastern and Western dialects, the composition of participial forms in the dialect under consideration is much broader. This study has identified for the first time the use of previously unidentified participles of the following actions: obligatory, passive, and possible with obligatory meaning. The analysis of morphological criteria and semantic content identified the perfect participle and the participle of convenience for performing an action. The article presents the author’s version of the classification of the Even dialects, including the Lamukhinskiy dialect. The study was performed based on the field materials collected by the author.","PeriodicalId":492289,"journal":{"name":"Âzyki i folʹklor korennyh narodov Sibiri","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135107507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the Buryat-Russian Dictionary, the lexeme under consideration has the single meaning of “conscience.” This study aimed to reveal a holistic picture of the semantics of the lexeme under study. The Electronic Corpus of the Buryat language was chosen as an invaluable source for identifying the other meanings of the lexeme. The corpus contains 2.8 million instances of word usage documented in written texts, primarily of the literary style, accompanied by their meta-descriptions. The word hešxel was formed by the phonetic method of word formation from the word sed’xel “thoughts, intention, soul, heart.” The alternation of root consonants s//һ, d’//š can be traced. The analysis of the Electronic Corpus identified the original meaning of hešxel “soul” later extended to “sympathy, affection,” “sincerity, responsiveness,” “intimate connection” and “wish.” The meaning of “conscience” is believed to have originated from the concepts of “sincerity and responsiveness.” For example, the adverb hešxelgüi could be translated both “half-hearted, indifferent” and “unscrupulous, shameless.” Additionally, the meaning “conscience” is assumed to have appeared influenced by the Russian language, given the absence of a special word for “conscience” in the Khalkha-Mongolian language. Buryat language, at a certain point, probably needed a word to regulate human behavior in society to define moral guidelines. A further study of the Mongolic-language vocabulary characterizing human emotional states may expand the semantic structure of words and uncover the peculiarities of the value system of the Mongolic peoples.","PeriodicalId":492289,"journal":{"name":"Âzyki i folʹklor korennyh narodov Sibiri","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135106963","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The vocal cord activity was assessed non-invasively with sensors on the speaker’s throat. The recordings were seg-mented and annotated via Praat software and then statistically processed with the Emu-SDMS corpus manager and R programming language. A voicing rate was calculated as the relative duration of the sound segment defining the fundamental frequency. Over 770 sound segments were processed. The obstruent consonants /p/, /t/, /c͡ç/, /k/, /s/, /ɬ/, and /ʎ̥/ were pronounced voicelessly, partially voiced in intervocalic position but never having sonants’ and vowels’ typical values. The obstruent consonants had the voicing coefficients of 0–0,44, with the mean values for different phonemes of 0,02–0,06, while vowels feature the voicing coefficients of 0,44–0,89 and the mean values of 0,53–0,82. The sonor consonants /m/, /n/, /r/, /j/, /ɣ/, /ɲ/, /ŋ/, and /w/ were pronounced as voiced in the initial and medial positions. In the final position, the sonor consonants were realized as devoiced or voiceless depending on the syntagmatic conditions, with the voicing coefficients of 0–0,83 and average values of 0,4–0,63. The paper provides oscillograms and glottograms for the sounds investigated. A control evaluation was conducted using the acoustic data. The comparison of the consonant voicing data from the audio recording and glottography revealed only the latter method to accurately detect a boundary of the voiced segment.","PeriodicalId":492289,"journal":{"name":"Âzyki i folʹklor korennyh narodov Sibiri","volume":"109 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135106967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
