With the death of the organization ́s founder and president, in 2004, the company passed through various restructuring, purchasing and selling processes, which almost led to a state of bankruptcy. In November, 2008, after a new purchase, Gerusa needed to decide whether or not to accept a new remuneration package offered by the owners, considerably lower than the salary that she had been receiving before. This teaching case can be used with undergraduate and graduate students in the classroom, based on the themes: Organizational Culture, Career Management (of older workers), personal and organizational values, motivation, interpersonal trust, negotiation, organizational and decision-making processes. The aim was to contribute to building a training program, focusing on the teachers’ reality, especially the complexity and lack of results dissemination in this area. We established the following overall objective: to see how teachers develop their skills and relate which skills are essential and the most important for performing academic duties. The methodology consisted of a quantitative survey using a questionnaire, with a descriptive character. The data presented were obtained from research institutions that specialize in the subject, and constitute a scenario of the sector. The proposal is to enable students to analyze prospects for continued investment, either from the private or public sector. The dilemma presented puts students in the position of mill owners, who must decide in which of the products derived from sugar cane to invest: sugar, ethanol, bioelectricity or product diversification, higher value-added and/or environmentally friendly, as in the case of bioplastics. To achieve this goal, a structured electronic questionnaire was sent to a set of organizations that use an electronic procurement portal. SED is one that can be transmitted or stored in digital media, and if in accordance with the technical procedures defined by the ICP-Brazil (Medida provisória no 2.200-2, 2001), assumes the same legal validity as documents issued on paper and physically signed. The organizational impacts of SED adoption on the electronic procurement portal were analyzed according to the following categories: in the acquisition or development of computer systems; user training; in the flow of procurement processes; in organizational change through user resistance; process time reduction; and in improving purchasing process efficiency. The study shows that adherence to secure electronic documents is still very discreet in the organizations surveyed, although its use provides a significant reduction in costs and time in the process flow. The history of Azambuja Street starts with the emergence of trade in wholesale clothing and also a history of entrepreneurship and strategic adaptation. The case’s educational objectives can be outlined as follows: (a) understand the impact in organizations generated by changes in the economy, (b) analyze the process of strategic adaptation in the case, (c) relate the context of strategic adaptation to a practical example of entrepreneurship. The case can be used in undergraduate and graduate Business Administration programs, to cover issues relating to management, strategy and entrepreneurship.
