It has also a major impact on sports performance. The awareness of nutrition playing an important role for sportsperson and athletes. Many factors can impact the performance of a sports person during competition which may be related to different domains. The most encountered nutritional related problem among sports person is their failure to consume sufficient total of food energy. Balance diet and good dietary practices allow athletes to train hard, regenerate quickly, adapt better, while reducing the risk of illness and injury. Athletes should use appropriate nutritional strategies before and after their performance, to achieve the best results. They should pay special attention to the amount of carbohydrate, protein, fats, vitamins, minerals, in their food.","PeriodicalId":489118,"journal":{"name":"Journal of sports science and nutrition","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135855952","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method: A total of 140 students enrolled in sports-type courses (aged 23.90 ± 3.07 years) constituted the sample for this cross-sectional study conducted at Marien Ngouabi University. The Sports Nutrition Questionnaire for Young People and Adults (NUKYA) was used for data collection. It included 24 questions with 59 items covering four different sections: macronutrients (29 items), micronutrients (19 items), hydration (8 items) and periodicity of food intake (3 items). All data were processed by using SPSS 26.0 Software. The significance difference was set at p < 0.05. Results: Knowledge of sports nutrition (mean overall score = 29.17 ± 4.70 and adequate response rate = 12%) was very low. Similarly, Knowledge for macronutrient, micronutrient, hydration and periodicity of food intake were also very low. Conclusion: The respondents had presented inadequate knowledge of sports nutrition.","PeriodicalId":489118,"journal":{"name":"Journal of sports science and nutrition","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135806108","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This drive, often referred to as athletic achievement motivation, is the fuel that propels athletes to push beyond their limits and strive for excellence. In the world of sports, there are two main categories of athletes: those who compete as part of a team and those who compete as individuals. Both types of athletes have their own unique motivations and challenges when it comes to achieving success. This research, will explore the differences between team and individual athletes. The sample for the study consists of 30 individual and 30 team game players those who had competed in Inter-Collegiate tournaments of M.D.S. University, Ajmer. The Standardized Dr. M.L. Kamlesh Sports Achievement Motivation Test (SMAT) was employed for the purpose of the study. The results of the study indicated that Individual game players had slightly lower achievement motivation than Team game players. This type of study is beneficial for physical educators and coaches to improve performance through achievement motivation.","PeriodicalId":489118,"journal":{"name":"Journal of sports science and nutrition","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135812061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Participation: Thirty male hockey players were randomly selected S.S.D.M. College, Kovilpatti, Tamil Nadu, and their age ranged between 18 to 21 years old. Method and Measures: The subjects were randomly assigned to two equal groups (n=15) namely experimental group and control group. Experimental group underwent SAQ training for a period of six weeks and control group did not participate in any kind of protocol-related exercises under supervision or SAQ training. The variables such as namely speed and dribbling ability were selected as dependent variables. Pre and post-assessment random group design was used for this study. Statistical technique: The dependent ‘t’ test was applied to determine the difference between the means of two groups. To find out whether there was any significant difference between the experimental and control groups. To test the level of significant of difference between the means 0.05 level of confidence was fixed. Results: The result of the study shows that, there was a significant improvement takes place on speed and dribbling ability of hockey players due to the effect of six weeks SAQ training and also concluded that, there was a significant difference exists between experimental and control group. Conclusion: SAQ training can also be used to help improve sports skill performance, as it can help to develop speed and","PeriodicalId":489118,"journal":{"name":"Journal of sports science and nutrition","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135852542","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Extensive searches were conducted in databases including PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, Google Scholar, Embase, Web of Science, CINAHL, and Medline. Among the initially identified 538 articles with potential relevance, a thorough assessment of full-text articles was performed, resulting in the inclusion of seven studies that satisfied all predefined inclusion criteria. All studies were evaluated as having a low risk of bias. Five of the included studies reported statistically significant differences before and after intervention, thus providing support for the use of phosphatidylserine as a supplement to support athletic performance. However, despite these promising results obtained from clinical trials, the current evidence remains insufficient to firmly endorse the use of phosphatidylserine for its impact on athletic performance.","PeriodicalId":489118,"journal":{"name":"Journal of sports science and nutrition","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135855805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
