Statements from 200 years ago turn out to be accurate and up-to-date: the postulate of the integrity of upbringing, the primary goal of which should be to build health, criticism of one-sided intellectual education of children, warning against the negative effects of immobilizing children in the classroom, the postulate of including in the educational process the means that our ancestors used. In the first point, the specificity of developmental situation of adopted children is discussed, given their earlier staying in the foster care system. Additionally, the statistical data regarding the current numbers of children being either adopted or cared for in the foster care system in Poland is presented here. In the second point, the findings of a Polish research project dealing with the foster parents opinions on the specific educational needs of children placed in the foster care system are shown. In the third point, the results of two chosen foreign empirical research projects (carried out in the UK and the US) are analyzed, both of which are directly related to the title problem pursued in this article. During the projects opinions were collected respectively from parents and teachers. The inspiration and justification for undertaking the consideration of this issue are both the content of the dominant discourses on childhood and the importance of early education. The interpretative perspective of the kindergarten activity has been established as one of the concepts of pedagogization, for which the axial category is the facilitation of the child’s development. In order to answer the formulated research questions, the content of the Core Curriculum of Preschool Education was analysed. It seeks answers to the question about the media reality of preschoolers in the opinions of children, teachers and parents. The diagnostic survey method (questionnaire, interview, document analysis) and statistical methods (chi-square test of independence, ANOVA, Phi coefficient, Cramer's V) were used. The study examined 100 6-year-old children, 100 parents and 16 pre-school teachers. {"title":"Substantive and legislative comments to the Order of the Minister of National Education of 1992 regarding teaching religion and ethics","authors":"Tadeusz J. Zieliński","doi":"10.5604/01.3001.0054.1196","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5604/01.3001.0054.1196","url":null,"abstract":"The main normative instrument of the model of catechesis in state educational institutions adopted in Poland after 1989 is the Order of the Minister of National Education of April 14, 1992 on the conditions and method of organizing religious education in public kindergartens and schools. This is a legal act that does not meet the standards of a democratic state of law, especially those specified in the Constitution of the Republic of Poland of 1997. In addition to the issues of catechesis, it also regulates matters related to the subject of ethics.The Order of 1992 in particular regulates matters reserved for the parliamentary Act, contains provisions on matters not referred to by the Act for legislation, deeply interferes with the freedoms and rights of students / pupils, parents (legal guardians) and school staff, and poorly protects the rights of catechists. In many ways it also violates the principles of correct legislation.It is an example of legislative nonchalance serving one social group, while neglecting the protection of all participants of the education system in Poland, especially people not interested in participating in religious education. The legal solutions contained therein are also harmful, among others: for pupils participating in Catholic catechesis, if only because they are exposed to a mechanism based on social and peer pressure. The aim of the study is to provide a general description of the reflexivity as a key category in the research process and particularly important in modern times described as uncertain and relativized. The starting point is a description of the general importance of reflexivity. Subsequently, reference is made to what the transition from a positivist research paradigm to many competing or complementary methodological orientations looked like in the social sciences and humanities. The main part of the article is a description of the attributes and assumptions of reflective research. The understanding of values in terms of Marwin Berkowitz, Fritz Oser and Wiel Veugelers is the theoretical basis of the article.The analysis of curriculum began with a review of the literature on values in education. The next stage was to analyse the curriculum along with its Core Values (Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Integrity, Care and Harmony), embodied in the five domains, its three Big Ideas (Identity, Relationship, Choices) and its guiding principles in grades 1-2. Education here comes across as an interaction between various sets of teachers’ values and the ongoing construction of students’ values. The key part of the study is to analyse the Singaporean Character and Citizenship Education, principally its parts which involve the Core Values. Key Understandings and Key Questions make it possible for students to become involved in the variance of values in a constructive and critical manner. Tekst zawiera kompleksowy przegląd pochodzenia audiobooków i ich ewolucji od wczesnych nagrań do współczesnych formatów cyfrowych. W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki metaanalizy 45 badań przeprowadzonych w latach 2000-2022, które potwierdzają pozytywne efekty audiobooków na kompetencje czytelnicze. Dodatkowo, artykuł raportuje wyniki badań sondażowych (ankiety) przeprowadzonej wśród 717 nauczycieli edukacji wczesnoszkolnej w Polsce, badających ich postawy i sposoby korzystania z audiobooków w pracy z uczniami. Wyniki wskazują, że większość nauczycieli uważa, że audiobooki wywierają korzystny wpływ na rozwój poznawczy dzieci, ale dostrzegalne są różnice zdań dotyczące ich wpływu na samodzielne umiejętności czytania. Analiza ujawnia również związki między zmiennymi demograficznymi, takimi jak wiek, staż pracy i płeć a postawami nauczycieli wobec korzystania z audiobooków. Artykuł kończy się podkreśleniem potrzeby dalszych badań nad wykorzystaniem audiobooków w edukacji. The research material was collected through focus group interviews with children aged 7 and 9 from two villages in north-eastern Poland. As a result of the research, their social contacts in the space of home, school and backyard were characterized. It was found that the children experienced relatively limited solitude, being always in contact with family members and peers from the neighborhood. Staying at school is the basis for expanding the social relations of children in the countryside. Early school age children prefer direct contacts and the media did not constitute a satisfactory field of social relations during the pandemic.
