The intellectual image serves as one of the main character categories in the authors works. Bulgakov casts on these characters the ideology and social atmosphere of Soviet society in the early 20th century. Heart of a Dog is a milestone in Bulgakov's novel writing. The purpose of this essay is to take Professor Preobrazhensky as an example, to analyze the common points of the author's image of intellectuals who are extravagant, conservative, and obstinate, and to further analyze the tragic destiny of these intellectuals from the aspects of scientific ethics and personal worship.","PeriodicalId":488572,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"35 51","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139388790","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study analyzes the employment of narrative techniques in Dennis Lehane's \"Shutter Island\" by applying Lefebvre's space theory. This theory links space with social production, infused with Marxist concepts, imparting social attributes to space, transcending its conventional geometric definition. The research delves into three dimensions: spatial practice, spatial representation, and the space of representation to expound on how the spatial narration in the text mirrors the psychological transformations of the characters. Characters' memories within the spatial context influence their actions, generating a sequence of spatial clusters. The emergence of new spaces and imagery impacts character cognition. The three enigmatic symbols in the text encode the protagonist's memories, unravelled through dreams, constructing a novel textual space. It is within this multifaceted interplay that the treatment of 'mental illness' is addressed. This analysis demonstrates how narrative techniques intertwined with spatial theory serve as a compelling medium to portray intricate psychological facets in Lehane's \"\"Shutter Island\".\"","PeriodicalId":488572,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"34 22","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139389151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research aims to comprehensively analyze gender disparities in the US workplace. Despite the progress in granting women rights in other areas, such as voting rights, a significant wage gap still shows the ongoing gender disparity in the workplace. Through literature review, data collection and analysis on the current circumstances of wage gap in the US workplace, we identified several significant factors that could lead to further disparity, explored potential role of social discrimination behind these observations, and ultimately outlined a more systematic approach to addressing the prevailing gender inequality. By implementing these solutions, the gender disparity within the workplace can be substantially reduced.","PeriodicalId":488572,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"17 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139389240","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These range from competition with new media services, online broadcasting, and a myriad of digital media platforms. Yet, amidst these challenges lies the question of how local media can transition successfully in this new media era. Taking Haikou Music Broadcasting 916 as a representative case, this paper delves into the current predicaments faced by local radio stations. Moreover, it highlights strategies leveraging new media ideologies for transformation. The broader context involves a significant shift in listener demographics and preferences, underscored by the decline in traditional radio audience size and the parallel rise in smart device listenership. As local broadcasting stations grapple with these shifts, their strategic responsesincluding content diversification, multi-platform engagement, and offline event integrationsbecome pivotal. This research encapsulates these dynamics, offering insights into the evolving landscape of local urban broadcasting in China and presenting a roadmap for traditional media entities striving to remain relevant and impactful in the digital age.","PeriodicalId":488572,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"18 16","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139389452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through analyzing power dynamics, the gaze, and societal pressures, the essay explores the journey of Andy Sachs, an aspiring journalist navigating the world of fashion journalism under the formidable editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly. Theoretical frameworks, including Laura Mulvey's concept of the \"male gaze,\" Michel Foucault's power theory, and Pierre Bourdieu's cultural capital, enrich the understanding of the film's themes. \"The Devil Wears Prada\" offers a critical examination of the fashion industry's glamorous facade and its impact on individuals, prompting discussions about societal values and body positivity. While acknowledging the film's limitations as fictional, the essay highlights the fashion industry's evolving commitment to inclusivity, particularly in expanding clothes sizes. Ultimately, the movie serves as a timeless reference point for discussions on ambition and authenticity amidst societal pressures in the fashion world.","PeriodicalId":488572,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"122 38","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139387834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Long videos not only provide more selectivity, but also change the way humans watch videos. However, in the face of massive content competition, it becomes more difficult to attract viewers, leading to more people choosing to watch short videos. This paper explores the advantages of short video in modern communication, and proposes the revival of long video. Short videos are popular for their concise and clear features, which grab viewers' attention in a fast-paced society. They are easily shared and disseminated across various platforms, expanding the reach of information. Moreover, short videos provide a rich audio-visual experience, making communication more lively and interesting. On the other hand, long videos face challenges such as the dominance of short video platforms, rising membership fees, and copyright restrictions. To revive long videos, platforms can open up copyrights, reduce fees, and improve member benefits. Creators should focus on producing premium content with appealing themes, while the government can promote the import of foreign films to enrich viewing options. Viewers can use their free time to watch long-form videos in theaters or on TV. By addressing these challenges and promoting quality content, long-form videos can thrive alongside short-form videos in the modern media landscape.","PeriodicalId":488572,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"82 16","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139388110","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Spanning 42 years, the \"Star Wars\" film series of 11 movies exhibits marked differences in female character portrayal. Over several years of development, female roles have gradually moved away from the singular identity of being \"objects of gaze,\" no longer solely passive \"desires of objects\" or mere carriers for the flat representation of male characters in the audience's eyes and within the films. In the current narrative mechanism of Star Wars movies, the patriarchal center has been significantly challenged, and the \"female discourse subject\" with agency and independent will is gradually emerging. This study aims to explore the relevant connections between these female characters and the feminist trends of the time. By decoding the imagery of women in mainstream commercial films under the patriarchal framework, it analyzes the underlying gender ideologies and attempts to explore the future trajectory of constructing female discourse.","PeriodicalId":488572,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"10 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139388448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The two groups have a high degree of behavioral overlap but differ in motivation due to different psychological needs. Research on urban network hotspot space needs more exploration of small-scale road sections and coverage of spatial boundary perception, social media, and other factors in space formation and evolution mechanisms. Therefore, this study will take the consumption space with the strongest interweaving of the two groups as the starting point to explore the countermeasures for spatial boundary perception with the theoretical support of scene theory. It was found that various factors such as social media, tourist experience-oriented consumption psychology, and the perception of spatial boundaries by both tourists and students influenced the drastic change in urban hotspot consumption space. This study provides some reference for understanding and guiding the development of such areas.","PeriodicalId":488572,"journal":{"name":"Communications in Humanities Research","volume":"47 22","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139389018","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
