As academic libraries transition to hybrid models integrating physical and digital collections, traditional Online Public Access Catalogs (OPACs) often fall short in providing seamless access to full-text e-resources, including unpublished and published research papers, and in offering data visualization tools.The web application developed in this study addresses these challenges by incorporating mechanisms to ensure effective access to e-resources, providing personalized recommendations, and utilizing data visualization tools. Guided by the Technological Acceptance Theory (TAT) and Diffusion of Innovation Theory (DOI), and utilizing a user-focused design approach, the application integrates modern content platform methods, offering full-text access, links to additional resources, and insights into user preferences. The application's effectiveness was evaluated against ISO/IEC 25010 standards, demonstrating a 97.48% effectiveness rate, with high scores in usability, reliability, and security. The results indicate that the web application significantly enhances the library user experience, providing valuable data for informed decision-making and service optimization. Future research should focus on integrating OPAC functionalities, cataloging capabilities, citation generation, and extending the application to all academic library resources. This study underscores the potential of tailored web applications in transforming academic libraries to meet the evolving needs of their patrons.","PeriodicalId":483282,"journal":{"name":"International journal of advanced trends in computer science and engineering","volume":" 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141369875","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Studies have shown that not all contraceptives have side effects, and only a few women who use contraceptives have discomfort. A lack of adequate recommendations, counsel and perceptions are mitigating the willingness to use contraceptives. The increase in the Nigerian population growth rate calls for prompt and adequate responses to regulate birth control. This study addresses this gap by developing a rule-based contraceptive informatics expert system. Primary data on contraceptive discomfort were collected, and knowledge from various sources, including human experts and medical websites, was extracted. Feature engineering was employed to select relevant variables for model development. The system, implemented using Java programming, provides user-friendly interfaces and accurately displays contraceptive discomfort based on patient blood type. Our findings suggest that an expert system has the potential to increase willingness to use contraceptives. Human sleep behavior is one area open for research, particularly on human snoring. The ESP32 microcontroller was used to modify the processes of capturing human snoring during sleep. This embedded IoT-based device monitors and captures the snoring activity of the human being while sleeping. A prototype of the modified device with its new algorithm was developed, and different test experiments were conducted to test its system performance. Experiment results showcased the accuracy of capturing snoring frequencies beyond established norms and measuring decibel levels within specific parameters. Technical challenges were encountered, such as static interferences and data storage errors, but all were systematically addressed, highlighting the system's robustness. Pilot experiments on EXP1 and EXP2 provided insights into the system's adaptability to different environmental conditions. It is recommended to incorporate upgraded machine learning algorithms into a more powerful microcontroller to improve noise differentiation and computational capabilities and to collaborate with sleep experts to enable diagnostic capabilities. Recognizing this, our study is specifically tailored to address this challenge within the realm of unsupervised text analysis. We put forth an innovative approach that marries the K-means algorithm with Bregman distance, meticulously crafted to accommodate the idiosyncrasies inherent in textual data. Our iterative methodology is designed with a dual purpose: to mitigate the adverse effects of noise and to ensure the stability of the clusters formed, all underpinned by the sophisticated metric of Kullback-Leibler divergence. Through rigorous experimentation, we validated the efficacy of our method in effectively segmenting texts into coherent clusters. Notably, our approach outperformed an initial categorization, providing a more nuanced and representative depiction of the diverse array of topics present within the corpus. However, the success of these digital initiatives depends heavily on the user experience (UX) they offer. This paper presents an exploratory review of the user experience factors influencing e-government services. Drawing upon existing literature and empirical studies, this review identifies and examines key factors that shape the UX of e-government platforms, including accessibility, usability, security, personalization, multi-channel accessibility, content quality, and feedback mechanisms. The paper explores how these factors contribute to the public value generated by e-government services, encompassing benefits such as enhanced accessibility, improved efficiency, increased citizen engagement, greater transparency, cost savings, and innovative service delivery. Furthermore, the review highlights the need for governments to prioritize user-centered design principles and continuously evolve their digital offerings to meet the evolving needs and expectations of citizens. This trend has created a demand for customized itineraries and tour planning. Unfortunately, manual tour planning can be challenging to optimize, time-consuming, and increasingly complex as the number of locations increases. To automate and improve tour planning, optimization methods can be used, as they leverage algorithms to find efficient routes. The Genetic Algorithm (GA), an algorithm that mimics the course of natural evolution, is adept at navigating complex search spaces and finding optimal solutions, making it suitable for solving tour planning challenges. Building upon the work of J. Zhang (2021), this study aims to improve the performance of GA by enhancing the diversity of the population, removing redundant nodes, and reducing the execution time. Two simulators were created, one for each algorithm, to test their performance. The researchers conducted tests on both the existing and enhanced algorithms. This involved the utilization of several test data that contains coordinates of several cities in the Philippines. Based on the results, the enhanced algorithm showed better results compared to the existing algorithm. The advancement of technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and cloud computing has made it easier and more cost-effective to collect, analyze, and process vast amounts of data. This has enabled the creation and implementation of digital twins on a larger scale. Digital twins provide valuable insights and data- driven information to support decision-making. They enable organizations to simulate scenarios, test different strategies, and assess the impact of changes or interventions before implementing them in the physical world and thus help minimize risks and uncertainties associated with decision- making processes. Applications of Digital twins are not limited to specific industries or sectors. They have versatile applications across domains such as manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, smart cities, energy management etc. This broad applicability has contributed to the widespread interest and buzz around digital twins. The academic world has also not remained untouched with the advancement in this technology and efforts are on in the direction of designing Digital Twins for various aspects of education including supporting teaching, research, and administrative processes. As the technology continues to evolve, new and innovative applications are likely to emerge, transforming various aspects of teaching, learning, research, and administration in the academic sphere. In this study an effort is made to bring together the work carried out in the field of application of digital twins technology for teaching. Existing studies have been deliberated upon to analyze the progress and discover the prospects of bringing the digital teachers closer to human teachers. It can be inferred that as the technology continues to evolve, new and innovative applications are likely to emerge, transforming various aspects of teaching and learning in the academic sphere. It is also important to note that while digital twins of teachers hold potential benefits, their implementation and adoption in real-world educational settings are still developing.
