Hampir setiap tahun Malaysia mengalami bencana banjir tidak mengira tempat atau negeri. Manakala mahasiswa yang bertindak sebagai sukarelawan merupakan elemen yang penting semasa proses bantuan. Amalan semasa dan pada masa depan di dalam mengendali atau menguruskan bencana banjir seharusnya melibatkan penyertaan dari kalangan mahasiswa universiti. Hal ini menjadikan mahasiswa akan terdedah kepada tindakan kesiapsiagaan untuk menghadapi pengurusan bencana banjir di dalam komuniti. Persoalannya, adakah kesedaran dalam kalangan mahasiswa dalam kesiapsiagaan memberi bantuan banjir? Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif menerusi kaedah analisis kandungan. Hasil kajian mendapati kesedaran mahasiswa adalah terletak kepada diri masing-masing selain daripada pendedahan dari pihak universiti dalam memberi kesedaran dan kesiapsiagaan untuk memberi bantuan bencana banjir. Penglibatan mahasiswa dengan aktiviti berbentuk kesukarelawanan secara tidak langsung dapat memberi impak yang positif dalam diri mahasiswa tersebut","PeriodicalId":479229,"journal":{"name":"Asian Social Work Journal","volume":"54 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138950858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Oleh kerana taraf hidup yang lebih tinggi di kawasan bandar dengan adanya kemudahan infrastruktur, kesihatan dan pendidikan yang lebih baik, lebih ramai penjawat awam serta keluarga mereka masih belum bersedia untuk menyesuaikan gaya hidup di kawasan tersebut. Kongres Kesatuan Sekerja Dalam Perkhidmatan Awam (CUEPACS) mendapati kira-kira 60% penjawat awam tidak mampu untuk memiliki rumah sendiri berdekatan dengan tempat kerja mereka di kawasan bandar. Hanya kawasan di luar bandar menawarkan rumah mampu milik berharga tidak melebihi RM300,000 (USD65,000), manakala sebilangan besar penjawat awam bekerja di kawasan bandar. Status quo ini secara langsung menjadi salah satu faktor untuk mereka memilih terus tinggal di kawasan luar bandar yang jauh dari tempat mereka bekerja. Ini jelas menunjukkan bahawa sebilangan besar penjawat awam khususnya di Pulau Pinang tinggal di luar kawasan tempat mereka bekerja. Seramai 180 orang responden daripada kumpulan ini telah terlibat dalam tinjauan ini telah ditemu bual. Analisis kuantitatif telah dibincangkan dengan sewajarnya berdasarkan objektif kajian. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan sebilangan besar responden mengalami pelbagai kesulitan semasa berulang-alik setiap hari ke tempat kerja. Perjalanan ulang-alik jarak jauh turut menjejaskan kesejahteraan sosial, tekanan kerja dan kesihatan. Usaha untuk mengurangkan permasalah ini demi kelangsungan kehidupan yang lebih baik dalam kalangan mereka adalah amat penting. Peningkatan usaha boleh dilakukan melalui kerjasama dalam pelbagai program, faedah dan kemudahan seperti perlindungan, jaminan keselamatan, serta bantuan sosial.","PeriodicalId":479229,"journal":{"name":"Asian Social Work Journal","volume":"31 10","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135934078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research aimed to find out the process of shaping children's social skills from an early age carried out by parents in Bandung City. A quantitative approach with a descriptive method was chosen in the process of conducting the research. The selection of research subjects was carried out using a non-probability method, namely convenience sampling from parents who have school-age children (elementary and junior high school) who live in Bandung. The data collection method is done through a questionnaire in the form of a questionnaire in digital form (Google form) whose results will be processed with descriptive statistical data analysis techniques. The results showed that the dominant respondents with female gender, as many as 101 people (72.14%), male gender as many as 39 people (27.86%) with various levels of age, education, employment and income. The age of the respondent's child is dominant in the range of 5-10 years, namely 72 people (51.43%), and aged 16-20 years the least (4 people (2.86%)). The results of the empathy aspect score show the results of respondents strongly agreeing (77.86%), the participation aspect shows the results of respondents strongly agreeing (60.72%) and the assertive aspect shows the results of respondents agreeing (65%), all three of which are in the moderate category. From this study, it is expected that there is a need for socialisation about the process of forming or teaching in children and adolescents and the role of the environment outside the family in the formation of social skills.","PeriodicalId":479229,"journal":{"name":"Asian Social Work Journal","volume":"34 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136105766","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most studies in Western countries reported that children of single-mother and single-father families perform academically lower than children of two-parent families. A phenomenological method of inquiry and analysis was used to explain the challenges and issues faced by students from single-parent households. In-depth interviews were conducted with five secondary school students at Klang Valley. The findings revealed that the students experienced five types of challenges: lack of parental guidance, grief of losing a parent, conflict between divorced parents, financial constraint, and societal perception. In overcoming the challenges, five strategies, which are talking to someone, listening to music, expressive writing, becoming more independent and feeling grateful were employed.","PeriodicalId":479229,"journal":{"name":"Asian Social Work Journal","volume":"184 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136232827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
