This is qualitative, cross-sectional and descriptive study. The present study included 33 volunteer mothers who gave birth vaginally for the first time, received care in the postpartum service, and breastfed their babies at least 10 times. To reveal the metaphors related to the concept of breastfeeding, each mother was asked to complete the sentence \"Breastfeeding is like… because….\" The perceptions of the mothers about breastfeeding were gathered under three main themes: positive, negative and neutral metaphors. The identified metaphors were divided into five categories: indescribable emotion, peace, healing, task and inflicting pain. The mothers produced more positive metaphors about breastfeeding.
","PeriodicalId":47836,"journal":{"name":"Health Care for Women International","volume":" ","pages":"58-72"},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"9602857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study has a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design. Participants were split into two groups: one undergoing the Nursing Pregnant Education and Counseling Program (n=30), and the other receiving standard clinical care(n=30). We found a significant difference in stress perception and coping scores between women in the intervention and control groups, favoring the intervention group. Moreover, we observed a notable rise in full-term deliveries in the experimental group, along with a decreased rate of complications for babies compared to the control group. Use of this program for high-risk pregnant women resulted in reductions in maternal stress, improved use of active coping strategies, and favorable impacts on birth outcomes.
","PeriodicalId":47836,"journal":{"name":"Health Care for Women International","volume":" ","pages":"604-624"},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143528107","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The experimental group participants (n = 37) received two informative video visits for contraceptive counseling, while the women in the control group (n = 40) received routine face-to-face Family Planning Services at their primary health care center. Despite this, little is known about where in the health care system these delays occur or why they occur. Our review is the first attempt to synthesize and analyze this international evidence. A systematic scoping review with a pre-specified protocol incorporated the literature on diagnostic delay for endometriosis using the social-ecological theoretical framework. Four databases (PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, PsychINFO) were searched from inception to September 2023. The search yielded 403 studies, 23 of which met the inclusion criteria. Most were from high-income country researchers. The average diagnostic delay reported across studies was 6.8 years (range 1.5-11.4 years) but this masked the very wide differences reported between countries. Considering the impact on individuals and the health system, addressing diagnostic delay for endometriosis must remain a priority for researchers, health care providers and policy makers.
","PeriodicalId":47836,"journal":{"name":"Health Care for Women International","volume":" ","pages":"335-351"},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142477792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The participants with a mean age of 48.8 ± 5.08 generally defined chronic pain intensity as moderate pain (x̅=7.17, sd = 2.01). There was a weak positive relationship between chronic pain intensity and the worrying dimension, one of the passive coping strategies, and a weak negative relationship with the retreating dimension. A weak negative relationship was identified between chronic pain intensity and pain beliefs levels, both organic beliefs and psychological beliefs sub-dimensions. The multivariate model identified by regression analysis explained 21.2% of the total chronic pain intensity variance. We aimed to explore women's empowerment and gender equality in public health systems and identify proactive enablers that can be incorporated into projects. A systematic review of peer-reviewed literature as well as text analysis were conducted to examine changes in perceptions of women's roles in public health projects. The authors conducted a quantitative analysis of the collected article titles, which revealed a shift in research from identifying risk factors to exploring women's autonomy in health promotion. However, our qualitative review of the articles showed that previous gender-related projects used a gender-sensitive approach that perpetuated the view of women as victims or beneficiaries rather than enablers.
