In this study, the authors aimed to analyze the use of the Da Vinci robotic surgery system for managing benign gynecologic conditions from 2019 to 2023, focusing on preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative outcomes. A total of 50 patients were included, of whom 33 (66%) were obese (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2). The most common procedures performed were hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (n = 25, 50%) and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (n = 15, 30%). Conversion to laparotomy occurred in only one patient (2%) due to severe adhesions. A positive correlation was observed between higher uterine weight and longer operative time; however, it was not statistically significant (n = 31, R = 0.309, p = 0.091). In the subgroup analysis, obesity did not significantly affect perioperative outcomes. Overall, robotic surgery demonstrated technical feasibility and safety for patients with benign gynecologic conditions.
","PeriodicalId":47836,"journal":{"name":"Health Care for Women International","volume":" ","pages":"1-13"},"PeriodicalIF":0.9,"publicationDate":"2026-01-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"145935591","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data were collected using a sociodemographic questionnaire, the City Birth Trauma Scale (CityBiTS), and the Postpartum Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale-Short Form. The mean age of participants was 28.7 years. The authors' findings indicated a moderate negative association between perceived traumatic birth and breastfeeding self-efficacy (r = -0.459, p < .001). Higher levels of perceived traumatic birth were more commonly reported among women who experienced routine obstetric interventions. By performing a synthesis of qualitative research, the researchers identified five key themes shaping WOC's experiences of IPV: patriarchy and traditional gender norms, systemic racism and xenophobia, lack of cultural inclusion and safety, social needs, and healing through culture, spirituality, and community. Our findings suggest developing clinical models to meet the needs of this diverse population by addressing both the cultural and systemic factors that contribute to their experiences of IPV. Clinical practice can adapt to these challenges by fostering inclusivity and cultural competence to better support WOC victim-survivors of IPV, mitigate the harmful impacts of IPV, and promote pathways for healing. Future researchers must focus on developing culturally sensitive models that consider cultural background and reflect the complexity of IPV experiences for WOC.
","PeriodicalId":47836,"journal":{"name":"Health Care for Women International","volume":" ","pages":"3-30"},"PeriodicalIF":0.9,"publicationDate":"2026-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144286754","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To contribute to furthering the global understanding of IPV, we examined Jordanian women's experiences through structured interviews. Thirty women who experienced moderate-to-severe levels of emotional abuse were interviewed to share their lived experiences. Using thematic analysis, two major themes of emotional abuse were identified: risk factors and consequences, with subthemes including personal experiences, physical and mental health, outside influences, and impacts on children. Our results underscore the cultural awareness that may resonate with women's experiences in other regions facing similar structural and gendered inequities.
