However, for survivors with strong religious affiliations, social workers are not the only actors involved. This study aimed to retrospectively explore the help-seeking experience of Ultraorthodox survivors of intimate partner violence who received help from social workers and rabbis. Findings suggest that social workers should acknowledge the care barriers connected to child outcomes and that rabbis may not be the preferred source of care unless they possess a good background in family matters.","PeriodicalId":47606,"journal":{"name":"International Social Work","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2025-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144236799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Focusing on south-to-south migration and the gendered experiences of caregiving women, it addresses a significant gap in the literature. Findings reveal unique challenges such as acculturation stress, economic hardships, limited social support, and mental health issues exacerbated by marginalization due to caregiving roles. Practice implications for social work and policy include culturally competent interventions and the design of supportive policies tailored to migrant mothers’ needs.","PeriodicalId":47606,"journal":{"name":"International Social Work","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2025-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143979335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through a qualitative lens, the study found out that over 60s are primarily surviving through peasant farming and support from family. Traditional healing is a source of income and economic capability and support from development partners. The article implicates social workers to be advocates for sustainable livelihoods support and strengthen endogenous social protection. Improved social protection coverage spearheaded by social workers and protection of the elderly against harmful practices, and genuine commitment and collaboration toward the livelihoods of the rural old aged are key.","PeriodicalId":47606,"journal":{"name":"International Social Work","volume":"34 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2025-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143933460","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But do they? This scoping review of the impact of human rights-based approaches yielded 34 geographically diverse studies, reviewed according to three key categories: commitment to human rights instruments and legal advocacy, policy and program outcomes, and community action and organization. Commitment to a human rights-based approach appeared to have a stronger impact when integrated into domestic legislation, result in positive policy and programming outcomes, and potentially contribute to empowerment when incorporated into community action and organization.","PeriodicalId":47606,"journal":{"name":"International Social Work","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2025-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143932542","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recommendations are included to aid social service organizations in the creation of online data privacy practices.","PeriodicalId":47606,"journal":{"name":"International Social Work","volume":"12 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2025-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143915994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Excessive death, lockdowns and social policy change had immediate and long-term national and global implications. Attention has been given to the immediate consequences, including its disproportionate impact on parts of society such as older people, “black” and “ethnic minorities”, and migrants. This raises questions for social work about wider enduring lessons including social inequality and globalisation. Reflecting across three countries, we encourage debate on future professional lessons, recognising constraints the pandemic has imposed and the dilemma of relying on historical precedents, of which we now find we have none.","PeriodicalId":47606,"journal":{"name":"International Social Work","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2025-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143910556","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
