The sampled male specimen, with a total length of 27.5 cm and a weight of 459.20 g, aligns with known size patterns observed in the Black Sea, suggesting a consistent trend. The unexpected presence of the species in the Sea of Marmara raises intriguing questions about its potential spread in the broader Mediterranean Sea basin. The adaptability of the Sebastes schlegelii to diverse environmental conditions underscores its ecological resilience. The study emphasizes the need for careful monitoring and management due to potential threats posed by invasive species, especially considering the vulnerabilities of the Sea of Marmara to climate change","PeriodicalId":475820,"journal":{"name":"Journal of anatolian environmental and animal sciences","volume":"238 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140443288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Kasım 2022'de, Tersakan Çayı (Samsun, Türkiye)'ndan elektroşok cihazı kullanılarak Barbus tauricus, Capoeta tinca, Abramis brama, Alburnoides kurui, Scardinius erythrophthalmus ve Squalius cephalus olmak üzere 6 balık türünü ait toplam 120 örnek yakalandı. Her bir örneğin total boyu ölçüldü, lagenar ve utrikular otolitleri çıkarıldı. Asteriskusun distal ve proksimal tarafları ile lapillusun dorsal ve ventral yüzeyleri taramalı elektron mikroskobu ile fotoğraflandı. Morfolojik analizlerde sadece sağ otolitler kullanıldı. Çalışılan türlerinin tamamında, asteriskuslar lapilluslardan daha büyüktü. Utrikular otolitlerin lagenar otolitlere göre daha fazla fenotipik karaktere sahip olduğu gözlendi. Bununla birlikte, daha kesin tür teşhisi için her iki otolit tipinin tüm morfolojik karakterlerinin birleştirilmesi önerildi. Bu çalışma, Türkiye'nin endemik iki balığı olan Alburnoides kurui ve Capoeta tinca'nın otolit morfolojisi üzerine ilk referansdır.","PeriodicalId":475820,"journal":{"name":"Journal of anatolian environmental and animal sciences","volume":"35 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139960573","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The radiation shielding effect of concrete samples was determined using the EGS4 code. By contrasting the outcomes with XCOM data, theoretical discussion was conducted. At gamma ray energies between 59.5 and 1332 keV, the mass attenuation coefficients (μ/ρ) of concrete samples mixed with fly ash were theoretically investigated using WinXCOM and EGS4. Then, several shielding parameters, including mean free path (MFP), half value layer (HVL), radiation protection efficiency (RPE), effective atomic number (Zeff), and gamma-ray kerma coefficients (kγ), were found using the mass attenuation coefficients. It has been noted that the parameters governing radiation shielding performance of concrete samples used as building materials are altered when cement is reduced and fly ash is substituted.","PeriodicalId":475820,"journal":{"name":"Journal of anatolian environmental and animal sciences","volume":"9 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140494694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different microbes including bacteria, fungi, and algae were used to decolorize the different dyes. Up to 10% of dyes used in the textile industry are eliminated as colored wastewater after being applied and are not bonded to the fibers. These colored wastewaters must be properly cleaned before being dumped into different bodies of water. The objective of variety search is to identify the factor combination with the highest desirability combination. Desirability functions are frequently employed in RSM optimization.
 Four bacterial biomasses have been tested for their capacity to decolorize dyes in this study. Screening studies included four distinct biomasses and four distinct reactive dyes. The bacterial strain #288 has a biosorption with 70% on Reactive Violet 1. Central composite design was employed to maximize the biosorption percentage and biosorption capacity. At the result of the study, Reactive Violet 1 was adsorbed by #288 with 93,7% and the biosorption capacity was estimated to be 325,7. FTIR and SEM were used to characterize the biomass before and after decolorization. The outcome demonstrates that #288 is effective in removing Reactive Violet 1 from textile wastewaters.","PeriodicalId":475820,"journal":{"name":"Journal of anatolian environmental and animal sciences","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135889475","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three stations were chosen to carry out our mission. The sample collection process took place between November 2019 and May 2020. We focused on pH levels, dissolved oxygen, total dissolved solids, salinity, conductivity values, and trace elements (Ag, Al, Ba, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Li, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sr, and Zn) concentrations. Trace element analysis was done using an ICP-OES. Trace element concentrations were as follows: Ag (0.4 mg/l), Al (0.47 mg/l), Cu (0.82 mg/l), Li (0.81 mg/l), Pb (0.065 mg/l), and Sr (8.06 mg/l). Meanwhile, Ba, Cd, Co, Cr, Fe, Mn, and Ni levels were below the measurable limits. Our results are generally high when compared with the literature. Industrial pollution sources (cement, metallurgy, iron and steel industries, electric arc furnaces (EAF-Steel), coal combustion residuals (CCRs), and petrol refineries) all cause marine pollution because they leak trace elements into the sea, which consequently accumulate over time.","PeriodicalId":475820,"journal":{"name":"Journal of anatolian environmental and animal sciences","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135198574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
