The first step of the study was planned as the plant adaptation phase, and no fish were added to the environment. In the second step, fish was introduced. The third step was designed to determine the adsorbent mixture's plant nutrient storage capacity (effective usage period). In the experimental aquariums, no plant nutrient or fertiliser other than fish food was used at all stages. The effects and using duration on the growth of the Vallisneria sp plant of adsorbed nutrients from unconsumed feed by leonardite and zeolite mixture were investigated in three stages in aquarium condition. Trial groups were formed by adding the adsorbent mixture of the feed having a 40% protein value to the first group (G1), the adsorbent mixture of the feed having a 33% protein value to the second group (G2), and the adsorbent mixture without feed to the third group (G3). \u0000When the SGR values at the end of the experiment were compared, there was no statistical difference between the G1 and G2 groups, which contained 40% and 33% protein (P>0.05). However, it has expanded its range into the Black Sea, including the Turkish coastal waters. Blue crab specimens were sampled along the Black Sea coast of Türkiye, covering the stretch from Cape Taşkana to the Georgian border. The monitoring studies spanned the period from 2017 to 2024. Analysis of the 16 specimens revealed a carapace width range of 14.8 to 20.3 cm, with males exhibiting larger sizes compared to females. Notably, two of the sampled females were observed to be carrying eggs, highlighting reproductive activity in the region. This study also reports the discovery of the largest blue crab ever recorded on the Turkish coasts of the Black Sea, with a male specimen measuring 20.33 cm in carapace width and weighing 565.1 g. Additionally, a male specimen sampled in the Rize region suggests the species has expanded its range to the easternmost part of the Black Sea. The findings contribute significantly to our understanding of the distribution and growth potential of the blue crab in the Black Sea. The larger sizes observed in males and the presence of ovigerous females indicate successful adaptation and potential establishment of a self-sustaining population. As invasive species, blue crabs can significantly influence benthic communities and food chains, highlighting the importance of a prudent management approach to fisheries biology and ecosystem management","PeriodicalId":475820,"journal":{"name":"Journal of anatolian environmental and animal sciences","volume":" 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140219546","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, differential leukocyte percentages, nuclear abnormalities, and erythrocyte morphology abnormalities of Testudo hermanni populations distributed in two different habitat types in the Thrace Region were determined to whether habitats have a potential genotoxicological effect. A total of 37 tortoise specimens, 18 from an open habitat in Kırklareli/Karakoç, and 19 from an isolated habitat in Edirne/Keşan were studied. According to the results obtained from the Micronucleus Test, which detects genotoxic damage, there was no statistically significant difference between the two habitats. There were statistically significant differences in erythrocyte morphology abnormalities between two populations, such as frequencies of anucleated erythrocyte, nuclear shift and elliptical shape distortion. There were correlations between body sizes and other parameters. This study was carried out in tea plantation areas in Artvin, Rize and Trabzon provinces from july to october in the second and third harvesting periods of 2023. Tea leaves were collected from the field by random sampling method by determining 3 districts from each province two times per month (Artvin; Sarp, Hopa Arhavi, Rize; Ardeşen, Çayeli, Derepazarı, Trabzon; Of, Sürmene 1, Sürmene 2). As a result of our study, it was determined that Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Acari: Tarsonemidae), the most common species, exceeded the economic damage threshold in all months and in all locations. Especially in the samples collected from Sarp region in September, the number of mites per leaf was recorded as 116,73. Brevipalpus phoenicis (Prostigmata: Tenuipalpidae) was detected as a second most common species and found at exceeded EDT in all months in the Sarp region. The same situation was observed in Çayelin in September. Both mite species that exceeded economic damage threshold (yellow tea mite and flat mite) were most frequently observed in september. Within this scope, areas with high cultural value were identified, and 7 tourism classifications were made (Sports Tourism, Gastronomy Tourism, Art Tourism, Festival Tourism, Scientific Tourism, Fair Tourism, Religious and Holiday Tourism), and a cultural route was created for each class. Cultural routes based on tourism classifications were examined, taking into account their locations, route lengths, and usage durations. Seven different cultural route proposals were mapped and presented. Based on the obtained data, the longest routes were 24.7 km for Religious and Holiday Tourism route (including tombs, madrasahs, mosques, etc.), 23 km for Sports Tourism Route (including winter tourism areas, etc.) and Art Tourism Route (including cultural centers, museums, squares, etc.). The study aims to contribute to a better understanding of the city's history and culture by tourists through different routes. These routes will support cultural sustainability and contribute to sustainable development goals. Along with the rise in cases and reports from different salterns in recent years, the prevalence of Artemia cestode parasitism has also grown. Flamingolepis liguloides eggs are consumed by Artemia and transform into cysticercoids which mature into adult worms in the final host, flamingos. We described the first investigation of cestode parasitism in the natural populations of Artemia parthenogenetica from the Ayvalık saltwork (Balıkesir, Türkiye) in this study. A total of 965 A. parthenogenetica were examined and 320 of them had F. liguloides infection. The overall prevalence was estimated to be 33.2%. Most of the parasites were found in the abdomen and intestinal tract of A. parthenogenetica. Parasitism intensity ranged from 1 to 4 per individual, with a maximum of 4 cysticercoids detected in a single Artemia sample. To understand the influence of parasitism on Artemia populations and the transmission of species, it is important to establish Artemia parasitism in the saltwork. This initial report from the Ayvalık saltwork provides information on the infestation of F. liguloides in Artemia; therefore, the interactions between the saltworks’ species should be investigated in depth.","PeriodicalId":475820,"journal":{"name":"Journal of anatolian environmental and animal sciences","volume":"11 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140252452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
