Health seeking behavior is also applied by the Puger community, which is a southern coastal area in Jember Regency, although based on a preliminary study not a few of them ignore their health problems. This type of research is a quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. A sample of 110 respondents was taken by simple random sampling from a population of 5247 fishermen and domiciled in Mandaran Hamlet and Krajan Hamlet, Puger Wetan Village, Puger District, Jember Regency. The resulting data were tested using logistic regression. The result showed that trust has a significant effect with p <α value of 0.000 <0.05. Someone who has a belief in modern medicine tends to have a 21.333 greater influence in determining treatment seeking behavior compared to respondents who have a belief in traditional medicine. Suggestions need to be explored more deeply in each type of belief in fisherman's health seeking behavior using qualitative methods.and health promotion on safe treatment seeking behavior for fisherman's health.","PeriodicalId":474643,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Islamic and Complementary Medicine","volume":"165 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136378394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Good behavior, constructive, and harmony with others are influenced by the individual's ability to control himself. Self-control that is well-developed in individuals will help individuals resist behavior contrary to social norms. Self-control is an individual's ability to inhibit or prevent an impulse from appearing in the form of behavior that violates or is contrary to moral standards. Self-control as organizing, guiding, regulating, and directing forms of behavior that can lead individuals to positive consequences. According to the researcher, istighfar is suitable for the client because of the meaning of asking for forgiveness from all mistakes. The problem experienced by the client is one of the mistakes, namely (cursing at his friends). This Istighfar also mentions that God is the best of human guardians. Someone asks forgiveness from Allah and asks for protection and care to protect him from bad and despicable traits. Istighfar is very important for humans. Not only because humans have a more excellent opportunity to sin, but also because Allah SWT repeatedly commands both through His words in the Qur'an and the mouth of His messenger (Rasulullah SAW).","PeriodicalId":474643,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Islamic and Complementary Medicine","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136378392","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is believed to have health benefits and is recommended for healing. One hadith state: There are three remedies for healing: cupping, drinking honey, and cauterizing with fire. But I forbid my followers from cauterizing with fire (Narrated by Bukhari). Based on this hadith, cupping therapy is considered beneficial for health and treatment. The aim of this study is determining the effect of cupping therapy on hemoglobin levels in smokers and non-smokers. This study employed a quantitative research design with an observational approach using a one-time pretest and posttest without control group design. The research sample was obtained through simple random sampling and consisted of 30 individuals, including smokers and non-smokers. Primary data were collected directly from the cupping therapy procedure, while secondary data were obtained from physical examinations of the respondents. There is no effect of cupping therapy on hemoglobin levels in smokers and non-smokers.","PeriodicalId":474643,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Islamic and Complementary Medicine","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136378396","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Stress can cause a disruption to the body's homeostasis system. Monday-Thursday fasting can be used to counter the negative effects of stress by inhibiting stress mediators pathways. This study aims to prove that monday-thursday fasting can maintain working memory function after getting acute stress. This study was quasi experimental with post test only control group design in 124 medical students of Sebelas Maret University, aged 18-25 years, normal BMI, and not taking corticosteroid or psychopharmaceutical drugs. Samples were taken by purposive sampling method divided into 4 groups. The control did not get treatment, treatment group 1 (TG1) was given acute stress induction in the form of academic examinations, sing a song stress test (SSST), and arithmetic test, treatment group 2 (TG2) carried out fasting at least 3 months and was given acute stress induction. Dependent variables are Monday-thursday fasting and acute stressors in the form of nominal categorical data. Independent variables in the form of working memory measured using digit-span tests in the form of numerical-interval data. Measurements of working memory were carried out simultaneously in the tutorial room after each group received treatment. Working memory data were analyzed by MANOVA and Bonferroni tests (a = 0.05).\u0000The highest working memory is found in TG2 followed by control, and TG1. The results of the MANOVA test showed significant differences between the four groups with p = 0,000. The Bonferroni test results show significant differences between the control-TG1 and TG1-TG2 with each p <0.05. Fasting on Mondays-Thursdays activity can maintain a working memory function when the body gets acute stress.","PeriodicalId":474643,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Islamic and Complementary Medicine","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136378391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the results of a survey conducted by researchers in January 2022, the percentage of the Nuruzholam Taklim congregation who practice self-medication or self-medication is 69%. The use of over-the-counter and over-the-counter medicines was limited by 63%, which kept the medicine 57% and 58.7% disposed of the medicine incorrectly. The CBIA (Community Based Interactive Approach) program can be a solution to existing problems. CBIA is one of the community empowerment activities that can be used to educate the wider community about the selection and use of drugs that are suitable for self-medication or the use of over-the-counter drugs and limited over-the-counter drugs or those included in OTC (over-the-counter) (Bela & Suryawati, 2016). This study aims to determine the knowledge and skills of using drugs and to determine the effect of applying the CBIA method to increase knowledge about drugs in the Majelis Taklim Nuruzholam. This research method is quantitative research with Quasi-Experimental Design, one-group pretest-posttest. Sampling using purposive sampling method obtained 60 respondents who have met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Analysis of the data used is statistical test paired t-test and get a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05, indicating a significant difference between the pretest-posttest values. One of the top 10 causes of death is non-communicable disease, and diabetes mellitus is on the list. Genetics, advanced age, obesity, stress, hypertension, smoking, and physical inactivity are risk factors that might result in diabetes mellitus. Despite advancements in mainstream anti-diabetic treatment, traditional medical practices continue to exist in several nations. Syzygium polyanthum is the herb that diabetic patients most frequently utilize in the traditional therapy of their illness, according to research on diabetic patients at the Health Community Center in Sering, Medan, Indonesia. The research team was interested in figuring out whether bay leaves showed any potential as an anti-diabetic agent based on the previous description. In this study, secondary literature from research publications is used in a literature review with a descriptive method. Several studies have suggested that bay leaves could potentially be used for the prevention and treatment of diabetes mellitus.","PeriodicalId":474643,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Islamic and Complementary Medicine","volume":"2 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136378395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
