So, assessing knowledge and practice of ICU nurses is baseline to improve well-being of intubated patients. Aim : This study aimed to assess the nurses' knowledge and practice regarding infection control measures in endotracheal intubated children. Method : A descriptive cross-sectional study design was utilized in this study. Setting : This study was conducted at Mansoura University Children's Hospital (MUCH) on convenience sample of nurses (N= 98) 38 nurses in Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and 60 nurses in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Tools : Two tools were used to collect data as the following : Nurse's knowledge structured interview questionnaire sheet and Observational checklist. Results: The overall total knowledge score revealed that (62.2%) of nurses showed a good score level of knowledge with a mean of 26.5(4.5). A few percentages of nurses had proper perform hand hygiene,oral care, patient monitoring and suctioning (12.2%, 4.1%, 1%, and 2% respectively). Moreover there was significant relation between nurses' years of experience and total knowledge score. While there was no significant relation between total nurses' knowledge and practice Conclusion: Although nurses had good score level of knowledge, they had inadequate practice regarding infection control measures in endotracheal intubated children. Recommendation: Continuous educational programs to keep nurses in intensive care units updated with the evidence based practices and carry interventions for reducing infection among endotracheal intubated children.","PeriodicalId":473325,"journal":{"name":"Mansoura Nursing Journal (Print)","volume":"105 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134884717","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study aimed to assess nurses' knowledge, and performance regarding prevention of open heart surgery site infection. This conducted through a cross-sectional study design, on 77 nurses enrolled conveniently from Open Heart Surgery Unit, Mansoura University Hospitals, Egypt. Data was collected by using nurses' knowledge assessment self-administrated questionnaire and nurses' performance observational checklist. The main findings illustrated that 45.5% of nurses had poor total score level of knowledge (< 60.00 – 69.99), and 41.6% of them had expert total score level of performance (75 - < 85%). The researcher concludes that less than half of nurses have poor total knowledge score, and more than three-fourths of them have total expert, and proficient performance scores levels regarding the prevention of open-heart SSI. Accordingly, the following are recommended: continuous on job education programs should be provided for all nurses to enhance their knowledge and performance about prevention of open heart SSI, as well, further research are needed to explore factors that contribute to nurses' adherence to preventive measures of open-heart SSI.","PeriodicalId":473325,"journal":{"name":"Mansoura Nursing Journal (Print)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134882298","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Achieving competency in this area is a complex undertaking that is reflected in disparities between ‘best EBP’ and actual clinical care. The effective development and implementation of professional education to facilitate EBP remains a major and immediate challenge. Therefore, healthcare professionals (HCP) must become expert resources for patient. The study aimed to assess views of healthcare professionals toward designing web-based module for teaching evidence-based practice. Methodology: A phenomenological study design was used through focus group discussions using a semi-structured interview guide. Thematic content analysis was carried out following coding and analyzing content. Recurrent, emerging and diverging views were identified and represented under themes. All discussions were recorded and transcribed verbatim. Results: Focus groups were conducted with HCP. Two main themes and eight subthemes were identified. Participants expressed their views about EBP approach components and made suggestions for EBP module design. The study revealed that most of participants are interested in obtaining knowledge about the concept and steps of EBP.
