Data were collected from a purposive sample of African American emerging adults (N = 148) who resided in St. Louis, Missouri. Descriptive, univariate, and multiple linear regression analyses assessed RBTS symptom severity and its relationship with various coping behaviors, controlling for sociodemographic factors like age, income, and employment. The study revealed that anger, avoidance, and intrusive thoughts were common RBTS symptoms, with average scores for these symptoms ranging from 48.2 to 49.4. Income was found to be a significant predictor of coping strategies, particularly religious coping and substance use, suggesting that socioeconomic factors influence how African American men manage RBTS. Findings highlight the critical need for culturally relevant mental health interventions that incorporate economic and coping dimensions to support African American men effectively. A bias-adjusted three-step latent class analysis was used to estimate latent class measurement models; classify cases into the optimal class solution; and, using a maximum likelihood method, test the association between demographic and behavioral health covariates with class membership. Results show that the four-class solution was optimal. The largest class (35.44%) had high probability of endorsing each personality difficulty and had high rates of behavioral health disorders. The second class (26.51%) had higher levels of antisocial traits and greater probability of endorsing substance use disorders relative to third and fourth classes. The third-largest class showed minimal personality difficulties (24.40%) and had the lowest probability of meeting criteria for each behavioral health disorder considered. The final class showed high levels of relational instability and identity diffusion (13.65%) and had higher levels of mood and anxiety disorders and suicide attempt relative to second and third classes. To fill this gap, this article describes the development and initial validation of a new instrument designed to measure distress and impaired functioning related to work-related secondary trauma exposure. The Secondary Trauma Impact Scale (STIS) is a brief screening measure consisting of six items, each measuring a different domain of distress and impairment. Domains include social, occupational, familial, sexual, psychological, and physical functioning. Secondary analysis was conducted on data collected from 577 master's-level social workers for a previously reported study. Results strongly support the reliability and factorial, convergent, and discriminant validity of the STIS. Ten focus group discussions were held with 36 students of South Asian origin at a university on the West Coast of the United States. Thematic analysis was performed on the focus group data. Three main themes emerged from the data: (1) intersectionality of gender with other factors that affect healthcare decision making, (2) impact of gender on health, and (3) coping strategies. Participants reported preferential treatment for boys versus girls, vesting decision-making control among males, worse health among females, and coping strategies. A few responses indicated that power differentials in some families were shifting to a more egalitarian balance between males and females. Aspects such as age, employment, and language barriers intersected with gender to create a complex web of influence on healthcare decision making. The study has implications for social workers to offer culturally responsive support to South Asian youth in the United States, paying attention to the intersectionalities when working with them. Twenty-one SOC participated in focus groups where they described their experiences with antiracism education. Several key themes were identified: (a) finding community through affinity groups, (b) SOC interactions with White students, (c) differentiating internalized racism and anti-Black racism, (d) the impact of White instructors and the lack of mentors and supervisors of color, (e) microaggressions and incidents of racism, and (f) taking up space. As this is an exploratory study, authors make recommendations for social work schools to pilot in the future. To help social workers fulfill this obligation, this study explored the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people regarding their interactions with people outside the LGBTQ+ community, and what LGBTQ+ people desire for future interactions. Narrative interviews were conducted with 11 LGBTQ+ social work graduate students and alumni to explore (a) their self-reported experiences engaging in one-on-one and small group interactions with outgroup members throughout their lives and (b) the meaning they gleaned from their life experiences across various domains (e.g., work, family, education) that might improve future interactions. Analysis produced six storylines that can be summarized as (1) unbalanced depictions of difference, (2) avoiding interactions, (3) managing positive treatment of an identity, (4) restricting certain perspectives, (5) focusing on differences, and (6) the importance of seeing humanity.
