In this study, a survey was conducted among 45 Korean Spanish teachers to analyze their perceptions and determine the current status of and improvement points for teaching culture in Korean secondary Spanish education during the transition period before the full implementation of the 2022 Revised National Curriculum in 2025. The teachers answered closed-ended questions about the need to teach culture, methods of teaching culture, the contents of culture teaching, and their evaluation of the three goals of the Spanish curriculum, as well as open-ended questions about defining intercultural competence and suggesting improvements for teaching culture in Spanish classrooms. Through this analysis, it was possible to confirm teachers’ perceptions of the problems and areas for improvement in teaching culture in Spanish education and to suggest directions for development.","PeriodicalId":471528,"journal":{"name":"Seu'pein eo'munhag","volume":"164 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135038992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Spanish settlers(pobladores) migrated north, establishing farms, ranches, mines, fortifications(presidio), and mission camps(misión), and at the same time the area became catholicized and spanishized, with a mixture of race and culture. Thus, Norte became part of Nueva España. It was also through this road that the message of the colonial authorities was transmitted and implemented to the northernmost Nuevo México. Consequently, the CRTA meant the expansion of colonial administrative boundaries. As such, the road played an importante role in the expansion of colonial rule from Mesoamerica to Norte. In addition, Norte was the farthest boundary of Nueva España and the region of the Americas where the European powers had the most intense territorial competition. For this reason, the CRTA was of strategic importance in terms of defending the territorial sovereignty of the Spanish colonies. Thus, it can be said that the colonization of Nueva España was consolidated along this path.","PeriodicalId":471528,"journal":{"name":"Seu'pein eo'munhag","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135038288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
{"title":"The use of the imperfect subjunctive in the Spanish of Lima","authors":"Kyounglai Kim","doi":"10.21811/eh.108.9","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21811/eh.108.9","url":null,"abstract":"This study has the purpose of describing the uses of the imperfect subjunctive in modern Spanish. To carry out this work, the corpus of Lima, Peru, offered by PRESEEA, is used. All the forms of the imperfect subjunctive found in the corpus were first classified into two large groups: independent sentences and dependent sentences. 26 cases were found in which the imperfect subjunctive appears in independent sentences and 107 cases in which the imperfect subjunctive appears in substantive, adjective and circumstantial subordinate clauses. Through the analysis it has been shown that, like other Latin American countries, the form '-ra' is predominant in the Spanish of Lima. The '-se' form has not completely disappeared but its use is quite limited. It was also found that in the Spanish of Lima the imperfect subjunctive is used in some contexts, a use that is not recommended in other varieties of modern Spanish.","PeriodicalId":471528,"journal":{"name":"Seu'pein eo'munhag","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135038986","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
