This research aims to study the effects of toxic leadership dimensions (abusive supervision, authoritarianism, narcissism, self-promotion and unpredictability) on followers’ work motivation by using Self-Determination Theory to approach work motivation. Angola faces significant social development challenges that are dependent upon the quality of leadership. Two hundred and nineteen people, aged 30 and 65 years, participated in this research from Angolan organizations in different industry sectors. The Toxic Leadership Scale and Multidimensional Work Motivation Scale were used. Correlation and regression analyses were performed. The narcissism dimension of toxic leadership and the identified regulation of work motivation had the highest scores. Leaders’ narcissism was positively correlated with external material and introjected motivation; self-promotion with introjected and intrinsic motivation. All dimensions of toxic leadership were positively correlated with amotivation. Finally, abusive supervision negatively predicts introjected regulation, and narcissism predicts positively material regulation of work motivation. These relationships were interpreted as the effect of toxic leadership dimensions on work motivation dimensions. Leadership development programs should focus on preventing toxic leadership in order to positively impact the followers’ autonomous regulation.","PeriodicalId":47141,"journal":{"name":"Universitas Psychologica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2024-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140723645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Participaron 252 pacientes con esquizofrenia en tratamiento ambulatorio (116 Aymara y 136 No Aymara) con un promedio de edad de 35.6 años (DE = 12.5) de centros públicos de salud mental de Arica, Chile (33.6 %), Tacna, Perú (33.6 %) y La Paz, Bolivia (32.8 %) y el cuidador principal. Se entrevistó respecto a sus contactos de búsqueda de ayuda utilizando un cuestionario semiestructurado. El 64.7 % de los pacientes contactó inicialmente a un médico general para solicitar ayuda, mientras que sólo el 14 % consultó a un psicólogo y el 12 % se refirió a Yatiri (curanderos). Los principales factores asociados al hecho de evitar una vía distinta fueron la presencia de un familiar o amigo de apoyo y la presencia de un médico general. Se concluye que la principal vía de acceso a los servicios psiquiátricos para pacientes con una reciente aparición de psicosis entre las minorías étnicas andinas es a través de un médico general, mientras que una pequeña parte de esta población depende de los curanderos de la comunidad.","PeriodicalId":47141,"journal":{"name":"Universitas Psychologica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2024-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140722665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Escasamente utilizada en nuestro idioma, esta teoría supone un marco teórico imprescindible, para comprender el envejecimiento y las diferencias individuales para hacer frente a las pérdidas inevitables y a las enfermedades relacionadas con la edad, considerándose actualmente un importante recurso de resiliencia en la vejez. El artículo comienza señalando que la vejez se quede al margen de la teoría del apego, para continuar exponiendo las características distintivas del apego en la vejez, la evolución de los estilos y las figuras de apego, y la importancia de los apegos simbólicos. La explicación muy actualizada del sustrato biológico del apego, permite comprender su enorme influencia en la salud y en los procesos de regulacion emocional y afrontamiento. Concluimos con la necesidad de investigar en nuestro idioma en esta área pionera de conocimiento para la prevención y promoción de un envejecimiento saludable.","PeriodicalId":47141,"journal":{"name":"Universitas Psychologica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2024-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140723995","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Para conocer el estado de la cuestión, se realizó una revisión sistemática de alcance de los estudios de evaluación de la intención emprendedora en estudiantes universitarios, pertenecientes a revistas científicas, extraídos de siete bases de datos y siguiendo las recomendaciones de la guía Prisma. De los 139 artículos revisados, la mayoría fueron publicados durante el último lustro y en países en vías de desarrollo, tuvieron muestras cercanas a los 1000 sujetos, una mayor utilización de técnicas de muestreo no probabilístico y una representación más elevada de mujeres y estudiantes de titulaciones de ciencias sociales y jurídicas. La teoría del comportamiento planeado y el modelo del evento emprendedor fueron los marcos teóricos más recurrentes. Las principales variables medidas fueron las normas subjetivas, el control conductual percibido, la autoeficacia y la actitud emprendedora. Además, se proporcionaron datos novedosos y actualizados, tales como las implicaciones para la educación y el emprendimiento de los estudios analizados (tipos de acciones formativas a implementar, contenidos a abordar en las mismas y actividades que podrían contener). Esto puede serle útil a los profesionales del área para guiar los procesos de diagnóstico de necesidades formativas relacionadas con la intención emprendedora y para el diseño de intervenciones que impulsen dicha intencionalidad y que enseñen cómo emprender.","PeriodicalId":47141,"journal":{"name":"Universitas Psychologica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2023-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44666256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore it is essential to know which factors influence social relationships in order to pinpoint those factors that put adolescents at risk, and to design strategies of prevention and intervention against school violence. This study evaluated 5,028 secondary education students aged 12-16 years old. A correlation was made among the variables of age, gender, school coexistence, and direct/indirect bullying of both the bully and the victim. In turn, a multiple regression analysis was performed to predict direct and/or indirect bullying on the part of the perpetrator and/or the victim. The results revealed the existence of significant relationships among those variables. We discuss these relationships and provide an intervention proposal to prevent aggressive behavior at schools. Several future research lines can be drawn.","PeriodicalId":47141,"journal":{"name":"Universitas Psychologica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2023-02-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45873206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
