In this work Taguchi method involves nine experiments groups for four processing parameters (compaction pressure, sintering temperature, binding material type, and oxide type) with three levels was implemented. The signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were employed to obtain the optimal process parameter levels and to analyze the effect of these parameters on density, electrical conductivity, hardness and compressive strength values. The results showed that all the chosen factors have significant effects on all properties of ODS tungsten heavy alloys samples. The density, electrical conductivity and hardness increases with the increase in sintering temperature. The analysis of the verification experiments for the physical properties (density and Electrical conductivity) has shown that Taguchi parameter design can successfully verify the optimal parameters, where the difference between the predicted and the verified values of relative density and electrical conductivity is about 1.01% and 1.15% respectively.","PeriodicalId":46242,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Materials Research-An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2017-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46054395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The FGM consists of a ceramic part (on the top), which is the hot side of the beam as the heat source motion takes place along this side, and a metal part (in the bottom), which is considered the cold side. Grading is in the transverse direction, with the properties being temperature-dependent. The main steps of the thermo-elastic modeling included deriving the partial differential equations for the temperatures and deflections in time and space, transforming them into ordinary differential equations using Laplace transformation, and finally using the inverse Laplace transformation to find the solutions. The effects of different parameters on the thermomechanical behavior of the beam are investigated, such as the convection coefficient and the heat source intensity and speed. The results show that temperatures, and hence the deflections and stresses increase with less heat convection from the beam surface, higher heat source intensity and low speeds.","PeriodicalId":46242,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Materials Research-An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2017-03-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49474653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The exact position of neutral axis is fixed, to eliminate the stretching and bending coupling due to the unsymmetrical material change along the FG nanobeams thickness. The material properties of FG beam are graded through the thickness on the basis of the power-law form, which is modified to approximate the material properties with two models of porosity phases. By employing Hamilton's principle, the nonlocal governing equations of FG nanobeams are obtained and solved analytically for simply-supported boundary conditions via the Navier-type procedure. Numerical results for deflection and buckling of FG nanoscale beams are presented and validated with those existing in the literature. The influences of small scale parameter, power law index, porosity distribution and slenderness ratio on the static and stability responses of the FG nanobeams are all explored.","PeriodicalId":46242,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Materials Research-An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43103574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Magneto electro mechanical properties of FGM plate are supposed to change through the thickness direction of plate. The rule of power-law is modified to consider influence of porosity according to two types of distribution namely even and uneven. Pores possibly occur inside FGMs due the result of technical problems that lead to creation of micro-voids in these materials. The variation of pores along the thickness direction influences the mechanical and physical properties. Four-variable tangential-exponential refined theory is employed to derive the governing equations and boundary conditions of porous FGM plate under magneto-electrical field via Hamilton’s principle. An analytical solution procedure is exploited to achieve the non-dimensional buckling load of porous FG plate exposed to magneto-electrical field with various boundary condition. A parametric study is led to assess the efficacy of material graduation exponent, coefficient of porosity, porosity distribution, magnetic potential, electric voltage, boundary conditions, aspect ratio and side-tothickness ratio on the non-dimensional buckling load of the plate made of magneto electro elastic FG materials with porosities. It is concluded that these parameters play remarkable roles on the dynamic behavior of porous MEE-FG plates. The results for simpler states are confirmed with known data in the literature. Presented numerical results can serve as benchmarks for future analyses of MEE-FG plates with porosity phases.","PeriodicalId":46242,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Materials Research-An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2016-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66389234","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By dividing the transverse displacement into bending, shear and thickness stretching parts, the number of unknowns and governing equations for the present theory is reduced, significantly facilitating engineering analysis. Indeed, the number of unknown functions involved in the present theory is only five, as opposed to six or even greater numbers in the case of other shear and normal deformation theories. The present theory accounts for both shear deformation and thickness stretching effects by a hyperbolic variation of ail displacements across the thickness and satisfies the stress-free boundary conditions on the upper and lower surfaces of the plate without requiring any shear correction factor. Equations of motion are derived from Hamiltonas principle. Analytical solutions for the bending and free vibration analysis are obtained for simply supported plates. The obtained results are compared with three-dimensional and quasi- three-dimensional solutions and those predicted by other plate theories. It can be concluded that the present theory is not \u0000only accurate but also simple in predicting the bending and free vibration responses of functionally graded plates.","PeriodicalId":46242,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Materials Research-An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66388459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compared to metal-to-metal tribology, polymer tribology presents further complexity as it is more prone to be influenced by operating conditions. Over the past two decades, progress in the field of wear of polymers has led to the establishment of more refined wear mechanisms. The current paper establishes the link between different load parameters and the wear rate of polymers, based on experimental investigations. A pin-on-plate reciprocating tribometer was used to examine the wear behaviour of polyamide sliding against a steel counterface, under constant and fluctuating loads, in dry conditions. In addition, the influence of controlled imperfections in the polymer surface upon its wear rate were examined, under cyclic and steady loading, in order to better understand surface fatigue wear of polymers. The imposed imperfections consisted of vertical artificial deep crack (slit) perpendicular or parallel to the direction of sliding. The study concludes with the followings findings; in general, wear of polymers shows a significant tendency to the type of applied load. Under cyclic loads, polymers show an increase in wear rate compared to those tested under static loads. Such increase was found to increase with the increase in cyclic load frequency. It is also demonstrated that surface cracks results in higher wear rates, particularly under cyclic loads.","PeriodicalId":46242,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Materials Research-An International Journal","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2016-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66388739","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
