{"title":"Development and Characterization of Niosomal Gel for Topical Delivery of Luliconazole","authors":"V. Chatur, S. Dhole","doi":"10.51847/z9ryi9cxu5","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.51847/z9ryi9cxu5","url":null,"abstract":"Luliconazole is a novel imidazole antibacterial candidate for treating fungal infections on the skin. Its current treatment is limited by extremely poor and sluggish skin absorption, necessitating long-term, repetitive dosing to cure the condition completely. Niosomes are becoming essential in medication delivery due to their potential to minimize toxicity and alter pharmacokinetics and bioavailability. Luliconazole niosomes were created utilizing a thin-film hydration process with varied ratios of non-ionic surfactants Span 40 and cholesterol to increase poor skin penetration and decrease adverse effects of topical traditional medication administration (CHO). The regular particle size of the Niosomal formulation was determined to be between 3 and 6.5 micrometers. The entrapment efficiency of the Niosomal formulation FN3 (1: 1) of cholesterol and Span 40 was excellent (88.56 percent). The Niosomal formulation was spherical using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). At (1: 1) cholesterol: Span 40 ratio, Niosomal formulation (FN3) showed a high proportion of drug release after 24 hours (79.87 percent). Furthermore, a chosen Niosomal formulation was employed to create a topical gel assessed in pH, viscosity, spreadability, and ex vivo research. In an ex vivo research, Niosomal gel outperformed regular topical gel in terms of skin permeability. These results showed that Niosomal gel has a high potential for use as a new, nanosized drug delivery medium for transdermal Luliconazole delivery.","PeriodicalId":46106,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharmaceutical Research and Allied Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70842256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Knowledge about the disease, attitudes toward disease prevention, and preventative practices can help curb the spread of disease and limit mortality as well. To determine knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) among a cohort of Saudi women who were either pregnant during the pandemic or pregnant at the time of data collection. A cross-sectional, prospective observational study using data collected via an online self-reported questionnaire was carried out between February 3 and March 14, 2021. The questionnaire ascertained the levels of knowledge, attitude, and practice of pregnant women. An ANOVA and t-test were used to determine significant associations between levels of KAP and sociodemographic variables. The average knowledge score was 10.4 +/- 2.85 out of 19 (54.7%);for attitudes, the average score was 3.4 +/- 1.61 out of 5 (68%);and for practices, the average score was 5.9 +/- 1.21 out of 7 (84.2%). Higher educational status and healthcare as a profession were significantly associated with improved KAP scores among pregnant women. Participants from the Western region of Saudi Arabia were heavily represented in our study. Pregnant women, especially those subgroups with low KAP scores, should be provided with adequate and updated information regarding COVID-19. This can help prevent the spread of disease and increase their knowledge, especially regarding breastfeeding practices during infection.","PeriodicalId":46106,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharmaceutical Research and Allied Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70828677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"The Role of Microparticles in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. An Updated Review","authors":"S. Almaghrabi","doi":"10.51847/eillcorjfq","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.51847/eillcorjfq","url":null,"abstract":"Microparticles (MPs) are vesicles of less than 1 mu m in diameter (submicron vesicles) shed from plasma membranes to cell activation, injury, and apoptosis response. They consisted of membrane proteins and cytosolic material from the cell they originated. These vesicles are vital mediators of pathological and physiological cellular processes. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a regular endocrine, menstrual and metabolic condition that affects 10-15% of females in their reproductive period. Numerous researches have described the association between low-grade chronic inflammation and PCOS;however, the relation is not well understood. Chronic lowgrade inflammation is reflected as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, and endothelial dysfunction, and it is linked to abdominal obesity and insulin resistance (IR). MPs may be useful biomarkers for the early detection of cardiovascular disease and thrombosis in PCOS patients. In March 2020, the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) became pandemic, wreaking havoc on healthcare systems worldwide and the global economy. Obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease have all been linked to COVID-19 increased risk of infection. PCOS patients have recently been identified as an underserved and potentially high-risk demographic for COVID-19 problems. This article tried to review and present recent studies that explored the role of microparticles in polycystic ovarian syndrome.","PeriodicalId":46106,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharmaceutical Research and Allied Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70819429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
