Gale — La segregation en Afrique occidentale britannique. Le paysage urbain des colonies britanniques d'Afrique occidentale etait assez generalement caracterise par la separation physique entre quartier indigene et poste administratif. Cette segregation de l'habitat est relativement tardive (debut du XXe siecle) et « justifiee », en depit de l'opposition de la plupart des gouverneurs, en vertu d'arguments sanitaires avances par les services medicaux qui pretendaient ainsi proteger la sante du personnel europeen. Cette politique de segregation, dont l'utilite sur le plan de la sante publique est douteuse, a eu des resultats negatifs sur le plan politique, en suscitant tres tot l'hostilite des Africains a qui on voulait l'appliquer.","PeriodicalId":45837,"journal":{"name":"CAHIERS D ETUDES AFRICAINES","volume":"20 80 1","pages":"495-507"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"1980-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70111853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
