This article describes attempts to produce a hot mix asphalt (HMA) mixture entirely from processed reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) material. Due to the binder ageing process, rejuvenating agent was a necessary additive to the mixture. The mixture was tested to determine its parameters, including the content of voids, fatigue life, rutting resistance, stiffness and water sensitivity. The test results demonstrated that the rejuvenated RAP mixture is not inferior to fresh produced mixtures in terms of physical and strength parameters. Such results are, however, conditional on appropriate handling of the RAP material.","PeriodicalId":45753,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Civil Engineering","volume":"66 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68944018","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

He determined the (non-flat) surface area in 3D by measuring random total projections. Analogously, he determined the length of a curved line in 2D by way of measuring the total projections. The paper will present the mathematical expressions, because in many branches of concrete technology, modelling is found based on such Cauchy concepts. These branches - fractography in compression, tension or shear, fibre reinforcement and permeability estimation - will briefly be mentioned to demonstrate this. It has been found that, for the discussed fields of engineering relevance, major model parameters for cementitious materials are similar to those developed by Cauchy in the 19th century. In the paper some previous investigations concerning fractography, fibre reinforcement and fracture roughness will be summarized but basically a new development on porosimetry will be presented. Particularly a new achievement of successful implementation of the methodology (also based on Cauchy) for optimizing permeability estimation will be discussed.","PeriodicalId":45753,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Civil Engineering","volume":"66 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68943521","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main concept for the executed investigations is to induce an intentional imperfection (both a concave and convex irregularity) in an actual railway track, propose a way of appropriate measurement (using the PONTOS system), and utilize author’s field investigations results to calibrate necessary parameters for theoretical calculations. An experimental formula describing the value of the force transferred from the rail to the railway sleeper on the grounds of the survey site caused by a locomotive is provided. Furthermore, the deflection of the chosen railway rail and sleeper due to the generated imperfection is subjected to analysis. Finally the objective of the present consideration is to resolve the calculations into the beam element such that the results can be used in computational railway practice. The scheme of the so-called a “hanging sleeper” is particularly unfavourable, a gap arises between the sleeper and the foundation, for which the significant changes appear, especially in the rail deflections and stresses. A work scheme of the railway track elements is described on the generated short concave and convex irregularity.","PeriodicalId":45753,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Civil Engineering","volume":"67 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68943936","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to study the influence of column’s cross-section form on the seismic performance of steel-glulam composite beam-to-column exterior joint, the column’s cross-section form was taken as the basic variable (glulam rectangular section , H-beam section and H-beam-glulam rectangular section were used respectively). The pseudo-static tests of three composite beam-to-column joints were carried out to observe the different failure modes, and obtain the mechanical performance indexes. The experiment results demonstrated that: The energy dissipation capacity of beam-to-column exterior joint composed of glulam column was the worst, the ultimate bearing capacity and stiffness were the lowest. The ultimate bearing capacity of the exterior joints formed by the H-beam column and the H-beam-glulam composite column were both high, and their ductility coefficients were similar, while the former had better energy dissipation capacity.","PeriodicalId":45753,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Civil Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68943980","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Static pressure, suction forces, and cyclic loads parallel to end plates (horizontal – to simulate wind influence) were applied in the study. The steel-aluminium brackets were tested on a reinforced concrete substrate made of C30/37 concrete class to simulate the real working conditions. Laboratory tests were performed to failure of the brackets or damage of anchoring fastened to the concrete elements. Additionally, the tensile capacity of stainless steel bolt connections screwed in aluminium profile was determined. The uniaxial tensile tests were performed for three length variants of the anchorage: 28 mm, 14 mm, and 7 mm of the stainless steel bars screw-in in threading aluminium profiles. In the course of cyclic tests, a hinge formed in the location of bolt connections made the change of the working character of steel-aluminium brackets. The cyclic tests also showed the danger of the strap aluminium profile displacement due to improper connection with the main aluminium profile. The paper is intended to provide scientists, civil engineers, and designers with an experimental assessment of mechanical properties of steel-aluminium brackets under static and cyclic loads.","PeriodicalId":45753,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Civil Engineering","volume":"64 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68944156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main problems affecting Ukraine are corruption, high level of opacity, inefficient use of resources and inefficient process management. Moreover, ineffective design and construction management reduce labor productivity and leads to reworks. Unfortunately, in Ukrainian construction industry most cases of rework have been accepted as a part of construction activities. Rework is one of the main factors in the growth of total costs and the excess of the schedule for the construction project. The problem of rework costs is important and needs to be studied more to alleviate these overruns in the future. However, rework data are usually quite difficult to obtain and most studies have been conducted in developed countries. It can be assumed that there is a greater probability of reworks and rework costs in developing countries than in the developed ones. Thus, the purpose of this article was to determine and systematize reworks factors, quantify amount of direct rework costs, determine the relationship between actual project costs, project duration variation and rework costs.","PeriodicalId":45753,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Civil Engineering","volume":"33 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135679644","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
