(Ericaceae) consists of shrubs or dwarf shrubs species widely distributed in Southeast Asia, America, and Europe. In the present paper, members of the genus (V. arctostaphylos, V. myrtillus, V. uliginosum, V. vitis-idaea) naturally grown in Northeast Anatolia were compared in terms of leaf venation, seed micromorphology, and palynological properties based on 16 populations in detail. Present findings revealed that number of areoles (the small area bounded by secondary veinlet) is 8–9 for V. arctostaphylos, 5–7 for V. myrtillus, 3–4 for V. uliginosum and V. vitis-idaea. Scanning electron microscope observation shows that the leaf adaxial surface is fiber-fluted in V. arctostaphylos, ruminate in V. myrtillus, V. uliginosum, and V. vitis-idaea due to epicuticular waxes. In addition, the seed shape of V. arctostaphylos in outline varies from triangular, tetragonal to oval, whereas they are lunate to reniform or falcate in the rest of the examined taxa. Epidermal cells of the seed are quadrilateral with straight anticlinal walls in V. arctostaphylos, however, they are most elongate rectangle with weakly undulate anticlinal walls in the rest species. The mean tetrad diameter (D) of pollen belonging to all examined species is 29.89 (21.47–43.22) μm while the lowest mean D was found in V. uliginosum (24.59 μm) and the highest mean D was found in V. arctostaphylos (36.74 μm). Principal component analysis based on 47 traits (flower: 9, leaf: 18, seed and fruit: 9 and pollen: 11) showed that the leaf length and width, teeth numbers, tetrad diameter, equatorial axis, and polar axis were the most valuable characters to distinguish the examined taxa in the present paper.","PeriodicalId":45595,"journal":{"name":"Turczaninowia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2024-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141401199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The species identification as R. subrigidus was confirmed by the analysis of the ITS region nucleotide sequence and morphological data. In contrast to literature data, samples of this species collected in the Yenisei did not have sessile leaves, in half of the samples, the length between first and second bifurcation was greater than the maximum of 0.2 cm previously described for the species, in some of the samples, internodes were shorter than the leaves, also different types of pubescence were observed on plant shoot parts. The conditions under which this species grows in the Yenisei River differ from the previously reported ones, primarily, in such parameters as the water hardness and the flow regime. At the city of Krasnoyarsk, seasonal development of R. subrigidus is affected by the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Plant. The paper presents a geobotanical description of the Yenisei River plant communities dominated by and containing R. subrigidus.","PeriodicalId":45595,"journal":{"name":"Turczaninowia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2024-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141394559","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A complete morphological description, including the characters, distinguishing B. ferax from the related species, in Russian is given; its distribution range is characterized. Titov and Libertella rosae Desm.) and a rare micromycete (Schwarzmannia goebeliae Pisareva). Phaeocalicium ahtii is a facultative saprotroph found in Kazakhstan in the Central Tien Shan on the territory of the Terskey Alatau ridge, at an altitude of 2277 m above sea level, on the branches of Lonicera stenantha Pojark. The species is a climatic endemic, on the territory of Kazakhstan its preservation as a rare species with a limited range (category 3 (R)) can be ensured by its inclusion in the Red Book of the Almaty region and the protection of its natural habitat. Micromycete Libertella rosae, saprotroph, quite widespread in the Northern hemisphere, in Kazakhstan found in the southern tip of the Dzungarian Alatau, at an altitude of 1108 m above sea level, on the branches of Spiraea sp. In the territory with a hot and dry climate, Libertella rosae was also noted in the foothill plain of the Central Kopetdag, in the Central Botanical Garden of Ashgabat. The rare parasitic species Schwarzmannia goebeliae is endemic to Kazakhstan, found in the foothills of the Malaysary ridge, and in the swampy area between the Charyn and Ili rivers, at an altitude of 514–655 m above sea level, on the leaves of Pseudosophora alopecuroides (L.) Sweet. The genus Schwarzmannia Pisareva includes two species, S. goebeliae and S. ammodendri.
