Methods: qualitative study, based on Betty Neuman’s theory. The semistructured interview included ten women pregnant with malformed fetuses hospitalized in a maternity hospital specialized in fetal risk. The thematic analysis technique was used, respecting all ethical aspects. Results: the way in which the malformation is communicated, the lack of empathy from professionals, the lack of information, being alone, fearing judgment, and feeling guilty led to emotional alterations and changes in the projects of the pregnant women. The family, specialized care, and religiosity contributed for the balance of the participants. Conclusion: Neuman’s theory allowed us to recognize stressing factors that shook the lines of defense of the pregnant women, leading to fragilities which are overcome by specialized care and by a support network.","PeriodicalId":45440,"journal":{"name":"Rev Rene","volume":"158 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2022-02-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89026456","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: cross-sectional study, carried out by 48 managers from public psychiatric units and from the social sector. Data collection was made through an online questionnaire that is part of the Scale of Perception of Nurse Manager Work, including 43 items separated in five functional domains of nurse managers. The responses were in a Likert scale: does not take time, takes little time, takes some time, takes much time. Results: the activities inherent to ethical and legal professional practices and to the management of care and of human resources required more time from the manager when compared to policy interventions, and consulting and professional development. Conclusion: the managers recognize that managing time implies organization, planning work, and establishing priorities in the tasks to be developed.","PeriodicalId":45440,"journal":{"name":"Rev Rene","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2022-01-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76215299","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of the 30 items were assessed as relevant (23/77%) and presented a satisfactory Content Validity Index (28/93%). Ten items were reformulated, 32 new items were included, and three items were deleted. Methods: a qualitative study, carried out with 17 women, by means of semi-structured interviews via telephone. The data was submitted to Thematic Content Analysis. Results: the participants were between 35 and 40 years old. Two categories emerged: Experiencing pregnancy as a couple and family: the preparation of the couple for pregnancy and childbirth (Pregnancy after 35 years old as an element of potentiality; Change in the family routine for the baby’s arrival) and Experiencing pregnancy and its changes: perceiving pregnancy as a healthy and calm experience (Change in emotional patterns related to the pregnancy process). Data was analysed using thematic content analysis. Results: emerging themes were as follows: onset of low-back pain, symptoms that initiated the journey for care, steps taken to find pain relief, respondent’s perception on care received, interference of chronic low-back pain with normal life, family and relations, multiple practices in which chronic low-back pain patients are involved, perception of effectiveness of the multiple practices, and hurdles to seeking care.
