Methods: descriptive cross-sectional study was utilized in this study of 120 nurses working in governmental hospitals in Saudi Arabia. The study used structured questionnaires: Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, to measure anxiety and depression, Epworth Sleepiness Scale to measure sleepiness and insomnia, and Fatigue Severity Scale to measure fatigue. Results: this study showed high prevalence shift work disorder symptoms such as daytime sleepiness (59.2%), fatigue and anxiety (42.5%) across all departments during the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, it showed a 30.5% borderline depression. Significant difference between the educational attainment, hours of working and working departments with Anxiety was identified. Significant difference was found between educational attainment and hours of working with depression. Conclusion: the nurses suffered shift work disorder symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic. Contributions to practice: shift work alters the nurses’ lifestyle and their health. Little research has conducted on shift work disorder among the nurses on the prevalence and its effects. The results are useful to identify the issues and to overcome the difficulties, which will help to keep the essentials of quality of care.","PeriodicalId":45440,"journal":{"name":"Rev Rene","volume":"13 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2023-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138603124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: an observational, analytical, cross-sectional study of 140 teachers, using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Results: in the sample, the majority was female (54.3%), aged between 26 and 40 years (58.6%). There was a predominance of teachers with a specialist title (48.6%), with a salary range of up to R$ 5,000.00 (85.7%), with two or more employment relationships (52.1%). It was found that teachers who received more than R$ 5,000.00 (p=0.003), with two or more jobs, classified the usual sleep efficiency as poor/feeble (p=0.027). However, those with good subjective sleep quality had lower scores in the Emotional exhaustion (p=0.005) and Depersonalization domains in relation to the syndrome (p=0.023). Conclusion: several factors contribute to the development of sleep-related disorders in teachers, making them more susceptible to the manifestation of burnout. Contributions to practice: the results can support preventive measures for the health of teachers and maintain the quality of their work activities, aiming to reduce the mediation effect of the variables that favor psychological exhaustion.","PeriodicalId":45440,"journal":{"name":"Rev Rene","volume":"42 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2023-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81530918","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: ecological, time series investigation of deaths by HIV/AIDS in adolescents and young adults, from 2009-2019 in Brazil, in populated areas included in records from the System of Information on Mortality. We applied correcting factors to the mortality rates and carried out analysis using polynomial regression modeling. Results: we analyzed 6,344 deaths by HIV/AIDS in adolescents and young adults. We found high mortality rates in young adults when compared to adolescents. There was a growing trend in the north of the country, in the age group from 10 to 14. Mortality rates were higher among males in all regions, with a reduction in the mean rate for white persons and an increase for black/brown persons. Conclusion: there was an increasing trend, followed by a decrease in the last few years, with relevant differences between regions. The age group from 20 to 24 and males presented the highest mean rates of deaths from this disease. Contributions to practice: most of all, our findings give support to health planning, considering the specificities of the public and the regions with the most growing trends, thus helping improve public policies.","PeriodicalId":45440,"journal":{"name":"Rev Rene","volume":"83 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2023-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72406578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: qualitative study, conducted in a virtual environment. A total of 20 women who used digital technologies in pregnancy care during the pandemic were interviewed by videoconference. The data were submitted to content analysis supported by the Atlas.ti9 program. Results: two categories emerged: \"Women's feelings on being pregnant during the pandemic of COVID-19\", encompassing feelings, expressed by fear, insecurity, and loneliness, related to facing a new disease and social isolation; \"Women's experiences with the use of digital technologies in pregnancy care\", showing autonomy in the search for online information about pregnancy and groups of pregnant women, in applications or social networks. Furthermore, they remotely experienced bonding and maintenance of prenatal care by health professionals. Conclusion: the use of digital technologies in the pandemic was an imposed reality that positively contributed to clarifying doubts, care, and emotional support during pregnancy. Contributions to practice: the use of digital technologies showed benefits in the pandemic and can be extended to the daily routine of prenatal care, especially in situations that make it difficult for pregnant women to access services.","PeriodicalId":45440,"journal":{"name":"Rev Rene","volume":"31 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2023-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74772525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
