The respective moderating and mediating roles of dynamic capabilities and competitive advantage are also explored. Method: This quantitative study tested hypotheses of the 168 usable responses gathered from small businesses in the Tripoli area of Libya. Findings: The findings demonstrate the significance of strategic orientations in boosting the performance of Libyan small firms and underlined the moderating role of dynamic capabilities as mediated by competitive advantage. Practical implications: The study suggests that entrepreneurs in small business firms should utilize a mix of factors from entrepreneurial, learning, and market orientations through dynamic capabilities that improve performance sometimes via competitive advantage. Originality/value: This study is unique in extending the present theoretical knowledge of dynamic capabilities and their moderating role on the relationships between strategic orientations, competitive advantage, and firm performance.","PeriodicalId":45381,"journal":{"name":"World Journal of Entrepreneurship Management and Sustainable Development","volume":"49 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.5,"publicationDate":"2022-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82250540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: A questionnaire-based method was applied to enhance corporate sustainability experts’ opinion on the specific subject of the SDG prioritisation process. FINDINGS: The results of this study suggest that board and CEO involvement in the process of decision-making for SDGs is lacking. Interestingly, the existence of current policies in place to reduce negative impacts together with commercial reasons were found to be the main motivation for prioritisation. In addition, many respondents indicated drawing a materiality matrix for the prioritisation process. Further investigations into the data indicated a lack of active research, ambition, and inaccurate reporting systems on SDGs for many of the studied companies. PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: The results imply the need for regulatory policies for a quantitative reporting scheme. This will document both negative and positive impacts that can be measured clearly with KPIs, together with their financial implications. Another policy implication is for the government to introduce additional legislation and actively engage with industry to ensure that SDGs that are agreed by the global international community are adequately mandated. ORIGINALITY/VALUE: This study adds to businesses’ wealth of information on SDG prioritisation steps by combining different variables that are significant determinants of the SDG selection process. It also provides an essential piece of CITATION: Kaffashi, S. and Grayson, D. (2022): Exploring the Prioritisation Process of the Sustainable Development Goals by Business. For this purpose, the following indicators were used: coverage of short-term external debt by foreign exchange reserves, coverage of imports by foreign exchange reserves and the exchange market pressure (EMP) index of the Republic of Serbia. Global events such as the coronavirus pandemic and the crisis in Ukraine have also affected the national financial market, so it is important to investigate this impact and compare it with the previous crisis of 2008-2009. The research shows that the Republic of Serbia has an optimal level of foreign exchange reserves in order to preserve the stability of the exchange rate and finance the balance of payments deficit, as well as a relatively low degree of vulnerability to the currency crisis. Based on that, it can be assessed that the monetary policy was conducted adequately in the previous period of the health crisis. However, some caution is needed due to the growing value of the EMP index as a result of increased demand for foreign exchange due to market panic, global uncertainty and the current geopolitical situation.","PeriodicalId":45381,"journal":{"name":"World Journal of Entrepreneurship Management and Sustainable Development","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.5,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72666198","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Quezon City is the Philippines’ ICT capital and has the most BPO workers in the National Capital Region, comprising 135 BPO establishments and 75 tax-paying BPO firms. The city was awarded the most significant office development in 2019. This study fills a knowledge gap by evaluating the BPO industry’s contribution to the Quezon City’s local government to improve future efforts for the growth of the BPO industry in the city and its socioeconomic status. The case study method of qualitative research was used in the methodology. The essential data was gathered from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), the City Government of Quezon City, and in-depth interviews with focal persons from government bodies and the BPO industry. Despite COVID-19, the Quezon City BPO industry remained resilient and flourished from 2019 to 2021. The local partnership program between the private and public sectors aided in the continuous operation of the BPO industry, job retention, and revenue generation. The Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry has generated significant revenue for the betterment of the local government unit of Quezon City and the country, Philippines.","PeriodicalId":45381,"journal":{"name":"World Journal of Entrepreneurship Management and Sustainable Development","volume":"48 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.5,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75835753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
